BEEP!! BEEP!! BEEP!! BEEP!!
Monty's alarm sounded to his empty room. He was already awake and downstairs, he had been for a couple hours now. He had lots to plan today, a celebration to set up. His 1 year anniversary with his girl was coming up and Monty had to make sure it was one she'd never forget. He had been with her that long now and she had done so much for him he was always too busy, or too ignorant to repay the favor, so this time he wanted to make sure it counted, he had a lot to make up for.
After brewing over it for a long while and a couple cups of coffee he finally grabbed his coat and started to reach for his keys then stopped, deciding he'd walk today. A stiff breeze hit him in the face as he stepped outside throwing his coat over his shoulders and slipping his hat on. As he walked through the store he ran into one of his favorite people. Haley looked into his basket and saw the flowers and a couple other small little gifts and noticed the cards.
"Who's all that for?"
Monty looked surprised, then he'd remembered that the two had never actually met before.
"Heh, it's for Kelsie, it'll be a year here soon. I'm tryin to make it count ya know?"
Haley looked in the basket again and ran her hands through it to see what was there and shook her head.
"Monty, hun, you might be able to talk better than anybody I've ever met but you really are clueless aren't you? I swear, if you want to make this one worthwhile, well, you're gonna need my help, here, let's put all this back and go for a walk eh?"
As the two walked down the street she pointed out a different shop, one Monty didn't even know was in the area.
"There, that one, we'll start here."
"At a dress shop?"
"Ya, of course silly. You want to get her something nice to wear if you're gonna take her out don't you?"
"Well, I guess, hadn't really thought about it. I don't even know where to start."
"Well, since you are obviously clueless I'll help you find one that looks nice, we need something flashy but not too revealing, now what size does she wear?"
Monty just stared blankly at Haley for a moment.
"Oh dear, well then, maybe we'll have to come back to this another time, I can see I'm going to have to meet this girl. Well, we'll do this part some other time, on to the party itself, now, what were you planning?"
"Well, I'm not sure, she has been talking about going back to see the ocean again for a while now."
"Well, now you're thinking, that's a good place to start, we can set things up there, I have a little cabin on the beach, you two can use it for a while, and you could use the break yourself." |
