Ancalagon takes a moment to indulge his flask before stepping out of the shadows of the alley and looking about the crowd watching a young man. The before mentioned man was holding a gun to his head, counting down. To what, Ancalagon did not know nor did he really care.

This continued on for a few minutes, before a shot rang out. As blood and brain matter splattered the closest people, he took note of a few disappointed looks from a select few. The crowd, seeing no more fun from this now cooling corpse, wandered away.

Alright, before any of you onlookers leave, I have a question and some small gripping to do. You shall be my audience.

Indulging again in his flask, Ancalagon placed it back inside his coat and motioned to the pool of blood at his feet.

Why? Why do these young men and woman, so recent to our shores, do this? I see fairly often, a new gangster with a fresh slate and no family connections commit suicide. Right before the big hitters come looking for them. I can’t understand so I’m hoping someone can tell me. I’ve seen this happen to new gangsters who have lost their family during war and are overcome with grief but this...this is stupid.

Why join Our Thing if you’re going to end yourself less then forty eight hours late, alone and friendless?

Ancalagon takes a moment to kick the corpse, realizing he had some brain matter on his new suit.

I’d say if a youngun wants to die, he should just ask for it. Far less messy and does a service to today’s hitters. Steels the nerves, lessens the shake of the arm and whatnot. Part of me wonders if these kids thing they will be able to take down a mobster that shoots them before the are considered "fair game" by our wise leaders but I am getting off track here...

Again, what's the deal?

I don't think they will be able to answer to you. There dead... how do we know whats going on in their head. If they want to end their lives let them do it. Why should they helps these cold blooded, hard headed men that want to come and kill them?

I'm merely asking those around me what they think, for I know dead men tell no tales.

As an addendum, it is frustrating to be talking to a gangster along the lines I've described who say they are "looking around" before establishing themselves as a small time bag man for one of our many Families.

Then they off themselves. Tis such a waste and I find it perplexing.

If someone wants to die, who are we to judge how and when they do it? - Tell me, if you had, had enough of this thing of our's, why would you volunteer to have a gun pointed at your head just so some random Mafioso can have a little target practice, when you can quite easily go into forever hiding, or just hang yourself in the comfort of your own home?

I think a lot of the problem with these suicides of the "new blood" is that they didn't think it through when joining this way of life, it's not for everyone and better they remove themselves sooner rather than doing something stupid later, like attempt to randomly kill someone, which, happens a hell of a lot - Well, it use to, things seem to have gotten better with regards to fresh blood going crazy at the first sight of a gun.

Death approaches... and by that I mean that our Hero, and champion Pick pocketer Judge Death approaches, and not that everyone in the street was about to be gunned down in a driveby, although I'll admit that it would be kinda funny if that were to happen. However that is not where our story is going, and the narator is not supposed to but in with his own opiions and thoughts.

Death glides from an alley and drops to one knee, putting his hand into the hole in the back of the young mans head, feeling what's left of his rapidly cooling brain.

Asss to why he killed himssself inssstead of leaving himssself to be killed by the assssassssinsss of thissss thing of oursss? Why ssshould he? Asss TSA hasss already stated, what did he owe to them or any of usss. If he was in a family, had joined with The Dean or Roman or any of our great leadersss then yesss it would have been polite to asssk for a quick and painlessss death and the handsss of one of hisss own than to take hisss own life, but in thisss insssance he owed no sssuch loyalty and had brokered no sssuch affiliation.

Providing a final meal for your brethren is the obvious choice for any loyal gangster.  However, I think the fact that we're overlooking here is that, usually, one who would take one's own life, simply does not care about their fellow members.  For one reason or other--likely the same reason that they are killing themselves--they have no emotional attachment to the organization.

Maybe they're new, in which case they don't know how this world works, and don't care about their crew.  Or maybe they're not happy in their current family, in which case, obviously, they care not for helping them out.

I too have been surprised at the spate of suicides our streets have seen over the last few months, The ones that are family based and do it, twist my nips the most, though as Sly says, if they are not happy with the family I can understand that, I would like to think we have an open door policy her at The Patriots and if any of the family, think it's time to go, I would be more than willing to loan an understanding ear.

To the point in hand though, I think it's descendants from disgruntled mafioso, who just wanna get this kind of pissed of response/questioning.

Or maybe they just don't like the way their short life is panning out.

Interesting comments. There is a flip side we are forgetting, though. It annoys me enough seeing folk suicide, but what annoys me even more is when someone decides they want out of this life and decide to run around all guns blazing. Sure, I can understand they want to go out in a blaze of glory and die happy and all that, but it still irks me to think they care so little about this things of ours that they would willingly risk their family members lives as well as their own by attacking other mafioso.

Anyway, thats just another angle. On the original subject, I do wish these people would seek out their family Hit Squad leader to at least do some good before departing our world. Alas, as someone said, they are leaving because they no longer care for this life, so I guess its fair to say they wouldn't waste their time helping a world that they dont care for.

On regular occassions i look around and see the state of society and wonder why to bother any more.  I have a history linked to these cities for many years as different members of my family came with different levels of succees.  I think for me presently there are multiple issues the main one though boredom.  I can help people can come to the streets but does that make my day any better...... not very often.

i think sometimes you have to look and think, is the money in my pocket really worth it, or could i be retired sitting on my yachy with my wife not worrying about who or what i have to deal with tommorow.   As for newer members i have seen everything from boredom, wrong family, not making money quick enough or feeling they have the wrong skills coming into this thing and feel their life isn't worth living without these easily attained skills.  But i suppose is hard to tell with everyone, especially the mutes who never contact anyone or speak, just lurk.
