History deems the suggestions necessary to grow and prosper are necessary. I'm going to start off with a few mild and easy suggestions to make changes based on how the mafia runs their shit. Their is one Godfather if you insist on a Godfather. Otherwise there is a commission (most Dons want and respect) A Don heads a family. Not a Consignee or below. A Don has a Under Boss known as the RH the most trusted. There is one Consigliere to each family. Prior to any attempts on war the Consigliere is notified by their rival Consigliere.  The Don and UB expect the Consigliere to represent and defend their family to the fullest and report all communications to their perspective Don and UB. There is no LH.

Mafia have body guards who have their backs. John Doe wants Don or GF Joe dead. He got to get through Don/GF Joe's body guards. They are dead.  A gun in real life cannot be trained. Yes their aim can be better but to escape mega body guards is far fetched and unrealistic.

And lastly to run up on families while they are sleeping is pathetic What is worse is they die without a clue as to what in the hell happened. It all always boils down to a few power tripping people needing to avoid death in their paranoid minds. Thus why the decline in activity.

actually mafia structure goes like this

godfather family(in which he is basically don, godfather is something recognized by another family)

his right hand man would be a consigliere(thus only one consigliere per family)

and under the consigliere is a boss, this boss has capo's to run miniature families under each capo

and each capo in essence has a mix of gangsters thugs and earners(i believe goomba/goombah and wise guy are simply slang terms)

so here it would be like this:

Godfather(Don)

Consigliere (Right Hand Man)

Boss (Left Hand Man)

notice the lack of made man rank as made man simply signifies that the person has risen above member status , members can be titled earner gangster or thug depending on how they contribute

and to add to the bodyguards aspect, simply put there is none, the head of the family and its members are protected by family members themselves because one would not trust someone with their life who is not a family member

That is incorrect/correct. If you stick to the 1930's  theme  there was ONE GF. The Consifliere was in fact the RH. We did not have lower ranks leading families either. When the mafia formed the "Commission" there was no GF and the UB was the RH and the Consigliere had the same role. And only one Cponsidfliere either way. There was never a LH. Many mafia families had more then one capo and bosses who over saw the soldiers and gave them work. That would entail them giving up a +1 . That does not happen. Get it?
