Finding His Place Started by: RoRoG on Aug 28, '10 19:41

This story is a continuation of the previous story which is located here.

As a summation, RoRoG, after the death of his father, was tasked with deciding what to do next with his life. Considering the context, it is clear that RoRoG chose to enter the underworld as a criminal but that is an oversimplification. Dropping his former life and choosing a life of crime was a decision that could not be made lightly. Therefore this story will focus on the steps immediately proceeding the previous story where RoRoG made his choice and delved into the world that he did not know existed until hours before.

As RoRoG pulled himself together after the scariest experience of his life his hands were still shaky. He was lost, confused, wet, and homeless with nowhere to go. He assumed his former home was no longer safe due to the situation so he was left with one choice… to go see Falcon. He did not know this "Falcon" but for his father to send him to this Falcon meant that maybe it was the only chance he had to survive. After spending a week wandering among motels and various bars he met a woman named KateBeckett. She was mysterious; however she seems to have the look of someone important so RoRoG got to know her. After sharing some drinks she asked RoRoG about his past…

So what's your story? I get the feeling you're not in a place like this just because you want to be.

RoRoG was a bit worried about just spilling the whole story outright to a complete stranger so he just simplified it as much as possible to keep himself safe.

Well, my father asked me to find a man and I thought the best way to do it would be to hang around these joints. Ya know that some people are just impossible to find unless you know the right people.

Kate suddenly got a feeling that this was a dangerous. She was listening very carefully as she waited for the answer to the next question as she wanted to make sure that this man sitting in front of her was not a hitman or just some scum out to kill her boss.

So who do you want to find? Hopefully, the man you're looking for in a place like this is someone who wouldn't mind being found. Some people don't take to kindly to being searched for.

RoRoG sensed that she asked that question baiting him into saying something that would declare his intentions after he found this man. Maybe he finally was talking to the right person?

Well, the man I need to find is Falcon. He apparently was the man my father worked for. I would like to talk to him just to find out who my father really was.

This answer surprised Kate because she knew Falcon quite well and who worked for him but she did not know who this man might be.

Well, I don't know. Maybe if you go to Philadelphia you will find him. There's a place called the Griffin's Lair Lounge that people in our line of work frequent so at the very least you will be able to something out there.

With this information he knew what his next goal was. Go to Philly and find this Lounge. Simple… but at the same time it was not. Nothing was simple in this world and RoRoG was about to find that out the hard way.

After arriving in Philly and wondering the streets for a while gathering information he finally came across the Griffin's Lair Lounge. It was an upper class establishment so RoRoG was going to stick out like a sore thumb but for a man with no means such as himself, RoRoG didn't have a choice but to try to walk in and deal with the issues as they came. Just as he walked in however he met up with a large man who was hired to be a bouncer for the bar who stopped him from walking in. Apparently, RoRoG was just a little too suspicious.

Stop right there! We don't let bums off the street walk in here. This is a place for respectable ladies and gentlemen.

RoRoG didn't have too much patience for this bouncer so he used plan B. While he was walking the streets that day he heard some gossip about a couple names that were supposedly big news makers for the city of New York so he decided to drop those names to get in.

I'm here to talk to BostonGeorgeJung. A friend of a friend told me that he worked for Falcon and we have some business so I think it would be best if we talked.

The bouncer was just small potatoes so he wasn't quite sure what to do. RoRoG had enough of an aura of confidence that it wasn't suspicious that he wanted to talk to the owner of the bar but he was dressed quite sloppily. It was a confusing situation but just at that moment BostonGeorgeJung, who was sitting at the bar, approached the men after hearing his name.

Who is this? Is there a problem here?

After a bit of explaining, eventually RoRoG got to the point where he said KateBeckett referred him to the Lounge to talk about locating the man named Falcon. What RoRoG didn't know was that she referred him to Philly because this was the bar where the new blood in the crew learned the tricks of the trade. BostonGeorgeJung finally understood the situation and offered to bring RoRoG into the backroom so they could discuss business. After offering him a drink, George began discussing everything RoRoG needed to know…

You need to understand that not everything will come to you immediately. It will take time before you'll be lucky enough to work with the boss. In the meantime you're going to need to sharpen your skills and become a man of honor and respect without our organization. KateBeckett obviously felt like you had potential so she sent you here so you could sharpen your skills. Maybe one day you'll achieve your goals.

From that day forward RoRoG was a member of the Griffin's Lair crew. He didn't quite know his place yet but he learned how to work street contacts to gain information, how to make money, and what he needed to do to contribute to his city and his crew. RoRoG would have had a moral dilemma previously, but he was to the point where the only focus in his life was accomplishing his goal of meeting Falcon and getting his revenge on the man who killed his father. After some time working in the eight cities performing various tasks for his crew he finally received a message from the man who was most important to him. RoRoG finally would get to talk to his boss, Don Falcon. He was invited to a meeting in New York City at the headquarters, which was hidden in the city, in a place that may never be known to the public. When he arrived he was asked to have a seat in front of the boss and not speak until the boss was done speaking to him.

So, RoRoG, I heard your story from my business associate KateBeckett. I was quite surprised to hear that "The Ghost" had a son who was looking to follow in his father's footsteps. I know that it was quite the shock for you to be thrown into this world without any advance warning; however, you've handled yourself well and have earned yourself a place working in my family. You have the opportunity to challenge your ancestor's legacy and become a great man of honor and respect here in the city of New York.

RoRoG was greatly honored by the opportunity and Falcon went forward to shake his hand and perform the blood oath that was customary in these ceremonies. Afterwards, RoRoG was allowed to speak to Falcon as a trusted associate of the family.

I'm truly honored sir. I know that it's not every day that someone earns the trust of his family and his city and I am proud to be one of those men who are included in your circle of trust. I swear that I will put the family and the city above my personal grudges and feelings to help you achieve your goals as a leader of New York.

After the ceremony concluded and RoRoG left, he spoke to Joey_Cesari who was another of Falcon's closest advisors. The conversation was concerning a rumor Joey had heard about the man who killed his father. Apparently the man who worked for the Fabriccini family had used his contacts to blend in with the city of Los Angeles, which was well known to associate with the city of Philadelphia as well. RoRoG proceeded to go out of town to begin gathering information. When he reached the cities of Los Angeles and Philadelphia there was a rumor of an attack on New York so he returned immediately. While he regretted not being able to follow his personal goal, he was responsible to protect his family and his city and he took that oath much more seriously that his personal quest for revenge. When he finally returned to New York, two days later, a war had already broke out between residents of those cities among others. Apparently it was a power play but RoRoG didn't quite understand the details as he was not intimately involved with the inner workings of the situation. However, he had still contributed to the effort to protect his city. However, just as the war was just about to end and RoRoG was about to get to know the man his father trusted the most, RoRoG's destiny was drastically changed…

To be continued…

Joey_Cesari approaches RoRoG while smoking a Cuban cigar. As he draws nearer to him, RoRoG begins to tell his story. Joey takes a seat in the shade close enough to hear every word spoken. After the story is finished, he approaches RoRoG and shakes his hand.

Very nice story RoRoG. I enjoyed every bit of it along with the first half, sorry I could'nt talk to you that day as I was very busy but I was in the shadows listening to you.

Joey reaches in to his pocket and pulls out a Cuban cigar and hands it to RoRoG.

I look forward to hearing the next part of your story. So just let me know when you plan on telling it to the public and I will do what I can to set some free time up to come and listen to you.

Joey then shakes RoRoG's hand once again and says good bye. He then turns around and walks away thinking about the story that was told while he puffs on his cigar and heads back to his HQ.

Iocaste, who was walking in the streets searching for a contact, smelt a well-known fragrance. It was like a mixture of perfume, alcohol and... Yes, cigar. The cigar odors were what he recognized as Joey's sign of presence in the neighborhood. Walking a bit further, he heard a man starting to tell what seemed to be a story to other people in the business. Next to this man, who appeared to be RoRoG, was his GF, surrounded by his bodyguards. He smiled, and sat next to him, listening like all the others to RoRoG's story.

When finished, he waited for the crowd to leave the place and his GF to have finished to talk. He then walked towards RoRoG and said :

Nice story sir, really well-told. As Joey's said, let us know when you'll carry on, we will be pleased to listen to the rest of it.

He smiled kindly, then said "thank you for the entertainment and good bye" to Rorog, before starting to search for his contact again, who seemed to have disappeared from the city since last time he had seen him.
