:Downstairs, things were going much more quietly.  Sly and DarkSpike were about to crack the vault.  Though they were slightly distracted by the disturbing ruckus above, fantastical images of the goods that awaited them flowed through Sly’s mind:

“I think I got it, boss,”  DarkSpike said.  “Why don’t you give this a good kick?  That should do it.

:Sly kicked the crowbar, and, with an ugly CLANG, the huge door creaked slowly open, revealing a room the size of a walk-in closet.  For several minutes, the pair was in awed silence, bouncing around the room from mounds of cash to stacks of gold bars to elegant glass cases filled with diamonds.  They looked at each other, open-mouthed:

“Diamonds first,” Sly said, and they began to fill their bags with as much as they could carry.  Diamonds first, then gold, then cash. 

:All the while, the noises upstairs gained volume, until finally, just as DarkSpike and Sly were about to head back to make their escape out through the hole they had hammered into the wall, they heard a loud bang from above:

Darkspike, who was grinning, but with evident concern, looked at Sly. “What was that, boss?  Another grenade?  Or just a gunshot?”

“I don’t know, but there’s not much that we can do for them now.  Dayman’s a big boy.  He’ll take care of them.  Let’s just get out of here.”

:And they slipped out the hole to meet a very excited TheGodfatherReturns with the car:

Reverse waits patiently and anxiously in the hideout for his Boss's to return. As he begins to light his 8th cig' Sly and DarkSpike pull up in the get-a-way car with TheGodFatherReturns. "Hey Boss, what did you get this time" Sly responds and says, "Reverse, this is bigger then me, bigger then you, bigger then the family, what I am about to show you is big. If I here you tell anyone about this I was kill you myself"

As Sly begins to open up the bags, Reverse looks in amazement. "I'm speechless boss" "Keep it that way!!" Sly says.
