The Family Jewels Started by: Tyrant on May 23, '18 18:19

Days after the 48 hour war, the dust is beginning to settle, with the dead being mourned, the bodies buried, and some signs of our world starting to recover from all the chaos. People are starting to accept the new way of life and beginning to go about business as usual.

However, one man is not pleased of the out come. One man who's father heroically gave his life to protect others. A son who was neglected by his father, as his father always did what he could to help his "other family" but did little to help his own. Enter Tyrant, a young man with little to his name and not much of a "REAL" family to speak of. A man who has looks at his new found friends from the war as more of a family than his own. He knows of his "REAL" family of course but feels he must turn his back on them just as they did him. Shortly after the war, Tyrant received an anonymous letter.

A shadowy man walks up to Tyrant and hands him a letter and says "your father would want you to have this." Tyrant opens the letter... in it simply contains $5,920.

This is pathetic! Tyrant exclaimed to him self after counting the money.

Now 5 grand may seem like a lot of money to most in trying times like these, but Tyrant knew his father had MILLIONS of dollars stash all over the place.

Greedy bastard. I bet he even took that money to the grave with him. Tyrant began to ponder.

At this point, a thought came about. Thinking that his father took all his money to the grave with him, at first, was a sarcastic one, but began to become plausible. Even though Tyrant's father worked for the well being of others, he knew when it came to money, his father was a greedy man.

Tyrant, sure of himself now, would get his proper share of the family fortune... whether his father liked it or not.

Hazel was making her way through the casino floor, looking over the table games. Just to make sure that things were running smoothly and if they weren't to report back to the boss lady. She wasn't completely sure what she was looking for but guessed if something wasn't right that it would stand out to her.

She made her way to the roulette tables and watched them for a couple minutes. Satisfied things were good here she made her way over to the blackjack tables. Watched them for a few moments and again felt everything was running smoothly. There was so much security in place and so many employees that had gone through extensive pre-screening that there really wasn't much to worry about. Plus anyone that knew the people in charge here, knew that doing anything negative against the house meant brutal consequences.

Satisfied all was running smoothly, Hazel made her way off the casino floor. That's when she saw him, well she could only see the back side of him but whomever he was he had a shovel in his hand. Yes a shovel and a shovel in a casino was quite the odd sight. This wasn't normal, quickly she made her way over the man.

"Uhm, excuse me!"

He turned around, that's when Hazel recognized the man. It was Tyrant, a casino employee. A sigh of relief went over her but she was still curious about the shovel.

"You know you freaked me out, it's not often you see someone walking through the casino floor with a shovel. Can I ask what the hell you are doing?"

She said with a bit of a chuckle.

He began explaining everything and what he was going to go and do. Digging up a grave wasn't the most sought after thing to be doing but it was something Hazel had done. She wasn't proud of it but there was some good stuff in some of those graves.

"Well if you someone to join you, I'd come with you. Would get me out of the casino for a bit."

Tyrant was flattered by the offer, as he is still getting used to people willing to offer assistance and help him. Tyrant looked up to Hazel, like the sister he never had in the family he wished he had. So this is what family is supposed to be like. Tyrant thought to himself. Flattered, but not taken back by the offer, Tyrant gave his reply,

Well, you digging your share of graves, I'm sure you know it is a lot easier with an extra set of hands. So, it would be my pleasure to have you accompany me. By the way, how do you feel about a trip to New York?

Tyrant explained how his father was originally from New York. After his "passing"  the body was moved to Brooklyn for it's final resting place. With Hazel on board, Tyrant was more than ready for his quest for his father's loot.

Then Tyrant remembered, even though the grave yard is not really guarded there is the undertaker (a Mr. Jacob Kramer) who keeps watch. Luckily Tyrant is familiar with the man as he had done some other risky business within this grave site before and knows he could be easily bribed to "look the other way".

Hmmmm... Maybe I should call ahead and make arrangements.

Tyrant, making sure he doesn't use his the casino floor's phone to conduct business, makes his way to a near by phone booth to make the call. After a few rings Mr. Jacob answers.

Hello... yes Mr. Jacob... it's Ty from Vegas... Hey bud how are you?... Listen, remember that thing I had to do a few months back?... Well instead of one going in I need to take one out... Well not the whole thing I just need to go in and grab something... $20,000? You know I'll take care of you.... I'll be there tomorrow and I'll ring you ahead of time... Thanks bud.

With business taken care of and all basis handled, Tyrant and Hazel start to load up and begin their 12 hour trek to New York.

"New York!"

Hazel thought about it for a moment. It was somewhere that she had never been, hell the further east she had ever been up to this point was Albuquerque. Not many people at all would consider that the east but that's as far as she had ever gone., not that she hasn't wanted to go just that she really never had the opportunity.

After just a moment of thinking, she decided it was something she couldn't pass up. Well the digging up of the grave could be left out but the trip to New York, that was one she just couldn't pass up. She just hoped that Dollface would let her up and leave for a couple days, that was the only thing that would hold her back.

"You know, hold that thought for a couple minutes. I just need to make sure that Doll is ok with me leaving for a couple days. Just stay here, I'll be right back I promise."

Hazel hurried up to Dolls office, she was sitting at her desk nice and relaxed. Things had been running a lot smoother the last couple days, if there was any time to take a quick trip this may have been the most ideal.

"Hey boss lady, you mind if I take a couple days and go help someone with some business in New York. If all works out well, I'll come back with a bit of cash to toss your way."

Doll looked up at her and gave her a smile.

"Go ahead, things here are running good. I can definitely do without you for a couple days. Just be careful out there, make sure you come back in one piece."

"Of course! Wait one piece?"

Just before Doll was about to speak her phone rang. She began chatting away with the person on the other end and just gave Hazel a wave. With a shrug of her shoulders she promptly made her way back down stairs where Tyrant was at.

"Alright, let's go. Wait do I have to bring anything?"
