The Trip: Chapter 3 Started by: Sal_Lucania on Feb 18, '18 18:36

The trip had been perfect, the weather, hotel, food and the ability to just relax and enjoy spending some time together. They would be heading back in the morning and he wanted to spend their last day relaxing and just planning for the future. They had different approaches and talents in this life. She was the political one, she could negotiate any situation, whereas he was hot-headed and tended to use force to solve any problems. They both were business minded and she had decided on a race track to be her first venture. Luca had been thinking long and hard about what he wanted and he decided that a Restaurant would be his venture. He loved good food and would be a good front to have meetings and things at. He would have it designed for fast exits if needed and well protected so that anyone in there would not be trapped if a raid or attack happened. He had not shared this plan with Marie yet.

They got up leisurely and headed down to the beach, their cabana had become their favorite spot to be. The view of the water was unbelievable it was just a peaceful place they could be alone. They had brought some coffee down that they were drinking as they chatted.

"So how is the planning on the track going?" he asks her trying to start a conversation.

“To be honest I have not done much planning lately. The real estate agent is suppose to get back with me this week with some numbers, but apparently I am not the only one to express an interest in the track. The agent thought we might be looking at more money than I had originally anticipated.” She drank her coffee and then closed her eyes to feel the wind blowing off the sea.

Luca thought to himself and came to the conclusion he would help "persuade" this other party that they did not want the track. He would not tell her how he was going to do it.

"Well I will look into it and see what I can do," he told her.

"Are you going to approach Rick about joining with you on it?" he said

They had talked extensively about the subject and he had decided to leave it up to her. She was right about wanting to make connections and having a Don as a friend could come in handy. He was still unsure of Rick and he hoped that they just got off on the wrong foot. He knew the man as a Don and he was used to doing things a certain way.

Marie turned her head to look at him.  "My gut tells me it is the right move to make and I believe I can handle him.  There will definitely need to be some boundaries set for him.  I will not be going to him as a beggar in need of his charity.  If he can't accept the ground rules of the partnership than I will find another partner or find a way without a partner.  He may be a Don and use to getting his way, but he will learn to show respect if it is the last thing this Sicilian woman does."  Marie smirked.  In her experience, including with her husband, men just needed a firm hand when dealing with them.  This Don would be no different.

"Yes ma'am," he says with a smirk

"So I have been thinking of my own business," he tells her

Luca had been deciding what to do since he gave up his operations in Miami. None of his contacts would work on the west coast. So he decided to go forward with an idea for a restaurant.

"I am going to open a Fine dining restaurant specializing in traditional Italian food," he tells her with a smile.

"I am going to be taking a trip to New York to set somethings up."

Marie sat up excitedly.  "New York?  You have to take me with you.  I have never been to New York before."  She smiled.  It was nice to see her husband start thinking of setting something up himself again.  Right now it seemed he was gone all the time doing work for other people whenever they need the job done.  Now he would be calling the shots again like he had in Miami.  This was very welcomed news, indeed.

"Of course you can come with me, that is if you can get away," he said to her

"I am thinking of naming it after the most important person in my life," he said looking at her.

Luca took a sip of his coffee and admired his wife. She had made him the luckiest man alive the day she said "I do" and he knew it and would never forget it. The life they had chose was hard and dangerous, but he knew they could get through it together.

"I am going to call it Maries," he told her with a smile.

Marie squealed excitedly and practically threw herself at him.  She smiled and kissed him so deeply, her body laying on top of his in the wooden chair.  "I am so excited for you!" She exclaimed happily.  "I think it is a wonderful idea and with a name like that how could it not be a glowing success."  She grinned and kissed him again.
