Las Vegas. An oasis with never ending drink, girls and entertainment. A desert diamond on the fringe of civilization. It was a wild town booming with mystery, money and murder. The city was filled with stories. Some lavishly false and some god honest truth. One of those stories is called The Royal Flush. It's explained as a mafia fable, something to sell the tourists on. It's rumored to be true and it's rumored to be false. Those who were in didn't rat and those who were out never knew. The Royal Flush of spades was to be collected from prominent and influential members of the city. Once collected you had the whole city pushing for the change. A rise in new control. Once the flush was in your position you could hand it in, officially laying claim to the city and challenging the current Godfather. To succeed in a dual between the Godfather would give you a win. That morning VictoriaValium had been awoken at the very crack of dawn by her telephone. It was the mayor of Vegas letting her know The Royal Flush has started. Ten, Jack, Queen, King and Ace of Spades would gain her Don a chance to challenge the Godfather and over throw Vegas' power. The city was ready for a change, Don @Shaggs was the leader the city needed. Victoria slipped from the headquarters, lifting the van's keys from @Shaggs office. She didn't make it very far as she ran into @Prof-V-Jameson who handed her the Tenth of Spades. "To start you off." Was the only thing he said to her and continued to walk into the headquarters. Just before he entered the headquarters Prof turned back to her. "They say lucky number seven, but everyone always forgets about 11." It was casual, like he had just commented on the weather. Mysterious, very mysterious. Victoria made it to the garage, started the van and headed down to The Strip. Prof-V-Jameson was giving her a clue and her best guess was the Lucky Strike club. One of the drink girls immediately approached Victoria once she entered the club and brought her to one of the back private poker rooms. Where Victoria encountered Vegas' mayor for the second time today, this one in physical form. "Ms. Blake, very good to see you. Always nice to see you in the club." He was a good mayor for Vegas. Crooked, but loyal to his city. He handed her the Jack of spades. "I'm sure I will see Shaggs later, but send an congratulations from me anyway." He tipped her hat and the waitress from earlier opened the door as if on que. Victoria followed her back to the entrance. The waitress gave her a napkin with "Q 202" written. Another clue. She took the napkin and let the door to The Strip be opened for her. Hotel Apache stood in front of her and Victoria thought about hotel rooms as she mulled over Q 202. She took the chance. Again, as soon as Victoria approached the front desk another woman silently escorted her farther into the hotel. To room 202 in fact. The woman nodded when Victoria went to open the handle. To her surprise it was Nevada's republican senator. "Come in girl." He ushered Victoria into the room. "I like how your boss does business. Give him my congratulations. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have an afternoon delight coming in five minutes." The Senator handed Victoria the Queen of Spades. She walked across the room to the door and was abruptly interrupted from further exit when the Senator called to her once again. "Hey girl, the King plays at the Golden Nugget." Victoria found her way out of the hotel and was back on The Strip with another clue. She crossed the road and entered the Golden Nugget. Victoria had a guess to who she would find next and went to @TonyCastelli's favorite black jack table. Of course, there he sat, talking up both the dealer and a pretty blond. Once he saw her he greeted Victoria with a smile. "Do you still have that card I gave you when you first sat next to me?" He asked the blond. The woman nodded yes. "I no longer need that good luck card now that you are sitting next to me. Can I have it back?" The blond nodded again and pulled the King of Spades from her purse. She handed it to Tony who offered it to Victoria. "Victoria, you already have the Ace." She gave Tony a smile and left the gambling hall. One more clue for one more card. Victoria was the greatest mystery solvers ever. She stood on the sidewalk and opened her purse. Looking up at her was the King of Spades. Victoria had collected the whole set and was ready to give them to her boss. She found Shaggs back at the headquarters and presented him with the gift. It was time for Don Shaggs to take the great roll of Godfather. Victoria and a few of Shaggs best bodyguards accompanied their boss to the challenge, but it was only Shaggs that entered through the double doors. She and the guards could hear voices, raised, a glass shatter and two shots from a gun. Seconds that felt like hours went by and the doors opened again. Out stepped Shaggs. The man went in as a Don and came out as a Godfather Chairman of Las Vegas. They continued onto the bar to join the family and to celebrate. "Congratulations!" Victoria smiled to her Godfather. "Congratulations Godfather @Shaggs. You came into Vegas, an empty city with the late Dovakhiin. You took Summerlin, saw all the opportunity it had and turned it into something. One single crew built itself into a district which built itself into a city. There isn't just criminals here, these aren't just members. There is family here, there is a community here." Victoria raised her glass to her new Godfather. |
