Hazel sat there in her seat, head against the window, with her eyes closed as the bus came to a stop. It had pulled into the bay at the station with quite the abrupt stop, which jolted her whole body forward. What made it worse was the fact she was mid dream, the details of which she couldn't actually remember. All she knew was that she woke up in a panic, bracing herself for something. She grabbed a hold of the nearest thing she could, which happened to be the leg of the elderly man she was sitting next to. He wasn't startled by it one bit, he just gave her a look and smiled. Placing his hand on hers and muttered a few words. "It's ok dear, we are here. That was just the bus stopping in the terminal, for some reason these guys can never just stop gently." She gave the man a look with a half smile on her face, slowly pulled her hand from his, then peered out the window. Seems they were here, well she could see the strip but the sign above the station door said Welcome to Las Vegas. Clearly that had to mean they were actually here. Which was about time cause what was supposed to be a 5-6 hour bus ride felt more like 10. With so many elderly people on the bus, the driver needed to stop every so often. It was like riding with small children with a lack of bladder control. It was what it was though, taking a plane was a bit out of the question. Even though she would have rather flown, her financial situation wasn't what you would call ideal. Yes she could have stayed in Phoenix but it would have been a struggle for her. Her parents wanted her to settle down, start a family and do as they did. Now, they were great people, always treated her as a princess but their ways were not hers. This venture to Vegas was something they were completely against and something they would take no part in. It was all on her, this was a complete shot in the dark she was taking. With the little bit of money she was able to stash away she bought herself a one way bus ticket, leaving herself enough for a motel room for a couple days. That was about it, that's all she had to her name. It was on her to find work and to find it quickly. As soon as the bus came to a complete stop, the driver opened the door. He stood up and in a stern voice began speaking. "This is it everyone, we're here. Make sure you grab all your belongings, cause it's time to get off." She continued to sit there and patiently waited for the old man to get up and grab his small bag off the floor in front of him, before she made her way out of her seat. She only had a single bag with her. It contained a couple of outfits and the bare essentials, being that she didn't know where she was going to be staying she wanted to travel lightly. It was finally her turn to get off the bus, though just standing up was nice. Finally being able to stretch her legs made her feel alive again. She just stood there for a couple seconds before walking down the aisle of the bus. She made her way off the bus, a wall of heat met her as she took her first step off, it wasn't anything new to her. Temperatures in Arizona weren't what you called cool and favorable. With a deep breath she took a pair of sunglasses out of her bag then tossed her bag over her shoulder and began the walk towards the Strip. Figuring the best place to look for work would be in a casino. They were everywhere and knew they were always looking for help. Any job at this point would be a good job, well almost any job. |

The walk was a long one and on top of that the heat was quite intense today. There was no cloud cover at all and it was late afternoon, pretty much the peak of the heat for the day. Was a perfect time to be walking about... Hazel decided to take a quick break, getting out of the sun for a couple of minutes would go a long way. Just up a head was an awning of a mom and pop sandwich shop, there were a couple tables outside covered in the shade which no one was sitting at. So she made her way over to the closest table and sat down. She gave a look around, the buildings on the Strip were in sight and not that far away. Just a little bit more walking and she would be there but the question at hand was where to actually go. Should she just walk in the first casino she saw and start asking around? She sat there and thought about it for a moment, kind of oblivious to her surroundings as she began cooling off. That was until she heard an older mans voice. "Excuse me, Ms.! Hello!" Hazel looked to her right, there stood an elderly man with an apron around his waist. It was filthy, had a bunch of food stains on it. Was a sign that this man was the pop from this shop. "These tables are for paying patrons, if you aren't buying anything you got to get up and move on." Hazel stood up from the chair and grabbed her bag. "I'm sorry, just need a quick break. This heat is a killer today." Feeling a bit bad for the woman, the mans demeanor almost instantly changed as he smiled at her. He could tell she wasn't just homeless bum. Was dressed way to nice for that and definitely didn't smell like one. "You know what, we aren't busy right now. You can stay for a little bit longer." Hazel smiled from ear to ear. "Really? Thank you!" She sat back down in the chair and placed her bag on the floor. The old man gave a look over his shoulder, there wasn't anyone at the counter and whatever the patrons inside needed his wife could handle it. He decided to take the seat across from her. "Hope you don't mind if I join you?" "Oh not at all." He untied his apron and placed it on the table before taking a seat. "So I see you've got a bag and well you look kind of new around. What's your story?" She looked down at her bag then back up at the man. "Kind of obvious, huh? Well you're right, I'm definitely not from around here but I needed something new in my life. Needed to branch out from the normal ways, if you know what I mean?" He gave her a smile and a nod before speaking. "I understand that, we aren't from this area originally ourselves. You have things lined up here, a job and a place to stay?" Hazel looked at him with a blank look on her face. "Uhm, well no. I figured step one was to get here and then find a job at one of the casinos. I have enough to support myself for a couple days, figured it wouldn't be hard to find some work." The man looked at her a bit confused. "That sounds like a terrible idea but today is your lucky day. I happen to know someone in the casino business, a higher up. There's a casino just up the road a little bit called the MGM Grand. Ask for Dollface, tell her Patsy sent you. She's quite the bigwig and well one of my regulars. If she can't help you out, come back this way. I can get you some work here, a pretty face like yours would probably bring in a bit more business." Hazel's face lite up. "Wow, thank you. Like seriously thank you. No matter what happens, I'll make sure to come back this way." The old mans wife began yelling for him. He gave a look through the window and shook his head. "I have to go see what the old lady wants. Good luck to you and I hope to see you back here some time soon." |

Hazel sat there for a couple more minutes enjoying the shade, as a slight breeze blew through the street. It was a warm breeze but a breeze nonetheless, which offered a slight relief from the heat. She could still hear the old mans lady giving him shit for sitting down. Now she couldn't make out if it was because he wasn't working or because it was her that he was sitting with, regardless though she didn't come outside to yell at her and that is all that mattered. Figuring she had sat there long enough, it was time for her to head over to the MGM Grand. The only issue now was, where was it at? She didn't know the area at all, this was all new to her. Hell she didn't even know which street she was currently on. The old man said it was basically around the corner, it couldn't be that hard to find or could it? Grabbing her bag off the floor, she tossed it over her shoulder then started walking again. When she came to the first four way street, she glanced left and right, then straight ahead of her. She couldn't see any signs for the MGM Grand and none of the buildings stood out as a possible casino. So she just stood there puzzled. Just then a man crept up from behind her. "Excuse me Ms.! You seem a bit lost." Hazel whipped her head around, to see whom was talking to her. To her surprise it was some kind of fireman or at least he was dressed like one but something was a bit off about the man. It didn't really matter though, hopefully he would be able to point her in the right direction. "Uhm, yeah could you tell me which way the MGM Grand is?" "Ah, the MGM Grand, hook a right then at the first street hook a left and its up on the right side. Only a five minute walk from here." Hazel gave the man a smile. "Thank you, I for sure would have gotten lost." "It's my pleasure, just be careful." "Careful? Careful for what." "Well that's good you asked. The name is Bill, Fire_Marshall_Bill and I'm all about safety. So, LET ME SHOW YOU SOMETHING! Say you're just walking about and you decide to cross the street while not looking cause you thought you saw somebody famous. You're just walking and walking and then..." Just then Bill walked directly into the street and promptly got hit by a car. Hazels jaw dropped as she covered her mouth in sheer panic. She was about to run over to where he was at but Bill jump up and dusted himself off and casually walked back over to her. "See, danger is around every corner. Safety first!" Before she was able to say anything else Bill wandered off to the next person. He was definitely something else, if this is what Vegas people were like this could be interesting. She just shook her head in disbelief. Hopefully his directions were proper, the only way to find out was to keep on walking. Hooking the right, walking for a bit then hooking the left she found herself standing in front of the MGM Grand. |

The moment she walked through the front doors a cool gust of the air conditioned air met her. It was probably one of the best feelings she ever had, well maybe not the best but it definitely ranked up there on her list. She had finally made it, the journey that started in Arizona many, many hours ago has finally gotten her to this moment. Now all she had to do is find this Dollface person. She had no idea where to even start with that but figured the best way was to just ask someone that worked there. She gave a quick look around the place, it was super busy. The gaming tables were packed, there was not an open slot machine to be seen and the line at the front desk wrapped around the corner. It was kind of shocking to her, on how busy it actually was. She didn't even realize there were this many people in Las Vegas to begin with let alone just in this one place. It was kind of awesome, the hustle and bustle of it all. it was definitely the atmosphere she could see herself getting accustomed to. Now to find someone to direct her to Dollface. She began walking around the casino floor, trying to find someone that was working there that wasn't busy. Though that was a harder task then she thought it would be. It wasn't for a couple moments until she spotted someone that didn't really fit the part of a casino goer. He had long curly hair and a top hat. The thing that stood out the most was the guitar he was carrying around, who walks around carrying a guitar? Not even that, it was a guitar like nothing she had ever seen before. Was almost like it came from the future but that wasn't possible or was it? She shook that notion out of her head and headed over to the man. "Excuse me!" The man slide his sunglasses off his eyes, down to the tip of his nose and gave the woman standing in front of him a good look before talking. "What? What do you want?" "I just wanted to know if you worked here and knew where I could find Dollface but apparently I'm bothering you so I'll find someone else." The man chuckled and smirked. "Yeah I work here and no you aren't bothering me, I just thought you were another crazy fan. As you know, how famous I am around here." Hazel cocked her head slightly and gave him a look. Was she supposed to actually know who he was? "Famous? I'm sorry I have no idea who you are, I'm not from around here." "Whoa! You've never heard for the one and only Slash?" "Hash? Nope!" "It's Slash, not Hash." "That's what I said, Hash... Anyways nice to meet you but could you direct me where to find Dollface?" The look on his face at this point wasn't the most pleasing. He wasn't sure if she was fucking with him or just could understand him with all the noise about. "Again it is SLASH! Though if you are looking for Dollface, she should be up in her office. Head down that hallway, at end of it there's a set of stairs. Go up them and turn left. Keep down that hallway and her office is at the end, you can't miss it." Hazel glanced up at him with a smile. "Sweet! Thank you Hash. Hopefully I'll see you around." Hazel immediately began walking down the hallway before he had a chance to answer her. |

It didn't take her long before she was standing in front of Dollface's door, which was shut. Though she could tell that she was in there, the frosted glass was good for hiding things but you could still see the shadows on the other side. Hazel composed herself, taking a deep breath before lifting her hand to knock on the door. Just as she was about to hit the door she stopped. She remembered she had been traveling the past whole bunch of hours, which probably meant she didn't look the best. Didn't want the first impression to be a bad one. She knew she passed a bathroom on her way up here. First impressions were everything, at least that is what her mother always told her and a woman of Dollface's stature you didn't want to show up to her door looking like a slob. So she back tracked back down the hallway until she found the nearest bathroom. It was a single bathroom, which was nice. Wasn't one that she had to hope was empty and clean so she could change in peace. She made sure to lock the door behind her before placing her bag on the sink. Unzipping it she pulled out her nicest outfit which happened to be a black summer dress, it wasn't anything overly fancy but it was the nicest thing she had brought with her. Hanging it on the hook that was on the back of the door, Hazel reached deeper into her bag and pulled out a brush, her toothbrush and more importantly some perfume. It took her a couple minutes to get herself ready, she made sure she was looking the best she could with what she had to work with. Since she only had taken the bare essentials when she left Arizona, she didn't have a whole lot to work with. She was presentable though, that is all that really mattered. She jammed everything back into her bag and tucked it in the corner behind a plant. Figuring she would come back for it right after she met with Dollface. With one more quick look in the mirror, Hazel unlocked the door to the bathroom opened it and headed back up to where Doll's office was located. There she was again, standing in front of Doll's office, this time the door was cracked open a bit but she could tell that Doll was still in there. Hazel took one more deep breath before giving the door a knock. There was no response, so she waited a couple of minutes before knocking again. This time it was a bit louder, which must have gotten her attention. "Who's there? Ah never mind just come in." Hazel was about to respond but Doll just told her to come in. She opened the door and there she was, seated at her desk. There were papers and boxes everywhere. The place was a mess and Doll even though composed looked like she hadn't slept in a week. Hazel took a couple steps into her office and maneuvered herself around the boxes until she was in front of Doll's desk. "Can I help you?" Doll looked up at the woman standing in front of her. "Yes, well hopefully you can." There was a quick moment of silence until Hazel continued. "My name is Hazel, I'm not gonna stand here and give you a long speech or anything since I can see you're quite busy. I'm looking for a job and I talked to an old man at some sandwich shop down the road. Said his name was Patsy and that I should come see you. So here I am. I'll take anything, I just need something." Doll paused for a moment as she gave the woman in front of her a look over. "Patsy you say? That old grumpy bastard sent you?" Hazel looked at Doll and smiled, she wasn't sure if it was a good thing to name drop him but it was too late now. "Uhm, yeah..." "He actually talked to you?" "Yeah, he sat down with me. We talked for a couple minutes before his old lady told him to get back inside." "Hmm..." Doll sat there and pulled her glasses to her nose. " Well considering he doesn't talk to anyone, I'm a bit impressed on how you actually got him to sit down with you. You know what, I definitely need help around here." "Oh that would be great, I'll do what ever. I just need work, I got off the bus just a couple hours ago so yes please." "Bus? You just got into town?" "Yeah that I did so this job will really help me." "Well my dear, I'm not sure what it is but there is just something about you and the fact that Patsy talked to you means you aren't just another body in the building. I'll tell you what, I need help here with me. As you can tell, I have my hands full. You can work directly with me and we will see what you have to offer. You think you can handle that?" Hazels eyes lite up as a big smile went upon her face. "Of course I can, when shall I start?" "How about right now?" "Where shall I start?" Doll took her hand and motioned all over her office. "I need you to organize all of this and don't worry I'll pay you nicely. Oh I'll also have them set you up in room here, since you said you just got into town. Impress me and you will go far." With a smile Hazel walked over to the first box and opened it up. This was going to be one hell of a process but this was just the opportunity she was looking for. "I won't let you down and again thank you." |
