| Rewarding Disloyalty | Started by: Symfora on Mar 30, '18 19:33 |

"Mario, it's time." Symfora whispered to her friend. Today they had been watching the daily events and back tracking through some journals. It was always important that they looked into the patterns that were forming around the community they were a part of. It would never do to repeat history in such a horrific manner as so many others do. "For what?" Mario had asked. "You already know! It's time to take up a new discussion. Just a little while ago someone said there wasn't anything new to bring up. Nothing in which to talk about. But I got it! Today it dawned on me that we are seeing an alarming pattern in our midst." Mario said very little and just walked with Symfora to the streets. He would support her no matter what she did and would be there for the backlash. There were not many people in this world that ever had anyone's back the way he did. Someone who would stand up for you in any time and believe in you. This was the downfall of our current ways. Loyalty was so rare among the people these days. Everyone had a habit of getting so wrapped up in paranoia that they couldn't trust anyone. And those they did trust turned around and murdered them in cold blood. It was a tiring circle and Symfora was glad not to be at the top. She wouldn't wish that fate on anyone. But it brought up certain questions as she took her place in front of a crowd. "Have you ever noticed the increasing amount of people that are selling their cities or families out for gain to themselves?" She began. Her voice clear and steady as she spoke. "We see this becoming an increasing thing. Hands given prominent positions that allow their cities to be slaughtered and even offer a helping hand as the blood oath they had sworn to those people melted by the wayside. Do our oaths mean nothing? When we take on hand positions in our world are we not promising to be there for our leaders? Not to gather information to sell them out when it benefits us. This is unsettling. It speaks of a large rift in our structures when even the hands cannot be trusted. But there is a bigger problem. With these snakes seems to come promotion. Are we now rewarding disloyalty with the ability to house people? To teach them our ways? And what exactly would they be teaching? To lay loyalty by the wayside? To show that people are so selfish that they cannot be trusted for more than the smallest of things, if that. I like to think that crew leaders should be the ones that are loyal, the ones that have proven themselves so. But with the promotion of the most disloyal and distasteful actions we are seeing that thrown by the wayside. Are things so desperate that we are now resorting to this method?" Symfora had began to shake. Her feelings grew extremely hostile as she began to think of the people that had worked hard. That could still show loyalty to those that push it aside. Were they blind? Did they wager it was just a phase passing through that would soon go away? She found herself curious and she looked to Mario and shrugged. "Why are we promoting disloyalty in a community that should be rewarding those who remain loyal?" |
