In his truck, a man in his mid thirties sits with one of the world's largest industries beside him. Moving house to house, as per a daily routine, the milk man delivers with a smile on his face. This man, a clean shaven gentleman around 5'6 and well trimmed, was no ordinary milk man, however. He had many dark secrets and works much more than the neighborhood. He, like many others in the neighborhood, was a boss, and presented himself very well. A lady, his wife, worked just as hard. She takes care of the home and the two children. One of which she had recently taken in, in light of the death of his father. These children we know well, as our very own Johnny and Ricky. The children were always outside doing God knows what, and the mother, not yet knowing they got involved in the mafia, had no clue of the next series of events. Most of the housewives never did, as they pretty much kept to themselves. The milk man, known as Sully, heading back to his HQ before heading home, was sorting his final deliveries and checking his bankroll, making sure not to be short. He never encountered this problem, as his customers were quite accommodating. He walked into the HQ and noticed his boss sitting at an old poker table, waiting on him. "Hello, boss. Here's the day's keep. Just right, as always." The boss looked at the money and counted it quickly. He gave the man his cut, and he got to go home. His boss wasn't much of a talker, so as long as the money was right, he didn't have to say a word. The boss just nodded and said "Thank you. Good night, Sully." The next day, the man went to work again. His truck smelled of mold and old socks, so he gave it a quick scrub down before making the first round of deliveries. On the left was his cigarette load that went to the warehouse, the right was his pot (or cocaine, depending on the day) shipment that was distributed to some of the other guys in the crew, and everything else was milk, delivered to regulars around the neighborhood. His day was long, but the cash supported him and his family, so he didn't complain...except about those damn kids, and almost every day he'd shout at least 10 times a day: "HEY YOU DAMN KIDS! STAY OUT OF THE ROAD!!!" "Hi dad!" Johnny would run up to his truck and make faces at him, just acting like a kid and not raising suspicions about his own gig. "Hey Johnny. I need to get back to work, buddy. Here's $1 each for you and Ricky. Go get some candy or something." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The kids waited until Johnny's dad cleared the scene. They then went back to Mr Castillucci's shop. The sign on the window read:
Their business was done in the basement, and the door was always unlocked for them. They walked in and locked the door, then walked downstairs to get their next assignment from their new boss. They'd been working for him for about a month now, and haven't had problems yet. The boss said nothing. He handed the boys an envelope and said "You know what to do. Be back in one hour." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Here ya go, Miss Luciana. Have a wonderful day!" Sully had finished his last delivery for the day, and once again encountered his boys walking along the sidewalk with the envelope. Johnny saw him and gasped, quickly hiding it in his jacket, and walking as if nothing happened. "Hello, boys, whatcha got there?" "Oh, nothing. Just a note from school. I'll show you when we get home." "Alrighty then." Sully was very agreeable, yet curious. He knew when something was up, but always kept his doubts, and never lets his suspects get away for long. "See you at home." |

Johnny and Ricky walked into the house after going to the candy store and ran straight upstairs. "Boys! Please come downstairs for a moment. I have something to tell you." Nervewrecked, Ricky thought of something quick. He was about to say something when Johnny's mom beat him to the punch. "Look. I know about what you guys have been doing. I found stashes up in your room of drugs and money. I haven't told your father yet, but once he finds out, he's going to put a stop to this mess. I know you guys are just trying to make money, but take it from me and your father, Johnny Ray, being a mobster is no way to go. Your father got caught in the business through his ancestors, and he hopes to end it before it gets too far and gets to you. I can see it already has, but it will be stopped." Johnny's mother didn't know too much about the mafia, and one thing the boys knew and didn't have the heart to tell her was once you're in, the only way out is a bullet. Johnny hoped it was just words of optimism, and that his mom wasn't quite that nieve. "Yes mama. I understand. Please don't tell dad, though. He'll be devestated." He and Ricky then went upstairs. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Later that night, Sully and the family had dinner. Johnny was picking at his plate, and Ricky already had gone for seconds. Pouring the boys another glass of milk, the man noticed his son was down about something. "What's wrong boy? Bad day?" Just as he was about to answer his father, he saw a man in the window directly in front of him. It was his boss gesturing him to come outside. "Come on, Ricky. Business. We'll talk later, dad. Ok?" "You most certainly will not!" Johnny's mother wasn't having it. "Sit down and finish your dinner." The man saw the mother tell the boys to sit back down. He tried another approach. *Knock, knock, knock* "I'll get it, dear." Sully answered the door and saw the man. "Yes? Can I help you?" "I'm sorry to bother you, milk man. My name is --" The outraged mother stepped behind him. "I know who you are, and you won't have any more business with my boys. Got it? Get off my doorstep!" "Have a nice day, ma'am." Sully looked at his family. "Family meeting in the living room...NOW!" ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Sully paced in front of his family, angrily. He sighed in disappointment and fear. "How did you get caught up in the mafia at such a young age? Ricky, does this have something to do with your father's death?" Ricky and Johnny took deep breaths. Here it was - the bitter taste of confession. "Well, about a week ago, we stumbled upon the black hand..." "SHIT.", Sully thought. Suddenly, it all made sense. Ricky's dad had been killed, and the boys were told to join or die, in not so many words. "Enough said. Well, you're in now." He turned to his wife. "There's nothing they can do, or us. You have to let them do their business, or our whole family dies. Mobsters aren't so kind to let someone out because of age or mother's will." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next day, the boys went about their business. Sully watched them inconspicuously throughout his day, as to make sure they did things right. Every time they went out to do a task, if Sully saw them, he'd watch. The mother, worried as ever, continued her task of cleaning and cooking per a usual day. The milkman and his family were in for a long ride. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Boys" The boss began "This is a big day for us. We have a lot of work to do. Did you get the shipment of coke yesterday?" "Yes, sir." Johnny spoke first, as always. "It's at home, in my bedroom." The guys looked at each other with worry and disgust. Why in the world did they trust a couple of kids, anyway? Giving them the benefit of the doubt, the assistant boss said with great hesitation: "Why...in your house? Won't your parents find out?" Knowing they couldn't say anything, Ricky thought fast. "Not if we get it out in time." "Now," the boss said with a shit-eating grin, "you're thinking like the mob. Lets do this." The guys got together and started formulating a plan. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
