Value of the Streets Started by: BrotherHec on Feb 26, '18 17:27

What is the value of the streets in your eyes and what is the value of your city being active in the streets?

Whether you are a crew leader or a person discerning which family to fall in line with you surely have an opinion about it. Im just curious what that may be. From what i hear, in the past those who were active in the streets were favored by their families. Those who were not so keen on speaking in the streets found themselves shamed by lower class criminals. Then you had the other side of this sphere of madness were some spoke a little too often about nothing.

All this being out there. All this being known it brings me back to my question.

I would like to share my thought on this mystery myself. The streets hold immense value to me. I love leaders who speak. I do not care how talented they are in their words i just love the fact that they come out and speak. I love made men who come out to share stories, i don't usually listen to them but i love that they take the time to share them. So for me when i was considering which crew to join one of the many factors that played into my decision was city wide street activity. I loved the thought that New York has many individuals who speak up and share stories. I loved that the Godfather was and still is one of the most active people in the streets.

Now this is not to say your city is a failure in my eyes or that my city is better than yours but it is something i found and continue to find very valuable on my path. If my thoughts weigh heavily to active voices i imagine i am not the only one.

So i just wish to reiterate what i have previously brought forth. Ill ask it in a different way that may bring up more responses. Do you hold a higher esteem for those who come out to the streets or are the streets just purely a waste of time to you.

In the mean time i got some wonderful desserts for everyone so feel free to have some and share your thoughts.

First of all, I would like to thank you for bringing this interesting speech to us BrotherHec.

I completely agree with some of your thoughts sir. It is important that streets are active and blooming with activity and speeches, which keeps our community interesting and generally alive. However, to gain favor just for street presence is wrong in my opinion. There are many ways someone can help their crew-district-city. Some people feel comfortable when speaking to large crouds and some don't but they do help in other ways.

I would also have to agree with you that leaders should be active on the streets. Set the example for their members, inspire the community and create a fertile enviroment in which everyone can find a place to speak their mind in a healthy and respectful way. Gladly, we live in an era in which leaders are doing exactly that.

Finally to answer your question, someone being vocal on the streets is certainly important but for me, it's just as important as other aspects of what someone does in this life in order to help their families.

BumbleBee was wondering by when he heard a couple of mobsters speaking in the streets. He was standing by the street corner, looking at some nice suits on display by the tailor's shop. Dressing well was something he took pride in, and adding to his closet was always something he would look forward to. This conversation that he kept overhearing was messing with his focus though. He turned around to see a familiar face. He saw BrotherHec finish up his bit as Diogenis took center stage. BumbleBee took some puffs of his cigar listening to the two wise men. Feeling the urge to add to the conversation BumbleBee steps forward and tips his hat to the two gentlemen.

I believe in the old ways, call me a piece of antiquity if you would like. I believe in mobsters being about and around in the streets. I mean come on, were not white collar workers sitting behind a desk or blue collar workers, working the assembly line. Our job is very simple, pound the pavement and deliver for our bosses. Granted we have to maintain a bit of discretion so we keep the heat low. But at the end of the day, if all I did was sit behind my desk, it would be really hard to pull off a heist or knock over some PO's to keep the $$$ ticking.

Now dont get me wrong here, our bosses go out there way to make everything we do here more legit. The more legal our business is the better, keeps the heat off us. Still though, there is so much money that is made in the streets that we cant just go completely legit. We would be taking immense losses by not providing moonshine, under cover bars and rackets. Someones gotta feed the thirsty men of America, its the American dream!!!

He checks his tie and takes a couple of steps forward clearing his throat and taking a swig of his whiskey flask.

All jokes aside though. Our world is built on some very simple traits, you earn or you kill. Earnings can be split up in numerous sections. Some people believe in earnings via the Bars they run in the Business Districts, a different form of currency. Some are all about the heist and knocking off Banks and such. To each their own. Everyone of them delivers in their own way to the Boss. Hell even the ice cold hitmen that I hope I never see, serve a purpose. All part of La Cosa Nostra. One thing though that to me matters most is presence. You can be a top earner in your crew, or a top gunsman in your crew. But outside of your crew most won't know about you. Some like that aura of secrecy, which is all fine and dandy.

In my eyes presence is what preserves our mafia culture, a culture built on these streets. What my two friends here talk about will inspire other mobsters to be better at what they do. Tales of glorious hunters, inspire the young shooters grinding the ranges. Guys with billions in bank accounts inspire a new breed of earners. The future of our Mafia is built here by presence on the streets. Its why its almost necessary that most leaders make their way out here. Their tales of success are paths to be followed.

Otherwise whats the point? You can be a ice cold slayer, a multi-billion dollar earner. And one day a little hiccup in business happens and everything is gone. Happens all the time in our part of the world. If you truly want to give back to La Cosa Nostra, for what it has given you. There is no better place to give it back then the streets. Inspire with your success and you will forever be remembered.

BumbleBee takes a puff of his cigar and shakes some hands about the circle. He had a meeting to tend to, his ride was waiting. The clock was ticking as he made his exit.

I do agree that it is nice when leaders speak in the streets, I enjoy listening to what they have to say whether I actually respond or not.

In the past I was too worried to speak up in front of so many people. I am starting to get over that a bit but it is still a nerve wracking thing. To be perfectly honest I figured not saying anything was better than making a fool of myself. It's not like I didn't speak out ever or anything, I just picked my spots extremely selectively.

I have learned though that as long as you are respectful to others you are not going to make a fool of yourself. People are not waiting around to make fun of you for one slip up or slurred word. I have always enjoyed listening to the discussions in the streets and I plan to actually speak up and take part in them more.

I think when the leaders are out and about giving speeches and taking part in discussions it keeps everyone more engaged and makes things more interesting. So I suppose I favour leaders who have a presence in the streets, but I don't judge the ones who don't speak out much either... if that makes any sense.
