"Rebekah!" growled Marcel, "We're going to be late and you promised." "Oh darling, you just can't rush a woman when she is getting ready." Marcel was growing agitated as the time grew later. They were supposed to go to a ball this evening. One of New Orleans most high class and most sociable events of the year. Rebekah had long been dreading the day that she would have to do a favor for Marcel. It always involved being overly girly. Not that she minded sometimes dressing up but she preferred it to be her choice. The fashion for this ball was long dresses with many petticoats that raised the skirt. She hated the outfit during their time period, she certainly did not wish to be wearing it now. Turning to look at herself in the full mirror, Rebekah thought she looked gorgeous. The dress was of a dark green and looked amazing with her eyes. She wore an emerald necklace to match the dress. Her earrings were far more simple but no less elegant. Underneath the dress she had worn her more comfortable heels. They weren't nearly as tall so she wouldn't stand out among the best of society. Her hair was done up and a ringlet fell over her forehead and across her cheek. She smiled as she turned around. A small laugh escaped her lips. Marcel had been holding in his breath as he watched the young woman. Tonight he was dressed in his finest black suit with the matching leather shoes shined up. He looked good and he knew it. A smile crossed his face as he whistled at her. "Absolutely stunning and worth the wait. Let's get going." Reaching for her arm, Marcel led her towards the door and out into the hall way. They made their way down to the front of the house where a carriage was waiting for them. This evening seemed to be full of surprises for them both. Rebekah had always loved horses and the carriage was a really nice touch and gesture from Marcel. She settled in for a quiet ride, and waited it out. Watching house after house pass her by until they were finally close enough that her nerves started to set in. "Are you sure this is the favor you want to call in?" Rebekah asked. "Yes. Now hush. We are almost there." Marcel effectively cut off the conversation between the two. This may seem like something hardly to call in a favor for saving her life but being here with Rebekah was his way into the home. He had always thought there was some magic here and tonight he was finally going to find out. But he would need to keep a leash on Rebekah's more basic instincts. She wasn't always reliable to behave herself or to stay put. As the carriage pulled up they were invited into the home. Passing their invitations to the right person as they walked through the doors. Coats were removed and they were soon shown to the ball room. It was gorgeous and the lighting couldn't be more spectacular. Rebekah thought they looked lovely in the light together and made Marcel dance a few times with her. Soon enough he let her go and smiled. "Behave yourself, and for the love of all that is hell do NOT drink anyone." With those words, Rebekah was left on her own. Seeing that her escort had left her alone there was a long line of single gentleman wishing for a dance with her. She laughed and regaled them with small talk. Loving being the center of attention she swayed with the music and moved with all the right steps as sweet nothings were whispered in her ear. One particular gentleman decided to get a bit handsy with her and her mood turned south. Her eyes clouded over with an annoyance that most people wouldn't recognize. She took his hand and led him to a dark alcove. Many of the guests left the alcove alone thinking that it was a pair of lovers going to enjoy a tryst. Once she had him behind the curtains, her fangs made an appearance and she bit down hard. Her hand covered his mouth so his sounds were muffled. She drank enough blood to make him woozy but not to pass out. As she turned, she heard a familiar growl in her ear. "I told you not to drink anyone." "Darling, you would have drank the poor sod yourself if he had been getting handsy with you." "So you just leave him there to recover and point out who did it to him?" Marcel asked. His logic was starting to kick in and he could see potential problems with the situation. "Master, may I finish him off?" Rebekah's eyes rolled but she tilted her head to look up at Marcel. Defiance was written on her face. "You might as well, its the nicer thing to do to the guy." With the permission she needed she sank her teeth back in and finished the job. Settling him up on a seat in the alcove so he looked as if he had fallen asleep, both Marcel and Rebekah left the area before suspicion could be placed on them. |
