A Fortune of Misfortunes Started by: Klejnot on Feb 07, '18 02:45

Drip.... Drip.... Drip...

The early morning rain had come to a stop, rain water dripping from the over hangs of buildings and to the sidewalk below. The air was chilled and foggy, making it hard to see in the early morning. The sun just now coming up there was something about the day that just seemed different from the rest of the week. Soft steps sounded on the wet concrete sidewalk as Klejnot walked and made her way down the street. Her white hair straightened neatly and resting over a black jacket she wore to keep warm. She always enjoyed the early morning strolls.

Today she turned down an alley and followed it out of curiosity. There was nothing new to the sight just that there was a door now there…. At the very end of it. Usually it was a dead end but there was a door, embedded into the brick wall. This was strange indeed, so she made her way inside to find out what it was.

Once inside the fortune teller peered across the room from behind a crystal ball. She motioned for Klejnot to come closer and take a seat. Before she could say anything they raised their hand to keep her quiet...

"You are searching for inspiration, are you not?" She smiles and moves some of her long grey hair from in front of her face.

"I do not know if you will find it. Although I have seen a few things in your near future that may be of more interest. Would you like to know?" She looks across the table patiently awaiting her answer.

Klejnot nodded for her to continue with what she is saying as she found herself somewhat speechless, "There are three things which I have seen for you. The first is that you will be there for some great misfortune, but it will not be yours. The second is that you will discover a great truth, but it will be terrible for another to find out. The third is that you will encounter a great beast, but it will not be an animal which appears before you."

She sat there a bit confused as it seemed more like riddles than a fortune. Klejnot wanted to question her when she speaks once again, "I must go now. You will have to find your own way of dealing with these events."

She gets up quickly and heads through a sheet hanging in the doorway. In an attempt to follow her and when she got through the sheet all she saw is a walled in room and no woman. There is no exit anywhere to be found. And Klejnot found herself questioning everything she had heard and seen.

Believing she had maybe had one to many or even had way too much of a joint she turned around and headed back the way she came. “The hell was that….” She questioned and looked up at the sky. No one would believe her if she mentioned the old lady and the fortunes she was told. She knew not what to make of them anyways when she had tried to think over what was said before breaking off from her walk into a jog to clear her mind. Heading off towards HQ to get some work started for the day.

She was out of breath when she made it to the HQ. Klejnot put her hands on her waist and took a deep breath clearing her head before walking in. Quietly she walked up to the front door, opening it she stepped on in and shouted. "TonyCastelli, Preeyah, Joy, The_Kid, anyone around?" She looked around shutting the door, it was so quiet she made a tapping on the floor as she walked. Rolling her eyes she was not excited to be alone but then again it was still early. She went towards the boss's office and knocked. "Are you not awake yet?"

She heard no movements, not a sound and crossed her arms. She sighed and went around making sure everything was where it should be before sitting down on a chair and planing out her day.

"I think I should start with some errands."

  • Local market
  • Clothing shoppe
  • Check on the pet store renovations
  • Pick up Tony's suit from the tailor
  • Pick up some sweets

She stared at the list and nodded before standing up, though she had not decided on the last one and scratched it out for now. But she remembered she needed to make sure she had Tony's suit. She had taken the outfit to the tailor to get it patched because of a hole she had found. Quickly she headed out, first to the Local Market to gather some ingredients for her apartment, not far from the HQ.

She was wandering around the Market picking up vegetables and fruits, and some meat for stews and soups. Spices, herbs, she was looking forward to it. Maybe she would take some to them all after she made some. So she bought extras, it would be nice, since the cold season was around.

She nodded and crossed off Local market from her list and put the groceries into the car. Her bodyguard shut the door and took her in the direction of the clothing shoppe's. She enjoyed looking around, she was known for always getting dresses and occasionally skirts and blouses. Today she found a cute black and white dress that she ended up picking up and saving for a later date. She smiled paid her bill and took her purchase to the car. She was pleased and crossed off clothing shoppe.

"Almost finished with the list.." She smiled and spoke towards her driver. "Lets stop by the pet store. Need to check it first then it is the Tailor."

"Alright." The driver took the quickest route to the pet store. There was the building in the business district, sure a wonderful sight. She was excited, the black and white pillars replaced the broken white pillars, glass pane windows, rotating door, it was un-accessible but she stepped out and went to the man in charge of the remodeling of her business. "How is it all going?" She chirped. "All is well madam, it should be ready by next week at high noon." He grinned proud that all the work was going so well. "Splendid I will let you get back to it then!" She turned around and happily marched back to the car. Slipping in she smiled as they left to the tailors.

So far the day had went well. Nothing all that bad has happened. Though she stepped out of the car, heading to the best tailor she knew, he normally refused to do work for anyone that worked for the mafia but she knew the man. "Hey Rintelli~ I am here for the suit!" Rin looked up from the counter taking off his glasses and smiled. "Ah! Klej~ How are you today? Was not expecting to see you here so soon. But the suite is ready and in a case all ready to go." He handed the suit to her guard and looked down at her blue eyes. "I am glad to see you here," He continued when the guard had taken the suit out to the car. "Though I will be leaving out of states. Just for some time away, say want anything special?" She looked up at him and laughed. "Do not worry about me. Just let me know when you get back! We can get some coff..." There was a shatter, and the slight sent of burning coming from the back of the shop. Quickly Rin turned and rushed to the back with Klejnot following. Little slow for her liking it was already burning the fabrics and the suits of high paying customers. The man yelled and tried stomping out the smaller of the flames before she grabbed his wrist and started pulling on him. "Out now! Are you stupid!?" She was slapped for trying and stared at him.

A turning point, sirens were outside now, she managed to pull Rin out of the shop, while it started collapsing, before being yelled at this time. "This is why I refuse to help anyone in the mafia! Did you bring them here?" She stared at him and let out a sigh the building had burnt down while they were outside. She looked at him and shook her head. "I would never, why would I anyways?" A cop over heard and asked Rin if he was being bothered by her. Out of irritation he looked at the man, "Please take her away from here. I need to think of what to do." The cop took her by the arm and lead her to his car. "Your coming in for questioning." Her driver watched and gave a nod to her before heading to take everything from the day's tasks back.

Klejnot had finished being questioning. Now in a holding cell she waited, she was alone and listening to the police walking around and occasionally being checked on, just to see if she was still there. It took till the evening, she had finally dozed off head on her knee's. The holding cell opened and she lifted her head up staring right up at a man.... yes her own boss. "Tony I..." She was told to stand and was lead out of it by him. Her guard was waiting at the car for Tony and Klejnot to arrive to head back to HQ. She sat in the back, allowing tony to sit in the front, she was embarrased covered in ash and soot from earlier, her hair looked almost gray instead of a ivory white. She stayed still, thinking over what happened earlier that morning.... the fortune teller was not kidding.

Days went by after she had been brought back to HQ by her leader. She had written a apology for to TonyCastelli, due to his travel out to collect her. She was finding it difficult to keep from doing major work while still under a bit of watch.

She sat in the local bars drinking away her stress. She had not spoke to her closest friend in a while. She thought that she should, but she thought of nothing more then sitting down with her friend Ichigo. She stood and was lead out by her bodyguards. Stopping at the sidewalk she looked up at the sky, cheeks pink from the heat of the alcohol. She headed to the HQ to check and see if he was there.

She entered and looked around waving to Preeyah and Joy before quietly leaving to find her friend. Surprisingly he was not around the HQ so she figured maybe the business district. Though still no luck. It had been hours of searching.

Klejnot stopped for a break at the cafe and stared out the window wondering where he was. She felt her heart strings pull feeling terrible about everything. She got up placed down the money and hurried on out. She already knew she missed talking to ichigo. But she ran as fast as she could down the street. Only one place left to look and that was his apartment. She lived not far from him anyways, but slowly went up the front steps. Seeing the lights on through the window was promising. She knocked only to turn the nob after a few minutes of waiting and with a loud click it opened. There was a heavy smell of blood in the air.

Stepping on in, she made her way to the main room where she saw her friend. Moving over to his body, she sat beside him, eyes welling up with tears as she wiped them dry. She wished she could really tell him how she felt but stood slowly. Placing a call from his house to local authorities before heading back home.  Torn she wished she could have said it to him. But she was to afraid to be turned down and pushed away from him. But knowing he had fallen it was just as bad.

Slamming her door to her apartment shut she let out a loud cry of frustration lowering herself to the floor until she had atleast calmed herself enough to lock the door and go to take a shower. Avoiding the outside world for just a bit.

Later that evening she had attended the funeral. Wishing the best for his soul before returning to HQ. Sitting quietly and watching the others come and go as she drank her tea. It was a headache, but she was very attached to a few people. "A great truth...... whats so great about it...?" She was handed a note before she set her tea down. Reading it had the reason for her friends fall. It made sense but she wished it had never happened like that. Thinking to herself, "Maybe the days will get better. I hope."
