A Dawn to Remember Started by: TonyCastelli on Jan 30, '18 19:40

It had been so long since Tony had the free time for a celebration. He had just recently been given the title of Don and figured it was time he got some of his closest friends together in order to celebrate the occasion. There was not a day that went by that he did not think of how he had almost continued to stay away from this life.

By some odd chance he met a women by the name of Katy Perry who brought him in to work for Shaggs and the Mystery Machine crew. He had watched as the same person who brought him in was gunned down and he had to fill some pretty big shoes. He worked and saw himself rise from a member to left hand and even to right hand alongside Shaggs. Eventually he brought on many different people who would becomes his friends and allies in the Bronx and eventually Summerlin.

During that time he even brought on an associate by the name of Jones who was now a high ranking member in the Mystery Machine crew. Although Tony would never let him forget that he was once his bright eyed, lowly thug of an associate.

Finally, Tony got the chance his bloodline had never gotten before. Leadership. He was now running his own crew in Summerlin where he was building something he thought his ancestors would have been proud of. Not only that, but he was building a wide range of friendships across the criminal underworld.

"Hey! Michael, I want you to start making some phone calls. I want to have a celebration with some friends." Tony hands over a list of names to his bodyguard and sends him off.

Then motioning for his trusted friend and right hand Preeyah to come over, "Preeyah, I'd like for you to make the arrangements at the Rainy Day Lounge over in Seattle. It's a fine establishment in order to have a party. Make sure we have plenty of drinks, food, money, and staff to make sure things run smoothly. We'll have it tomorrow night so that people have time to make the trip."

Tony himself started to make a few phone calls in preparation for tomorrow. He would also need to make the trip over to Seattle from Summerlin...

Later the next day...

Tony had his best suit dry-cleaned and made ready for the party. When he was finally ready he went outside followed by an entourage of bodyguards. There was a car waiting to take him over the the Rainy Day Lounge. On the trip over all he could think of was how it felt like it had not been that long ago that he was wearing a ripped suit pulling off some small time jobs in order to make a mediocre amount of cash.

He hoped that maybe some of the people working under him would be able to feel the same way about him and Villainy Inc. the way that he felt about working for Shaggs and the Mystery Machine. Only time would tell...

As the car pulled up, he spotted a few different faces he recognized heading inside as well. One of his men opened up the door and he stepped outside the car. He buttoned his suit jacket and began to walk up the steps to the front door. As he approached the employees quickly ran to hold the door open for him.

When he was finally inside he grabbed a glass of whiskey and made his way around the room. He made his way over to see Shaggs and some of the mystery machine crew. They joked around about the good 'ol times and talked about the future.

After that he made his way around greeting different friends and associates from Las Vegas, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Detroit, and Philly. Once he had made his rounds he stepped over to grab a microphone...

"I just wanted to say thank you to all of you for coming to this party. I am glad to call all of you friends of mine and I look forward to our continued friendships and relationships. So let's all raise a glass to continued success and prosperity. Enjoy yourselves with drinks and food on the house. We'll be going for as long humanly possible." Tony took a sip from his glass and handed the microphone back to his bodyguard.

He made his way back into the party to continue reminiscing and having a good night....

Frankie was thrilled to receive the call about Tony's rise to Don.  This was no small thing for an American Gangster, but to a girl who grew up in the Old County, becoming Don meant something just a bit more.  Because of this, she took her time in finding just the right dress to wear.  She hired someone to do her hair and make-up.  Then she spent the rest of her day preparing what she hoped would prove to be the perfect gift - the one thing - above all the other gifts he'd no doubt receive - that he treasured most.

No store would have this sort of gift that a man being made Don deserved.  She knew that.  While she had too few things with her that meant so much - for this occasion it was worth the sacrifice.  A gift to a Don in celebration of his rise to power had to be something truly magnificent! A wonder that other men would feel small beside and yet - it would also have to be deeply meaningful.  The deeper the meaning and more rare, the greater the value it would have in the heart of the one who received it.  And, with luck, her investment in TonyCastelli would pay off in spades down the line because she truly believed he was destined for greatness... perhaps even Godfather in time!

After a call home to Don Enzo for his approval, Frankie was ready.  @TonyCastelli really had been one of her truest friends and most ardent supporters ever since they met; and so he was deserving of this historical gift ... one of the few things her father had ever given into her care before he abandoned her utterly.  Wrapping it in brown paper, she tied a simple bow about it in blood-red ribbon.  And then joined @Tony-Dicaprio in traveling to the party.

For a time Frankie mingled with the other guests, familiar faces from all over the country.  These were important persons who the respect of could help her and Tony-Dicaprio maintain their place of comfort and authority for years to come.

When it seemed that TonyCastelli was finally free, she made her way towards him and took him into an embrace, kissing his cheeks in the way of greeting which was familiar to her from her youth in Sicily.  "Don Castelli."  She intoned with formality.  She took his hand and kissed his ring to show her respect.  "Thank you for your most kind invitation.  So long as I am here, I am at your service within the edicts of my own respected Don Dovahkiin.  Should you have need of me today - you have but to ask it and it shall be done."  She lifted the wrapped present.  It was long enough to lay from wrist to wrist across two hand faced upward with fingertips touching.

"A gift for you,"  She said with a smile.  "On this most special day."

As Tony unwrapped it he revealed a hand-carved wooden box that appeared to be something of an antique.  Into the lid of the box was burnt a stylized M wrapped in grape vines.  Lifting a small copper latch revealed the interior to be covered in a crushed red velvet that also appeared to have seen many long years and hardship, far from the shiny things which were no doubt piled around the room in tribute to Vegas' newest Don.  In the bottom of the box, a simple knife with a wooden handle.  Despite the aged appearance of the wooden handle, the blade itself is pristine and sharp.  It bears a small makers mark that appears to be a triangle, inside of a square, and in the middle of the triangle... a small circle?  No... an apple.

"A gift from myself and Don Enzo Messina of Sicily.  This knife has been in our family for over then generations.  My many greats grandfather was a simple herder of goats in the foothills of Mount Etna.  He was a very young boy when invaders who had successfully raided numerous villages came upon him and his herd.  They decided to take the goats for themselves and feast upon them in celebration of the riches they had collected from the people across the land.  There was little a boy of no more than seven could hope to do against armed fully-grown men."

Frankie pushed a long dark strand of hair behind her ear as she continued with the story, "So, the invaders killed every one of the goats; eating and drinking themselves into a stupor while my many greats grandfather watched helplessly.  As the moon rose up to it's zenith, men began to fall asleep.  So great was their gluttony that no one posted a guard - after all, they'd defeated several villages of men and all that remained around them for miles was a shepherd boy and the bones of his goats."

"The knife you hold there was one of three hat were used to slice the throats of no less than thirty men in utter silence.  By dawn my many greats grandfather had slain all of the invaders, never waking a single man with his bloody work.  Baptized in blood, the boy was no a man, and he lead the caravan of horses and carts back to his village to offer to his father for his failure to protect the herd."

Frankie smiled proudly, "His father, who was beside himself with joy that his son was alive, had no care for the loss of his herd at all and ordered all his servants to prepare a feast for his son who was no a man.  Word was sent to all the villages who had been attacked that they should come to my family's home and celebrate - not the defeat of the invaders... but the boy who was now a man."

"The villagers feasted all day, and night, and into the next day - my family opened their cellars and gave everything they had to the people... as well as their belongings which the invaders had stolen.  In recognition of their generosity, and of my many greats grandfather's courage, the people kissed my grandfather's ring and called him Don.  The boy who had become a man, was named the protector of Messina and took its name as his own.  This knife, that is now yours, was his.  Don Castelli, may you find it of use to you in dark times when enemies surround you and yours.  When you must use it, may it bite deep and true.  And so long as you live, may you remember the friendship you have with those who carry the name Messina."

Joy sits at the vanity in her bedroom getting ready for Don TonyCastelli's big day.  She is proud to stand as his left hand, and she is proud of everything he has become.  Hey loyalty knows no bounds.

She had slipped into her little black dress and black T-strap pumps, black stockings rounding out the attire.  Her make up is unterstated and flawless as usual.  She piled her golden brown hair on top of her head and put on great great great grandmother Francie's emerald earrings.

Joy had thought about wearing the pink pearl necklace and earrings that James-Sullivan had bought for her the day they ran the jewelry heist.  Great sadness overcomes her as she thinks of his untimely demise.  Her life had not been the same since her fiance had died.  She is not in mourning anymore, but yet she still wears black to remember him.  Yet today is a day to rejoice and she throws off her sadness in honor of her crew leader.

As she enters the room where the New Don is being celebrated, she watches as @Frankie-Messina is chatting with Tony.  She waits her turn and then    she runs to him and greets him with great enthusiasm.

Don Castelli, it is such a great honor to serve along side of you.  I thank you for every opportunity you have given me.  I am indebted to you for life.  I would do anything you ask of me from this time forward.  Many congratulations on your new title.  Please accept this small gift.

Joy smiles brightly and  stands back slightly as @TonyCastelli opens the box filled with handmade cigars from Havana.  Joy had went to great lengths to find just the right gift for him, and she hoped he would enjoy them.  She kisses his cheek and moves along to mingle with the other guests as others are anxious to greet the young and handsome new Don

Preeyah arrives outside the Rainy Day Lounge in Seattle with her best bodyguard as she calls him. Eddie.. Bodyguard and best friend. She smartens herself up and links Eddie's arm as she starts walking towards the door.

The wind blows in Preeyah's eyes and they water slightly.

Preeyah's ancestors have gone far back with Tony's. She smiles at Eddie and begins to tell him about how she once worked for Thoros in Detroit. She then linked up with Tony during a diamond heist. It was like a reunion. They stayed in close contact several  times a day. Once Tony was given the nod and given the honour of his own family, Thoros allowed Preeyah the opportunity to make new memories in Las Vegas with Tony. That's when another chapter opened..

Eddie opens the door and Preeyah walks through. Taking her coat off, she hands it to Eddie while looking round. "There is Joy" She thinks to herself. "Tony can't be far" She spots him intermingling with a few made men and walks over to him.

"Hey Tony, How are you? I imagine you are very happy and excited for all of this. Do you like what I did with the place? I am sorry I'm late, I had only an hour to get ready after spending all afternoon sprucing this place up for you and the guests. How long till speeches?" Tony winks and replies with "now" then chuckles.

Preeyah gathers herself together and awaits his speech. Tears in her eyes.. This is such a special moment. She knew how much it means to him, all of this. Tony finishes and Frankie-Messina has her say. Preeyah sips her drink while nodding in agreement.

Joy comes in through the door and as usual, looking fabulously gorgeous. She has her moment with Tony. Preeyah is now quite merry and thinks she should slow down with the whiskey. She places down the glass and wraps an arm around Tony's shoulders once Joy goes off to mingle with others.

I would just like to make a small toast to this most amazing man, friend, bossman, leader and all round good guy who is always there when needed.

Preeyah is pointing to Tony in all directions of merriness. She takes off her shoes while continuing with her toast.

So, I would like to say a huge congratulations on becoming DON TONY CASTELLI and big thank you for having me by your side as it is a great honour.

You have really deserved this position in life. You've worked hard and continued to be loyal and understanding towards everyone.

Well done Shaggs for taking a chance on you. He made the right choice.

Preeyah picks up her drink again and raises her glass in the air shouting "TO THE MOST AMAZING MAN AND BESTEST FRIEND EVER. MAY YOU HAVE AN EXCELLENT EVENING"

Preeyah is taken by the arm by Eddie and escorted off to the seating area discreetly to enjoy the rest of the evening.

I had to work out double time to make up for the time off I would be taking to travel outside of Los Angeles. Lifting weights was something I quite enjoyed so putting in overtime at the gym wasn't anything I wasn't already used too. I'd received my invitation in the mail, kinda funny how it was already in the box waiting for me when I got home even though there wasn't mail that day. Either was my driver had flown with me as we made out way out of the airport and to the celebration.

Once we made it to our destination my driver walked around the front of the automobile and let me out. As I stepped out of the car I stretched my shoulders and cracked my neck. Being cooped up in the back of a limo would of been a lot nicer then this car, but it seemed most everything had already been rented out at the airport.

Adjusting my tie I reached inside my sports coat and removed my flask. I had brought some of the finest whiskey they had in Los Angeles and I wanted to bring a few bottles over to Castelli. I knew he was quite the connoisseur so it was a no-brainer he had to try this new west coast whiskey. Taking a big swig I took a look around as I put the cap back on my flask. There were a lot of familiar faces and a lot of faces I didn't recognize at all.

With little hesitation I made my way inside, plenty of people stopping there conversation noticing the Roman was making an appearance. My driver followed behind carrying a small wooden crate with both hands. Once inside my driver and I could tell we were gathering way more attention then expected, I gave him the nod and he put the crate on a table. With his crowbar he opened the crate and began to disperse bottles of whiskey to everyone.

Noticing a good friend in Shaggs I waved in his direction his immediate reaction was to wave me over. He was with Tony, the man of the hour and one I was looking forward to seeing the most. I walked over, grabbed the last bottle of whiskey out of my drivers hand and presented it to Tony and Shaggs. I explained to them that this whiskey was barrel aged longer then usually, basically some of the best you can get your hands on during prohibition. The look on their faces made me knew that I had made the right decision. I popped the cork and had glasses poured for the both of them.

"Tony it is an honor and privilege to be invited to this tremendous occasion.",Roman said. "I've brought some of my prized whiskey for you guys to try out, I hope you like it."

Klejnot stood outside of the building, but soon entered. She was quiet and had not been in Tony's crew for very long but he sure knew how to make her feel welcome with the sudden changes. Looking around she found a seat and listened to everyones chatter. It was a special day and a great accomplishment for her leader.

She smiled and got the nerve to stand going over to her boss and looking up at him. "Congrats boss, you deserve it. May your run go swell and smooth. And may we all enjoy each others company.

Half asleep at his desk, filling out paperwork Insomnia receives a call from one of TonyCastelli's bodyguards. They were planning a party in honor of his promotion to Don and had invited him to the celebration. Hanging up the phone he walks over towards the closet. Changing into one of his favorite suits before using the mirror on his nightstand to comb his hair back with the fingertips of his hand. Making a few quick calls, Insomnia summons a few of his most trusted bodyguards and the lovely Bubbles as his plus one to the party.

Moments later a car pulls up outside of his house honking. Putting on his jacket Insomnia quickly runs over towards the car while glaring inside the vehicle to make sure it was safe. It was hard to see much of anything outside with all of the rain, funny how they were traveled to the rainy lounge in Seattle. Entering the car Insomnia searches into his coat pocket, pulling out a piece of paper he hands it to the driver before placing his cheek on the glass of the window, resting his head before arriving.

The car comes to a halt and Insomnia jolts awake. Quickly reaching for his gun he looks up realizing he had actually fallen asleep and finally at his destination.  Exiting the vehicle a few of his guards rush to the car holding out their umbrellas over his head as he walks over, meeting up with Bubbles under the covered area of the entrance to the building. As he gets closer Insomnia notices his best friend RomanReigns had already made it to the party early and was chatting with Bubbles and various others of how they met Tony.

The trio and their body guards head inside, noticing everyone was already beginning to take their seats. It had looked as if things were about to start at any moment. Looking around they find an empty table, taking their seats they listen to the announcer fluffing up Castelli before he had his chance at the mic.

The room quickly bursts into a roar, cheering and whistling as the Don himself makes it to the stage. Everyone was up out of their chairs clapping before being motioned to sit down. The room suddenly goes real quiet as TonyCastelli picks up the mic. Insomnia sits there admiring his long time friend, listening to him speak.

Noticing Tony was wrapping things up he starts to head out towards the crowd, shaking hands and having drinks in celebration. Insomnia stands up and approaches Castelli with a hug, tiredly patting him on the shoulder with a smile.

"Congratulations my friend! It seems just like yesterday we were celebrating you in your success of organizing your own crew. Here we are again today as you've achieved the rank of Don! I must say you've definitely deserved this and I look forward to seeing you continue to do great in this thing of ours. I know personally this has been something you've been dreaming of for a long time now, it puts a smile to my face seeing your dream finally came true."

Searching in his jacket Insomnia reveals a wooden box of cigars imported from Cuba. Digging into his side pocket he removes a aged bottle of whiskey handing the gifts to TonyCastelli before forgetting, getting liquored up celebrating.

A Duesenberg Model J roared across the main street of the Seattle harbor, imposing a different reality on this city, where organized crime and the gangster scene was not a common sight. Inside of it two clearly gangster looking fellows seemed to be engaging in a conversation. Sitting alone on the backseat with both arms spread across the top of the cushioned seats, Jones was looking out the window, to the people and the street lamps that seemed to be moving back while his ride stayed in place. His driver was talking of the most recent developments on the Rain City, but he had long fallen into the back of his own head to reminisce on the connection with this man who had invited him to the celebration party he was now headed to.

There was a good amount of stories on his new life as a gangster that Jones could share with others, both for entertainment and advice alike, but the ones he would save for the final act, the most dangerous and outright hilarious, were always the ones where Tony was present. Starting out as as thug in New York and meeting with Tony was by far one of the most important things to happen in his criminal career, but also on the personal path across the intertwining voyage that Jones considered his life to be.

"There are many faces that blend into a single figure in my mind, but his was a face that I wouldn't mistake for just about anyone. An original not envisioned for mass-production, that's for sure. A one time in a hundred years worth of chance for a fellow such as him to pop out into this world, and I was just lucky enough that he found me when things were turning out for the worst."

He at looked down to the wooden box sitting on his lap and nodded. He had made a special order for a present to give to Tony. A totally black single action colt revolver, with engravings of scroll-work across its body and the image of a spooky ghost in gold on the side of the cylinder.

The Tourster finally reached its destination and Jones started to recognize many faces, big sharks from every corner of the country. "All good-fellas." He said while coming out of the car. He fixed his overcoat into place and noticed Shaggs coming over. He joined him in conversation while both headed inside for a great night.

Shaggs looked over at Tony as he sat down next to Jones and downed his drink. It was a night to celebrate and celebrate he would.

Tony had been everything that Shaggs could have asked for. His friend, his confidant and the best damn Captain he could have dreamed of. When he had started the mystery machine back long ago he was unsure of what would happen. All he knew was that he wanted to have a crew where everyone could have fun and have a place to showcase their talents. Tony showcased them and then some.

He had earned everything that had come to him. He was one of the hardest workers that Shaggs had ever seen and he knew he'd not really be able to put in the words to tell him how proud he was that he was able to share his district with such a man.

Shaggs walked up to Tony and did something that had been a long time coming. He'd been waiting to give this to him for a long time. Next to Tony's M pin on his lapel Shaggs placed a V. He hoped that Tony would treasure that small token as much as Shaggs had treasured having him in his family.

Congrats my friend. Words will never be enough to show how happy I am to do all of this with you. I haven't met many people who have truly earned the Don rank like you have. Wear it well.

"..and that's really why the Kaiser really is off his rocker."

What signified the end of a long rant from SuperHans represented the start of Yacht's evening as a car pulled up to the Rainy Day Lounge in Seattle; his destination finally reached after two plane rides and an earful about the efficacy of barbiturates from Hans.  Yacht tipped his driver and slipped into the lounge with Hans, who all too quickly disappeared to take advantage of the open bar; never one to turn down a free drink.  Or twenty.  Yacht settled in with a vodka over ice and took in the ambience of the lounge before directing his attention on TonyCastelli's speech.

Yacht pondered briefly on what the logistical limits were of going "as long as humanly possible" in a lounge surrounded by several dozen people, but quickly moved on as gifts were presented for TonyCastelli.  Yacht glanced over at the open box of cuban cigars, where a quick thought to swipe one entered his mind as he recalled his occasional plundering of Godfather Earl's cigar humidor in New York.  But this was a special day with special friends, and Yacht had to behave; Hans would get drunk enough and do it for him. Yacht sauntered through the crowd, eventually coming face to face with the man who had donned the rank of Don at.. dawn.

Yacht produced a small box containing a pair of palladium cuff-links, etched with TonyCastelli's initials, along with a mysterious mark that surrounded the initials.  While it didn't have the same pizazz as the blood-avenging knife of several generations of Frankie-Messina's family, palladium did have extreme rarity; fitting for a moment like this, Yacht thought.

"Congratulations on this achievement, my good friend.  I know you've worked  tirelessly to get where you are now - Las Vegas shines just a little bit brighter today."
