I had a thought the other day and I wanted to run it up the flagpole and see what you guys think.
I don't know if this subject has been brought up before or not, I read back on some older threads and didn't find anything. Anyway, on the subject of wacking, I thought that a unique thing would be to have the people that wanted to be mostly in hit squads could maybe train to specialize in a certain method of wacking. For instance, if someone wanted to be good at being sneaky and use a garrotte wire for a kill, they could train for that. Or train for demolitions, sniper, knives, machine guns...whatever. That way your family could have a team for whatever kind of job that needed to be done, depending on the circumstances. Get my drift? Would that be plausible?
In other words, say a new member starting out wanted to RP as a hit man. He would start at a few kills, then get to rank up at certain levels and choose a particular method to train in instead of just a gun. Say he wanted to become a guy who was an expert in explosives and would start out with maybe grenades, then as he got more exp and more kills, he could train up to dynamite. That sort of thing.
And maybe have just regular crew members that don't really want to do a lot of wacking and maybe just want to be earners or what not just train with a regular gun so if like a war or something breaks out, they could just be muscle to back up the elite guys. Maybe this would be too complicated to code into the game, I don't know. I think it would inject a whole unique level of strategy to the game. What do u guys think? |

Why? This is a RPG, role play it. As a dark judge I don't shoot people, I reach into their chest and stop their heart. The wack system works fine , within the confines of the game as is. There's no need to train in a particular weapon, just imagine you use what ever weapon you want... Like the former Jedi GF, boabywan kenobi who killed his foes with a lightsabre |

Also, adding to 'being stealthy' using specific answer sets enables you to do this without having to 'rank up' as Judge said, rp it's what the game is all about. |

Thanks for the feedback, guys. As I am new to this style of game and still feeling my way around, my understanding being enhanced everyday by the experience of fine gentlemen, or ummm, beings like JudgeDeath here, like yourselves. You both presented strong, valid points. I think I'm beginning to get a grasp on the style of role-play here, but I'd like to get a few things cleared up from my perspective, and by all means, correct me if I'm wrong, as I know you both will.
This paragraph below is what I read from the tutorial:
"Role Play is the act of playing a part, and in this game refers to your character assuming the role of an 1930's up and coming criminal of the eight cities in the time of the mob culture. It is akin to acting, only in the textual sense."
Now I realize this is a different style than other RPG's I've played in the past, and since this is supposed to take place in the early 20th century, I can understand JudgeDeath's character because well, he transcends all conundrums of space and time. But a lightsaber? How is that relevant to being a gangster in that time period? Can someone please explain this to me? Am I misinterpreting anything in here? I am not trying to be critical here, just want to make sure I'm following the general pattern here.
My idea, crappy as it may be, was presented with the intention of fleshing out your character in more detail, not to make the game more complicated. SO, what you guys are saying is to not let the game dynamics limit you to fleshing out yourself, but to allow your imagination and writing ability do it so you won't limit yourself? Is that correct?

As long as the general grounding for your character places him in Prohibition, why not? Jedi, for the record, build their own Lightsabres upon graduating to the rank of Jedi Knight as they no longer need their masters blade. Why can't Boaby have built one? I understand what you are saying though... and in essence the characters here have always been a little unique... take a look at the plethora of wierdness in the 60 second list when you come online. |

I see what you're saying, JudgeDeath....DEAD is DEAD, as you would know all too well. I guess it doesn't really matter how you do it, as long as its done. Thanks for clarifying that.
