Marie slipped a coin into the pay phone and dialed the number she had been given by one of her contacts in the Philly area. She had heard that Don @FredDavis might be interested in going in as a silent partner in owning a race horse. Either way it would be good for her as a new CL to make the contact. When the connection had been made she introduced herself to the Don. "Hello, this is Marie Lucania out of LA. I do not know if you have heard of me or not as I have only recently risen to some level of notoriety in this thing of ours. I have heard that you might be interested in going in on owning a racehorse, as a sort of silent partner. If that is something that you are interested in doing, I have located a stallion here in Philly that I believe would make a great investment. He is for sale for a million dollars and he is here at your local track if you would like to take a look at him and to see the research I have done on his bloodlines." Marie bit the corner of her mouth as she waited to hear the Don's response. |

Fred answered the phone and heard an unfamiliar voice on the other side but listened intently as the subject of this call was something he had been thinking of for a bit now Hello Marie Lucania, yes this is something i have been thinking of for a while now and i have also been going to the track a lot lately. This horse you speak of, What is his name? I may have seen him run a few races here. If it is the same horse i have had my eye on i will gladly go in on this as a silent partner. Fred leans back in his chair as he listens for Mrs. Lucania's response. |

"The horse's name is Double Eagle. He is had a fairly good run as a two year old and looked sharped in his first 2 races as a three year old here in Philly. He is in his prime in my opinion. His broodmare had a note-able string of wins during her racing career and his sire has produced several stakes winners. Have you seen him run?" Marie started to get her hopes up. She really liked this horse and wanted him, but training and racing was very expensive undertaking. She needed some outside funding. |

As soon as Fred heard the name he knew the exact horse she was talking about, this horse had made him a fortune in his last race as he was an 80-1 underdog to win. Fred had put down 500k on that race, it was an off the books race you could say but he knew this horse was fast. First where are my manners, congratulations on becoming a crew leader in LA. Yes i know this horse very well, a story i cannot discuss over a phone call but i will help with financing this purchase with you. I feel this venture can make us both a lot of money as long as he is healthy. What are you thinking financial wise? I can invest quite a bit so do not be shy on what you may need. Fred knowing this may be on the pricey side is willing to take the proverbial bullet on this undertaking. |

Marie closed her eyes and did the math in her head before responding. "Thank you for the congratulatory. Like I said the sale price is a million. We can stable and train him at my track in LA to help cut down on costs. So the only thing left is the cost of a trainer, a jockey, feed and medical on the the horse, and the entry fees. I am calculating half a million up front from both of us and then monthly dues of $50 thousand. We can split the horse's earnings 50/50. Sound fair?" |

Fred listened to what Marie had to say and also did some math of his own. That sounds fair, ill put up $550,000, $500,000 for the up front costs and $50,000 for the first month. You want to draw the papers up? I can buy the horse and have him delivered to you or you can come out this way with the papers and i'll sign them and we can both go get the horse. I am ok with what ever you decide from the point forward mam. Fred take a drink of his whiskey while waiting for a response. |

"I flew into Philly this morning to have a look at the horse. I will go have the papers drawn up and get my half of the purchase price brought in. That will also give me some time to book rail transportation back to LA for the horse. I plan to travel with the horse myself to ensure his care and safety. How about we meet in the morning to conclude the deal and pick up the horse?" Marie grins excitedly. Finally her dream of owning and racing horses was coming to a reality. She had always wanted to do this since she was a little girl watching the steeplechases in the old country. |

Yes the morning will be a great time, gives me time to get some rest. I'll meet you say 9 to 10-ish in the morning down at the tracks and we can go from there, i have an office we can go to and check out the papers. I know you have your own bodyguards but id like to send a few of my own guys to ensure the horse also get to LA safe and sound without any hiccups. I look forward to this partnership and what it can become, also to the money we are both about to make. Fred get ready to hang up but stays on the line to see if there was anything thing else Mrs. Lucania needed before heading off. |

"I am very excited at the prospects this partnership has and I look forward to see you in the morning. Have a pleasant evening, sir." Marie waits as the Don gives his salutations as well and then she hangs up the phone. She had so much to do and so little time! |
