GAME CHANGE: Credit/Hustle Point Eligibility Started by: Squishy on Apr 24, '18 22:17

We are going live with a admin toggle that will set a person, crew, district or city to be able or unable to claim credits via lounge, codes, contests, or achievements and hustle points.

I enjoy giving out hustle points and credits, the past 3 months I've averaged near 8,000 free credits given out a month.  I would like to continue this, however...

We really need to up the standard.  Too many users are doing the absolute bare minimum to qualify for stuff.  When you see 'lol' being said 13 times to keep eligible for credits on Lounge or hustle points in the outside, it really makes me look at the crewleader and sigh.  When I see Outside replies with 2 letters, I just look at the crewleader's name and think - wow, is this because you don't follow up on your crew, or is this what passes as good representation for your family? Your members are a direct reflection of your standards and ethics.

I encourage crewleaders to rise up above the filth and have a little more pride in what your crew does.  Leading by example and proper encouragement can really raise the image of your crew.

Once toggled, you will be unable to claim free rewards from the game for 7 days.  Your second strike will result in a lifetime ban.  Switching accounts to bypass this will result in the loss of your character when enough work has been put in to get the point across.

When it becomes obvious that leaders are not working with their crew to solve this problem, that crew will be toggled.  This continues to district level and then city level.

The lack of effort from a lot of people in the game has put a lot of new rewards and features on pause, which is self defeating for the users.  I would love to turn on some new stuff, without having to open myself and staff up to baby sitting your members on a daily basis.

Thank you for your time,

Izzy

I don't understand how OOC/outside would be a representation of our families and the same for IRC. I was under the impression there was to be a divide between the two. If it was the streets I think I would understand this a little better.....

well the only thing i can say about the IRC is some know the need to just say something so they put no effort in saying something to grab the prizes they did not earn and that is meant for those who actually contribute... that is being a muff.

Ive also seen those who just wont shut up and spam nonsense everywhere. Its distasteful and childish.

Could we have some specific boundaries set, just so we're all clear and no mistakes can be made?

For example: Is the three-word-story thread in Outside okay to be used to complete the hustle? If not, what sort of spam are all those random meaningless Outside threads going to cause? What would you rather, instead?

I agree none of this reward scheme should be abused but I think the boundaries need to clearly set so no mistakes are made.

Report Post Tip

Qualifier: Lifetime ban. Live of current character, and you'll give someone a new chance with a new character, or permanently on that account?

Also, I'll be the one to say it, but i have an intense dislike of the crew toggle. At some point, you are punishing me, as a (insert non-CL/hand rank) for what other people in my crew are doing. If you want to take the same route as with DDs, and temporarily or permanently ban a CL and his hands from the hustle, fine. Hold them to their job. But for the love of god, Do not punish other crew members for that.

Now, as i also get your point, permit me to not just bitch, but also make a suggestion. If you're going to use the crew toggle, consider an option to exempt any given person with a good record of posting [threads, comments, IRC, whatever] from the ban. At the least, this way if someone is doing a top notch job, they can still receive credit fro that even if their crew or CL is doing a shit job of it.

I’m sorry Squishy I have to agree with Serana & Titania. The bullshit posted there can even offend me, yeah believe it or not. People talking about nothing and posting youtube videos and songs may me great for some children but really has nothing to do with a game based in the 1930s

I think that it ridiculous to have to go to a different website to talk about a game were playing on another website.

If you want to punish someone just punish the people that are abusing your system. Not the whole crew. And yes I can't sit there and type bullshit, so punish me and not my crew members that use it in the correct way according to you.

I do spend some money on MR maybe not as much as others but a lot more than most. So just consider punishing the offenders and not everyone.

Report Post Tips: 2 / Total: $200,000 Tip

If the OOC forum posting thing is such a problem, why not just remove that as one of the hustle requirements?

And even for the IRC thing, get rid of the "check eligibility now". People know they only have to talk once every 30 minutes. I have literally seen people go "oh hey, it's time for me to talk again" and then not say anything else for another 30 minutes. Why not change it up and don't let people know the time limit?

I get what you're saying and I mostly agree with it, but you also make it really easy for people to game the system and then you get mad when they do just that.

Izzy, this is a terrible idea, I have to agree with the others, why ban CL's, Members and cities  because of someone else's action on a lounge chat, If maybe there were actual conversations on there it wouldn't be so hard to engage with some people.

Personally I am not interested in peoples dog shitting all over the kitchen or how small their you know what is or their favorite song at the moment.

Some how take away the offender's  eligibility but certainly not the crew or city, I can not babysit crew members in the lounge to see if they are ass hats or not!

I like the benefits don't get me wrong and are appreciated, I hope you see others point of view before implementing this action.

Not gunna lie, making people do certain things just to keep up in the game is never gunna go down well.  Not everyone wants to talk in the outside forum. You make it a requirement for them to do so and the quality of the posts are going to suffer.

And no offense, but punishing an entire crew, district or city just seems like a knee jerk response to me.

Report Post Tips: 2 / Total: $40,000 Tip

If I might add.. I, like many others nowadays, play a lot from my mobile phone. When playing this game from my phone, I have to switch tabs (and stop playing the game) just to go to lounge. Because of this, my lounge activity is very minimal because frankly I choose the game over lounge.

We are here to play the game, not play "lounge". I can message my city/district to not post garbage or take advantage of the system.. but I disagree with babysitting them there. If you are going to basically push people to use lounge, then someone else can babysit them there.. but I'm not sacrificing my MR time for extra time in lounge. It's counterproductive in my opinion.

Thanks for reading!

Well it looks like there are pretty strong opinions on this so I'll make a code change alleviating the responsibility.

We will make this opt-in on a crew level. Those that want to self police can take advantages of the rewards and those that don't want the responsibility of governing their crew can opt-out their crew.

I should have this coded in shortly.

You know what I think we need to all give it the old college try.

I guess I'll speak for myself, but I truly do enjoy this game and I love the people I play with. Granted I'm not super active due to school and work but when it is time to RP i put effort into my role-play. I'm honestly not a huge lounge person but when I'm on I try to engage people and talk to them, do the social butterfly thing.

I think we all need to respect what Squishy is throwing out and give it a try. We can't sit here and fully judge something until we go through with it. Let's try it out and then present squishy with the pros and cons we discover.

And I'm sure things can easily be tweaked and improved over time when we can present certain faults, errors, and "issues".

I've played mr for a very long time. This daily hustle thing is new to it, but there has always been a requirement to show respect and keep your posts to a certain level of quality, but then, posting was never truly required before now.

I myself have noticed that quality is decreasing, sometimes massively. But when you're making it a requirement for people to post then what more can you expect?

If you're gunna punish crews/districts/cities for poor quality posts then it's only fair that you remove the requirement for people to post from the daily hustle. Some players are only playing MR for the game. It seems unfair to make them write in the forums when they have no interest in doing so, and in some cases may even lack the literary abilility to write an eloquent post and then punish them and their crews for not living up to your expectations.

Leave the writing to those who enjoy and take pride in it.

This is my opinion based on my personal observation, when i write something in lounge and somebody else response to it while we all together waiting for the game or credit link to pop-up. I feels like its a party. We can say anything we want. The one that need's to be take care of is Capslock, spamming, swearing .. However any insult or disrespect chat among players can be allow by their own responsibility and dare to take In-game consequences among players. Generally the platform is a Party. CreditParty. To Have fun

Report Post Tip
It's really rather silly to hold crewleaders to account for OC/OOC stuff. I for one have no desire to either be a 'big brother' or have one watching over me.
Report Post Tip

I would like to preface this with that I truly appreciate the amount of free credits that I have been able to obtain through your personal effort Izzy and I would love for the quality of lounge chat and the games forums overall to increase! I personally do not know how many people are just responding with one or two words in the lounge chat to ensure eligibility for credits/hustle points so i may be talking from a point of ignorance :)

I believe that if you have requirements to obtain rewards, there will be people who will attempt to do the absolute minimum to qualify (one of the biggest reasons why the 3 word mafia story is so popular or any of the other spam Outside forums.). This is the issue with having an algorithm work out whether or not people quality, its open for abuse. I have and am currently doing the came with the caps lock program in lounge, due to my character talking in caps lock.

I kinda like your solution to the problem, having crew leaders moderate members post. The main problem is that people have different standards to what they believe is low quality content. What may be spam to someone is reasonable content to others.

I think the solution is to create a voluntary moderator team, who agree to what a set standard is, and moderate the forums/lounge chat. alongside this, implement a spam report button so people can report posts that they believe to be spam. This will allow you to implement an algorithm for minimum content whilst ensuring people who attempt to abuse are opted out as needed. The disadvantage to this would be the time required to recruit/train said team.

Tbh, I think I share the viewpoint of most in this thread that I find it absolutely ridiculous to expect CLs/Hands to monitor whats said in a chat facility like Lounge. The Cls/Hands aren't any sort of authority in that area, thats an OOC area and isn't under our control Why should we now control it?

Are we saying there are no longer any lines between IC and OOC?

As for the Forums - thats fine. There is a clear distinction there of what is and what isn't IC or OOC and its easy to monitor the use of it as things are in view and recorded for CLs to be able to check.

So personally - I feel like the above constraints would be within reason if it was limited to Game actions. I don't consider Lounge/IRC as being a part of the Game aspect as its not a character that goes there, its the user and the users are all equal in that area and shouldn't be monitored by their CL/Hands.

Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $100,000 Tip

Real convos take place in IRC and outside threads. I believe these places are important to the game and I love that people benefit from this. Other people spam in elaborate ways and are rewarded all the same.

As a crew leader, are we supposed to demote or send a member to the obits because they may jeopardize others' ability reap the benefits that you make available in out of game areas?? Stopping the money sure does put a damper on operations... If a CL chooses to opt out, they essentially give up their members' right to choose. Because opinions change with the times.

Whether I agree or not is irrelevant. When I read the terrain, this sounds like a crew rules modification and a punishable violation comparable to disrespect.

And until such time the world ends, I will act as though it intends to spin on....
