It had already been a long night, I had been awake for hours teaching a new guy what to do and how to do it, things he can and can't do with his gun, how to do the simplest of things like robbing old grannies as they withdraw their pensions, to me, it was just another normal night, this guy wasn't even in my family.
After finishing up and drinking the last bit of my coffee, I decided to leave and go home to sleep.

I must have had only 3 hours sleep before waking up to people running around the streets shouting "He's got a gun!", I jumped up, confused as hell, grabbing my gun and running outside and to my horror, there laid TheRabi, my leader, my friend, what the hell is going on?

My first reaction was war and as the RHM of the family, it was my duty to protect the members of Kosher Nostra, so I ran inside my home and jumped onto the phone to call Godfather TheDean to wake him up and get him down here, but as I was dialling, there was a knock at my door, I put the phone down and slowly walked towards the door..
On the other side of the door, was TheDean's RHM Underdog, he explained that TheRabi has been killed for an unlawful act, he broke a rule and was removed.
My jaw dropped, in total horror and shock, I was speechless, not only have I lost a friend, but I am now out here in the Mafia without a family.
To be fair, the thought of dying wasn't really that much of a big deal, I've had a good run, it's the life I chose and I know one day it will happen, why not today? it's a perfect time for someone to get me..

I received a phone call about 20 minutes after speaking with Underdog, it was Whatsername, she had been trying to phone me all morning apparently, I didn't hear the phone, I was too deep in my sleep.
She informed me that I would always have a home with her, I was happy, but don't get me wrong, I've always been a man to go down with the ship, my line of fathers always die with their leaders, but this was a totally different case, I accepted her invite and joined her family.
I am still in New York, never would I have joined a leader outside, nor would I really have joined just "any" New York family, Whatsername and my family line have been friends for many years, so joining her was a pretty easy decision to make.

Why TheRabi decided to take a shot at one of TheDean's guy's is I think forever going to be a mystery, but why he took action that could have potentially cost the lives of his entire family can only, in my opinion, come down to tempery insanity of sudden anger - He was a hard working man, I guess it just got too much for him and he snapped.
Even with this, TheRabi was one hell of a guy, a good man, great friend and always there when you wanted something, so whatever he's done, it won't be that I remember him for, it will be the man before his break down.

I think I speak for many people when I say there was nothing dishonorable in your act of Whatsername.  Going down with a leader is honorable, but in this case your leader was not in a war, and commited a selfish act that put the lives of all his members in danger.  I see no problem with you joining another family.

On a side note, it's always a sad day to see a leader go, especially in your case as you were his right hand.  I didn't know TheRabi well, but he was always respectful in every encounter I've had with him.  And for that R.I.P TheRabi, it's unfortunate to see you go out like this.

Absolutely sir, should it have been war, it would have been an entirely different case and I would have remained homeless and continued to fight till was killed myself, but like you said, it was an act something that didn't warrant anything else other than moving to another family.

It's always a tragedy when these things happen, especially when members or ex-members lose lifes over such incidents of unprovoked actions but thats the life we chose to live.  Although i generally believe you should go down in warfare with your leader this was not the case.   To me as your position meant getting the crew to safety as quickly as possible.  Being a right hand would of meant when with The Rabi offering him the best advice to keep the crew safe, growing and learnings and with his death making sure they are safe and avenged if wounded or killed.

Sometimes have to think of the big picture, and thats what you did and why the crew can go on to achieve elsewhere instead of massacred for a reason they would never know as they slumber.

With regards to your first statement, I totally agree, looking at it more on a war front view, if your leader decides one day that he doesn't like this person then war's them, you know your fate is pretty slim because during war, there is no mercy and rightfully so.

The bigger picture always shows the brighter light to life, but it's unfortunate that in a lot of cases, the bright light is shaded by the current events that stand before us, but again, that's the life we live, inside and outside of the Mafia life.
