Vito drives home after a long day of working at the office. Eager to unwind, listen to a little music, maybe cook himself a nice little meal. His hand on the steering wheel as he glanced at the people and cars going past his window as he drove down the street toward his home, a quaint decent sized home just outside the downtown area. He sighed a breath of relief to be done with work, at least for today as he pulled into his driveway shortly after. Turning off his engine and exiting the car as he grabbed his overcoat from the back seat and walked around the car toward his front door. He stopped as he brought his head up and saw his front door ajar. Quickly and quietly he tossed his overcoat over the railing around his porch as he reached under his coat grabbing his Colt 1911 from his holster against the left side of his ribs. Pulling the hammer back to load one into the chamber he crept up against the wall toward the front door, seeing the doorknob mangled and the wood around the latch broken and chipped. It was clear it was kicked in and Vit didn't know if anyone was still inside. He wasn't taking any chances though as he slowly pushed the door open, gun in hand aimed down the hall as he slowly crept in his own home. His breath quickened as he silently made his way down the hall, the light from the tv from the opening to the left shining on the wall of the hall as he inches his head around the corner to see if someone's there. Nothing, the tv left on despite Vito knowing he turned it off this morning. Just then he heard a clunk in a nearby room. He turned quickly and crept swiftly toward the noise at the back of his house, rounding past the kitchen as he hears the back door bang open. Realizing whoever it was was getting away he quickly gave chase out the back door, quickly daring his head back and forth for a suspect when spotted a man running off a good hundred yards ahead of him. He considered giving chase but he was already tired after a long day. His gun still gripped in his hand as he watched the man run away and disappear. "What the fuck?" He muttered to himself as he returned back into his home from the back door, examining his house to see if there was any clue as to what that man was searching for. "Shit!" He almost shouted as he came to his office where he kept all manner of important documents and files pertaining to his funeral home dealings as well as his dealings at the G.S.E. His heart started racing as he darted first to his desk to check for the hidden locked compartment underneath. He breathed a sigh of relief as it wasn't open. Then he remembered the safe in his closet. He stood before the open doors and could see the bang marks and burn marks on the front of his still sealed safe. It didn't seem like they got in he thought to himself, though who it could have been was still concerning him. "What the hell was that about? Who was that fucker?" He mumbled to himself after conducting a more thorough examination of his home to make sure nothing was missing. He knew this was bad, it meant someone, somewhere wanted to know more about what he was doing, and THAT he could not have. He had to find out who was snooping into his life and work.. |
