Jimmy Grivelli and Joseph Ligambi were enjoying a few drinks together at the Ligambi compound. It was a cold, rainy, Winter night in Chicago. The fire was roasting, they had thick coats on and dark, leather gloves.

The bartender poured them up a glass each of Joe's top shelf vintage liquor. Jimmy looks over to Joe and says,

"What's the occasion for the fancy booze and for the whole room to be emptied Joe? What's going on? Is everything alright?"

Joe takes a big sip of his drink, places his cup down on the wooden coaster sitting on the bar top and smiles. He laughs a little. He turns to Jimmy and says,

"Jim, we've know each other many years. When we met, I was nothing more than a small time wise guy doing big jobs for chump change and you were hungry and desperate for work. You began to help me bring in a little money on the side by shaking up the local store owners for loose change and roughing up the local goons out of our territory. Then, well then you were arrested driving that truck full of booze and did ten years in the can. Even when you were inside I still took care of you, I still came and saw you every opportunity I could and if you had any troubles, I got them sorted for you! I'll never forget what you told me Jim! You looked me in the eyes at that visitor's bench and you said,"

"Joey, I promise to you when I get out of here I'm gonna make it up to you for everything you've done for me. For everything you've done for my Ma, my Brothers, the work you gave me, the help you've always offered. I WILL show my appreciation and make it up to you when I get out of here. I promise Joe!"

"I'll never forget it Jimmy! The passion in your eyes was like no other. And when you walked out of those gates I was there in a limousine waiting for you, when I introduced you to Don Capazzo that was the day all our lives changed! I told Cap so many good things about you! I told him you were one of the only people I trust in this thing of ours. Did you know that?"

Jimmy nods

"You began working for Cap as my associate and you proved not only to me, not only to him but to the whole family that you were loyal, a great earner and you know how to get things done! A few months passed and thousands became millions Jim. Not many people can do that and you made it look easy! I was given the okay to set up my own family and not long after, you know that him and his whole family were killed. I thought you were gone Jim! I panicked because I hadn't heard from you and your body wasn't in the compound. But when you knocked on my door that day I said, YOU FUCKING BASTARD YOU! I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD JAMES! And then we both started laughing. Do you remember that?"

Jimmy nods and smiles

"And then I asked you to come work under me and you jumped on it faster then I've ever seen! Your earnings made us a fortune Jim, no doubt! I thought you were ready and I made you. And that's what brings us here."

"What does?" Jimmy said

"I wanna promote you to my Capo Jimmy. I wouldn't want anyone else on the job. What do you say?"

"I'd be honoured Joe! Thank you so much! I won't let you down! You know I won't!"

Jimmy stood up and hugged Joe, a smile from ear to ear

"No Jimmy, thank you for everything you've done! You've earned it!"

Don Joseph Ligambi and Capo Jimmy Grivelli continued having drink after drink and telling stories and having a good time for what would seem to be an eternity!
