The Cold Winter of 1927

Metropolitan Hospital Center

Manhattan, New York

Damon’s POV:

“She’s dead. I’m sorry, we did all we could.”

Fox Merlo was pronounced dead at 3:21 am on January 24th.

There was no sound that was worse than hearing the Electrocardiography explain how someone’s heart stopped beating; I could already tell I’d have it ringing in my nightmares, constantly reminding me of our failure to succeed. She was dead and I would just have to accept that. But how?

Damon proceed to mull over the thought as he stepped away from the dead body and the annoyed Doctors who just want to clear the room for some other unfortunate soul. They couldn’t care less that she is dead. That I’d never see that smile. NO. I can’t think about this now I must plan my escape. I must disappear.

Three Months Prior

Foxy’s POV:

The big black door has been staring at Foxy for quite some time, judging her; the guilt just keeps spreading, consuming her inner core as she waits. That’s all she can do. What I did was not wrong, no it wasn’t, I did what I thought I had to do. Yeah, so I should be in the right…not the wrong. Then why do I feel so bad? Uggg it’s impossible. But I had to let him go, he’d be in danger if I didn’t. I did the right thing. At least I think…

“Are you going to stand out there all day? You’ve been in the same position for an hour and the boss wants to see you.” Tommy gives me a mocking smile while he holds the door, his face maybe making fun of me but his eyes betrayed him with his worry.

The dominate smell of cigars pollutes the air in the obnoxiously huge club but the floors are worse off from all the spilt liquor and broken glass; yet, it still has a comforting feel about since this was considered to be home by many. As she walks through the damaged club she remembers that last night was a great night.… everyone had a good time eventhough it got a bit too rough at the end. She enters Mike’s office to see him looking at a file with a sad gloom and suddenly forgets all the babble inside her head.

“Give me a name and it’s done.”

“I’m afraid it’s not that easy.”

Foxed grabbed the tossed file and examined the contents. There were pictures of Adam and Sandy discussing about documents. Documents that could put us away for life.

Adam:

Age: 27

Occupation- Hitman (aka my close friend, aka fucking rat)

Employer: Mike Danner

Sandy:

Age: 44

Occupation: Director of the FBI (aka Ruthless, aka trying to catch us for years, aka the dirtiest cop known to man)

Employer: His own greed

“What do you want me to do?”

“Get rid of this problem. I wish I didn’t have to ask you this, I know it’s extremely risky, because you could lose everything if caught.”

“It’s done. My ass is already on the line. They have to be dealt with before we can all have a chance of a future.”

Later that Night

Adam stepped through the hallway so he could sprawl out on the couch; however, once he spotted the glass shaped Fox, his every muscle tensed and within seconds two fighters were in combat. They both danced with two swords by keeping up their defense and attack while each tried to pass a move on another. Only problem is they were trained by the same person so their only true difference was Adam’s strength and Foxy’s speed; typically, if a ninja was in such a predicament Adam would win but Foxy knew about an old Knee injury from playing soccer. One second opening and one harsh wack Adam was on the floor begging for is life, pleading his old friend to show mercy and explained how he had to share the info or he’d be sentence for life.

“Loyalty was our first rule and you failed to meet such a quest. Goodbye.”

As the sharp blades came down to his neck, “He’s brain washed you. You are living a lie and you don’t even know it. I trusted Mike like a father but he is the betrayer not me. You have…” before any other words could flood out the mouth of a liar, Fox decapitates the bastard. It certainly was worth the extra sharpening. Fox cleans up any possible trace and proceeds to walk out without even a glance back to her friend. He was dead the minute she saw the photographs.
