*Disclaimer* Very tired .. I appologise if not everything makes sense... Carry On!! Krash approaches the gathering spectators and clears his throat. A train can be heard off in the distance. Welcome fellow mafioso's, The turning point and the act of Betrayal. So many times and in so many ways I've seen friends turn on each other, I've seen partners sabotage the other and I've seen trusted associates rat those closest to them. So this warrants a question in my book. What causes that point to come to wear where you think it is ok? What the fuck is so bad that you can't live with yourself and continue with your day to day. Who the hell broke your "moral" ground as to the point where you feel they need to be removed... they helped you get to where you are and you helped them to where they are... Over and over I hear of people switching sides just when things get rough, numerous times I hear of those abandoning their family for a little gain. In what world are these things practiced and these practices accepted??? Feel free to Comment(DUH) |

You know sir - I have seen what you speak about and also lived it. I have seen people jumpship during their family being attacked but later become great leaders in our world. I have seen allies - swear up and down to loyalty to their allies.. then when the time comes they sit back and hide like cowards. It all comes down to self preservation and power in my eyes. We all want to get to the top one way or another.. some take that route Points at a sign that says COWARD and some take the other route.. Points at the omerta and loyalty sign. When the going gets tough my friend.. there are not many that keep their word, but those that do should be kept close as they are true allies and friends and business partners. In our world of crime - We respect those who respect the ways of our criminal life. |

On one hand; Self-preservation will always be in our world. Is it accepted? Of course it is. Our leaders are concerned with preserving themselves, and their organizations. It's a symbiotic relationship, The carpenter uses various hand tools to accomplish what he must. The leader uses people and delegates their talents to accomplish the task at hand. All in all, the leader needs to survive for the family to survive, but without the family, the leader is nothing, left stripped away naked and weak in the elements. People only see a piece of the picture, that the leader must be preserved to hold the family together and perhaps this partial idea is even held by leaders themselves, and thus trickles down within the ranks. Cynicism on the leaders part does not command loyalty and thus members adopt the same loyalty the leader holds towards the family. On the other hand; Perhaps a betrayal is not a betrayal. Maybe the bonds of friendship are broken, but the traitor remained true to himself. Two brothers were given adjacent farms. Both made a pact to be fruitful with their new ventures, and most importantly to feed the hungry. One brother is wise, the other is careless. The wise brother gathers his men and seizes the land from the foolish brother. With both lots, he accomplishes his original goal (profit and harvest), while if he did not act, he was in retrospect breaking the pact he had made and betraying himself. |

*Coughs* I believe that respect and loyalty goes hand in hand. I would not be loyal to someone, which i didn't respect, and my respect isn't that easy to come by. Ofcourse it gives respect to be a Godfather, or other high-ranking. Especially to people like me, new to the game. But, if i had been treated dis-respectfully, i would not feel the same need to stay loyal to my family, as i feel it now. If people are to expect loyalty, they must think about their own actings, and how they treat people. I know there has been another thread, mentioning how the Godfather should be more harsh on their underlings, but i'm in the believe that you can be strict and harsh, without being respectfull.
