No, I'm not going to ask for drug prices. No, I'm not going to ask if he wants to be pickpocketed. i usually talk to other people, and they seem to be very annoyed by my msgs as i never seems to get replies....

Petra, I know what you are trying to do here. Motivating people to talk to their neighbors is quite commendable but in my experience, it is fruitless. You see, there is this place called IRC Avenue. I don't go there personally, well...only for urgent measures or if and when ordered by my boss. It is not because I am a snob or don't want to participate in coffee shops discussions or get to know my fellow man, only because it's not my thing. I'm probably one of very few.

Here I have my ancestors diaries, and reading through them, there was a time where frienships where formed in mail and bonds where made. Now...when you don't go to IRC Avenue, you are the odd man out. Sure, some are polite and respond and a few are dear to my heart, but obviously it is not like it was in the good old days, from what I have read from my grand-mothers writings.

I'm sure my neighbors are very nice people, but as far as writing a stranger just to say hi, I don't think it will happen. IRC Avenue has taken up this 1935 world of ours and mail just isn't what it used to be and it left me 'blah'.

you see, talking to people works if we put enough hastle to it. Even tho i use IRC Avenue i tend to talk to people on the corner (MM). It's just seem more fun that way. (more role play is done thru MM then on IRC).

IRC did not take over this, not to that bunch that did not let it to happen.

tho since Local Bars restirctions (i used to be able to post to every thread in every city, now it's impossible unless you are in thet city)

so since local Bars restictions it's harder to keep contact with other people

and other thing i must say on account of talkin out of IRC Av. is that you get to know more people. (as on IRC is Real Time. Mob Mail lets you keep in touch with people from different time zones ).

And for this reason i have to disagree that IRC Av. taken the place of mail :)

ASD, I love this world of ours...that is the main point..."this world of ours". I can understand there is this whole other dynamic in IRC Avenue but I am a mobster and I don't like to through tacos and all that stuff. I really do understand why people love it there, and I'm not putting anyone down for frequenting that place...I'm not all that naïve. What I'm saying, dealing with people in Mob Mail is on its way out and that's all. I would be curious just how it affects us as mobsters.

Fakeman, as much of a pleasure as it would be to have your neighbours, i am sorry i would have to say no.

As for smilingassassin, is not tears of happiness when i see you sorry bud.  I will however say with the streets as dilapidated and often filled with unsavoury items or people i understand why people don't communicate.  Even on irc i walk through cafe's full of lurkers

Francie steps cautiously off the curb and out into the street.  "Miss Belladonna," she says carefully "I agree with you on some points.  IRC Avenue seems to be how everyone communicates around these parts.  However, I still enjoy communicating through old fashioned methods too.  It is less rushed, and people take the time to choose their words more caretully.  I too have people who are dear to me, and I usually speak to them outside of IRC Avenue. 

You are one of my dearest friends, and we have no trouble communicating with each other.  I hope it continues that way, and I for one shall be using the old fashioned methods more frequently.

I have to agree with you that this is taking over in some way. IRC Av. is faster so it's good in situation that requires fast actions :)

As Francie suggests, it is in our hands to keep things on MM. It will die if we let it die.

There is some motivation tho. It gives people more experience when they use MM instead of IRC Av. so there is some motivation given from Gods:)

I think that Petra in some way realizes that this is dying way of communication and for this reason she made this place. I might be wrong about her intention though.

IRC Avenue has long been blamed for the death of so many things.

Does anyone remember life before you found it? Everything so serious, so much effort required to build and maintain relationships. Every generation of the family had to put in the same level of effort, strive to get to the top.

In any walk of life a professional distance brings around an increase in effort, this is particularly true of the life we chose. Do people really fear their boss the way they should once they've seen them at their weak worst? Can bosses maintain the front they require when their every casual word is heard?
