| To Move or Not to Move, That is the Question | Started by: SullivanBlack on Jan 08, '18 06:58 |

It had been a cold year so far, and with Dovahkiin moving her crew to Las Vegas, New York had only gotten colder and even more silent than before. Sully seemed a bit sad to have lost the family he was growing keen to; Frankie and Tony as it were, mostly. They had gone with their boss to Vegas to scout it out. Sully and Jackie simply had too much work at the moment to make the trip at the time. However, as it were, they had caught up now and the two had been discussing a move. Sullivan heard the phone ring loudly in the other room, and heard Jackie pick it up. The conversation seemed pleasant enough so he tuned his wife's voice out and disappeared back into the book he was reading. Moments turned into what seemed like hours as he somewhat heard the muffled gossip from the other room, but it simply flowed in through one ear and out the other as the world around him was engulfed in his story, Grimm's Fairy Tales. Rumpelstiltskin was always, oddly, a favorite. He turned through page after page as Jackie's voice carried on. He was so lost in his own world that he didn't even realize she had hung up and her footsteps shuffled toward his favorite room in their house... Sullivan looked up from the book as Jacqueline came into the study. It was a large room, filled with full bookshelves and a fire place. A pool table sat in one corner, and a black, leather reading chair sat opposite of it. He studied her as she plopped down into his chair and poured herself a glass of whatever he'd had sitting in the decanter next to it. The fire crackled and popped behind him as the wood burned and he smiled as Jacqueline sipped on the hooch now in her glass. Setting his book down he simply watched her for a moment, a shifting log behind him bringing him back to the reality before him. "That was Frankie on the phone, wasn't it? She trying to convince us to come out to Vegas now?" He chuckled, folding his arms in front of him and setting them on the desk. |

Jackie smiled at him over the rim of her glass, her lips pursed softly around the mouthful of dry liquor. "Of course she is," she laughed softly, shifting in her seat to lean closer to him. "It's not an entirely terrible idea, you know," she cooed softly, trying to coax him into the conversation gently. She knew he wasn't entirely keen on moving away from New York. They both had well-established holdings in the city, after all. "I mean," she continued, swirling the liquor in her glass with a pensive expression, "This is a rare opportunity, and there's no telling how long it's on the table." Quietly, Jackie took another sip before fetching a coaster from the table and setting the drink down. Crossing her legs she leaned back in the chair, propping herself up on one elbow. "Vegas is basically open for the taking. We might never get another chance to start with such a fresh take. We'd be getting in on the ground floor of an entirely new enterprise, with the full backing of an established family. It's virtually unheard of. And if we played our cards right... no pun intended... we could build on and expand our current holdings without having to take any losses. I think it's a priceless opportunity. What do you think?" |

Sully leaned back in his seat as she spoke, the heat from the fire warming his backside as he did so. "To be quite honest, I've been toiling the idea over in my head since they left... 'Do we go?' 'Do we not?' I'm not sure -what- we might do for Vegas, but you are not wrong my love. It's the ground floor and it's unprecedented the amount of power we could have over the whole city." He smiled at her. "But what do you propose we do? You say we could expand... Another funeral home? Something different? A club to test out the Musical Lightning? Maybe something, dare I say, normal? Like a theater? OH! We could have a theater and have them act out these!" He held up his book of Grimm's Fairy Tales and chuckled lightly... "Or some other macabre plays... Or Shakespearean also." He shrugged, just throwing ideas for them to toss around. "Maybe," he lowered the book back to the desk, "we could go and take a look around the city? Get out of this drab weather for a week or so?" He looked out of the window for a brief moment before looking back to Jackie, who was taking a sip of her drink and pausing as he stared at her. He shrugged again, "Maybe another funeral home would be fine... Hmm, we could put some slots in the lounge. High-Stakes Inheritance." He laughed a bit... |

Jackie laughed melodically. "That's a bit tactless, don't you think?" She frowned at him playfully, "I mean, I like the idea. Just, maybe not in the lounge." She rubbed her temple for a moment before continuing, "I think a trip is in order. A break from this weather would be nice... and we can feel out the family's plans and holdings. If we want to expand into other things I see no reason why we can't dabble... multiple streams of revenue and all that jazz. Though, given the setting and with film upcoming, I don't think a traditional theatre would be the best idea... something more show-like or more state of the art. Perhaps you could do both... play and have a little stage number to go along? However, I think a funeral home or morgue is always beneficial... especially if I can weasel my way in with the M.E. Plenty of holes in the desert, you know." Jackie sighed, shifting in her seat, "Frankie said dinner is on her. So, at the very least we could thaw out and admire the pretty lights... reassure Dovah that we're still in it to win it. Really get a good idea of what the city needs and what we can offer... maybe come up with a mutually beneficial arrangement... or two." She took another sip of gin, chewing her lip in thought, "I'll call the airline and make arrangments, and let Frankie know as well. Wanna help me pack?" She smirked at him wickedly, crossing her legs just so, so that the hem of her skirt slid suggestively up her thigh... just past the knee. Just enough to tickle the imagination without being tacky. |

He laughed with her at the idea of the slot machines in the lounge, though he did really like the theater idea... Perhaps she was right, however. She had a good point with the films now up and coming! Perhaps a film screening theater would be best? He was certainly an advocate for newer technologies! Even if sometimes it conflicted his love of the older arts. The truth was? All acting was art; film, live, it didn't matter as long as one could enjoy themselves and loose themselves in a story. He did enjoy his usefulness to the Messina family with being a mortician, so the idea of the Funeral Home stayed with him. She was also right, plenty of holes in the desert to be filled. Plenty of concrete needing to be poured as well. There would never be an easier time to get rid of unwanted bodies. Mention of food made him stop day dreaming and look at his lovely JJ. "Frankie's got dinner, hmm? Well if she gets dinner, we shall get the drinks afterward while we discuss the city." He nodded as she mentioned calling the airlines, and started to say he would pack, but she offered the invitation before he could with a teasing slide of her skirt... His blood boiled in that way that a teen's would as the girl he dreamt of slid her fingers deftly over his body. He cleared his throat, and in doing so, cleared his mind. "Yes... Yes I would love to help you 'pack'." He grinned and stood quickly, rushing her and carrying her to the warm floor beside the fire... That phone call could wait for a bit. |
