| The Most Beautiful place you've ever been in your life? | Started by: HighSociety on Jan 14, '18 03:14 |

HighSociety was no stranger to the bustle of the streets. Ever lively, ever churning. Whether the latest gossip and innuendo (Tony-Dicaprio might be expecting and TonyCastelli might be the father...You didnt hear it from me folks, i'm just saying that's the word on the street...) or Whether the street is lively with New Events, wicked tales of deception, money, power, the list goes on. Whatever your pleasure, you'll find it here, no doubt.
Beyond the streets though, beyond the hustle, the noise, the never-ending quest for world domination, money, power, good whiskey and a fresh box of Curtiss Butterfingers. Beyond all that, High Society often living in his memories, back to a quieter place. He didn't dislike his home here, his job, his friends and colleagues. He didn't shy from the work he'd done or had yet to do. No, he embraced the now and planned ahead any criminal worth his salt would. No, HS just liked taking some time and reflecting back on that one place that sat out among the rest. Whether for a day, or a month, whatever the nature, that one space in our time where the world just disappeared around you and for just a little while, you were at peace.
For HighSociety that place was obvious. Many years ago, before he came to these shores he was elsewhere in the wide world. But where he was, he'd always been there, never left his comfort zone. Call it timing, call it money, call it circumstance. The cards just never fell in a way that seemed conducive for him to get out and see all he wanted to. One day, the opportunity arose for him to take a job. It was a job he'd be a fool to turn down. But he'd never be the same. It would change his life. A Job that in the end to a place he'd never thought he'd go, doing work he never thought he'd manage to do well at.
On this journey, spent what seemed like a lifetime, day to day at first very uncomfortable, very out of place. He didnt like it. He wanted home. He was alone in a place no one understood him in a way he needed them to. He never felt he took things for granted back home, but in this place found life far more complex then he expected. It took time, it took patience and it took understanding, for HighSociety to begin to see that it was not all bad. Sure even by journeys end he thought about it day by day and even now thinking back, knows that some of those days by themselves were some of the most hell he's seen in his long life. But taking in the lifeblood of the journey, the end to end experience and all he learned and saw. All he committed to and understood along the way. The people he met, and lives he may have changed. Taking it all in together HighSociety realized that hey. It's ok. I came out on top of this. I could do it again. In fact. I think i want to. It will be easier the next time round.
What HighSociety also found was that the night is darkest just before the dawn. He found his task had been completed and he was to be reassigned back home nearer to these shores. But was he also found was the opportunity he'd always hoped for. An opportunity to visit the one place he'd always wanted to go. More than anything. Without question or hesitation HighSociety boarded a plan that day and away he went. Two Days later he landed in Ireland. A brave new world, if only to him, for he'd only ever dreamt of it. That was plenty for him.
It was was all i ever wanted to do. That one thing at the top of my bucket list. If i can't live and die there, then i want to visit, see it all, experience everything i can. Fortune favored me that year and i found myself doing just that. Now Ireland wasn't always a gem many believe it to be. Much like here, it is no stranger to war and strife. But even as War for Peace raged in certain sects, I still sought my Shangri-La. For several weeks i traveled through the whole of the Irish Free State, seeing everything i could. From Dublin's Fair City, to the West Coast of Galway, south to Corcaigh...Ig go danach.. I went everywhere i could, met everyone i could. I drank, i sang, i danced and learned so much for so many people. I even got lost in the kills of Killarney. Every single waking moment there, i was at peace. And when it came time to return home and eventually these shores, it was bittersweet. But similar to the end of my previous journey, i tried to relegate any lingering consternation or distress to the rear of my mind, in favor of all i'd been able to accomplish in such a short while.
For me, Ireland is the most beautiful place I've ever been in my life. the sites, the sounds the people, all of it. And for me you see, thats what beauty in a place really is. Not merely scenery, not merely picturesque moments as the sun cools into the ocean at dusk. Not a fresh bow after a rainfall, nor a gleaming snow down a quiet hamlet. These are all wonderful things, surely. But there is so much more beauty to be found in all the things that have made that place as grand as it is. The life that breathes it in and sets it in motion. That is beauty. Everything together, in seemingly imperfect harmony. For me, i wouldnt have had it any other way.
"So what about you?" HighSociety asked aloud. "What is the The Most Beautiful place you've ever been in your life? What stirs your heart in a way only you might understand, but you still want to tell the whole world, in hopes that someone has seen through your eyes that very same beauty?" |

Lucky_Seven grunted, flicking open and close his lighter; like so many other times. His coat collar had been popped up to brace himself against the biting winds. He stood against a brick wall, his eyes watching like a hawk as the streets bustled and the people hustled. Lucky had grown up in a big city, he had spent his entire life in the city; having never dared nor had the money to venture elsewhere. He liked the fact that he had anonymity in the crowds, that his younger self had used to full advantage. He took a drag of the cigarette, blowing the smoke upwards into the air as he listened to HighSociety with a curious ear. He had never been to Ireland, but it had sounded like a nice place to visit. The question had been turned on him, and he frowned, raking a hand through his hair. "Parents never earned enough to be scroungin' up money to take flights to Ireland, y'know?" He mused, the cigarette dancing between his lips as he spoke. "Brooklyn-raised, Brooklyn-born. But, I guess chumps like me take it for granted. We don't see what newcomers see, we don't get the thrill about livin' in a place because we see it all the time." Lucky had ran into HighSociety before, and certainly held a level of respect for the man. The way he described places and thoughts certainly were beyond his own lingo and certainly much more elegantly spoken. He folded his arms across his chest. "Ya ever been back to Ireland, then?" |

Hearing Lucky_Seven , i chuckled a bit. "My folks never gave me a dime, and i was better for it in the end. Didnt need those rats anyway!" i said. "But you're right, it wasnt cheap"
"I scrimped and saved as much as i could and when i finished up work where i was, Ireland was just within reach so i took it."
Hearing Lucky's question about ever returning there, I thought to myself all about that wonderful place again.
"Sadly, i have not been back yet. This life of ours sort of takes it toll. I never seem to find the time i once had. Obligations take hold and before you know it a year has gone by. Two, Three, even more, eventually." "But", I said aloud to Lucky, "I do hope for it again one day very soon, if the time is right." "I would very much like to return and relive old memories and enjoy a fair few new ones as well!" |
