Pickpocketing Started by: BlueBelle on May 25, '18 13:49

Alejandrito walked into the @BlueBelle-raised discussion about pickpocketing, mugging and the consequences a tad late. He heard N0b0dy telling some things he fully agreed with. Yet nobody raised the issue that bothered little Alex most.

Maybe everyone thinks everything has already been said on the topic, but look at me! Look at my suit!

I just beat the crap out of LisaSurihani, who pickpocketed me and tried to get away, but now.. my whole suit is smuthered with blood-stains.. and other undefined body liquids. And guess what, those bloody pickpocketers always make sure they have no money on them at all. So guess who will pay for the dry-cleaners? Right! N0b0dy will!

Lisa heard a noise mentioning her name on street corner where people discussing about pickpocketing,
Its Alejandrito who recently beating her down but get nothing out of her pocket. Unfortunately Lisa never play dirty, when she on rush to pickpocketing, her pocket is full with cash. While her left hand going under for her victim wallet, her right hand is on standby to hand over the gain to the accountant.

You still have the chance.

You PICKPOCKETED! Alejandrito. You took $7,500.
Alejandrito caught up to you and beat you down. They took $0 back. As they walk away they say, "<3".
Your accountant has made payment of $7,500 to Alejandrito. The note "You late brother." was included.

I do pickpocketing mainly to hone my skills. The money is not that important and i will most of the time send em back with a little note.

To be honest i dont spend alot of time looking if people have stated an oppinion or not about being pickpocketed, after all we didnt come into this thing of ours to ask permission now did we. That being said if i am aware of someone being strongly opposed to it i will leave em alone unless there is absolutly no other target in that city, which there more than often is.

About mugging to me it is very simple, if i steal people shit it will cause a respond if they spot it. So i consider it standard to be mugged and that it is my job to bank my hard earned cash if i dare to steal from others.

I dont see pickpocketting as something meant as disrespect towards the other, merely a way to build skill and experience on my way to power, glory and fortune in this thing of ours.

N0b0dy brings the bottle to his lips and listens to Killer speaking.

I'm having a hard time following your statement, as the first part of your opinion contradicts the last part.
First, you state "if you pickpocket anyone you should be prepared for being mugged. But at the end of your speech, you mention,
"Mugging them leaves for the chance of a gun being taken, I don't understand why someone would want that for another family member."

In my book you can't claim both to be true, family or not. If you feel the need to train your skills and want to do so on the family, I feel you should ask them first. That way the disagreements you mention are easily avoided. I don't wish for you or anyone to lose their gun. It, however, becomes very possible the moment you decide to pickpocket anyone

Getting close to the bottom of his bottle, N0b0dy steps aside for others to be heard.

Mugging should absolutely not ever lead to the chance of a gun being used ridiculous Why would it? Are you upset someone's took all your money or gun without permission??? Don't put yourself in that position then Don't bloody pp or if you want to there is a ton of NPC's to do it too people make a mountain out of a molehill with it its simple

Let me remind you of the context the first was about the general population. The second was about family members. If I pp anyone outside my family I expect to be mugged.  I see what you did there though .

You can say you cant claim to be both. Yet there are tags that hold "PP Friendly to Family only" so im not sure what your book says, but what I don't understand  is the a lack of mention on how PP can help family members. Just because you may not enjoy building your sneakiness does not mean its not useful and to be looked down upon. Pickpockets can be used to test bodyguard witch is a big play in war. What you are telling me is go find someone else because I refuse to help you build something even though you are in my family. How is that a family at all?

First let me to address Killer. You claim that you should respect family members but is following someone in your family around and pickpocketing them knowing that they do not appreciate it, respecting them? I do not think so yet you insist on doing this. This would make you a hypocrite would it not?

BlueBelle looks over at the right hand of the family and smiles. Her good humour and nature returning to her once again.

I fully agree with you in that when you take the first action and stick your hand into a pocket, you should always be prepared for the retaliation of being mugged. Perhaps leaders need to stress the possible consequences of pickpocketing a little more thoroughly.

Cathair, thank you for clarifying a little more. I really do appreciate this. I couldn't agree with you more. Once the situation has had its action and reaction it should surely be done.

Donny_Donowitz, thank you for joining us out here. You make a good point. I do my best to not have money on hand very often. I don't think that this is ultimately what decides whether or not pockets are touched though. I get a lot of hands in my pockets lately and as I said I rarely keep money on hand.

Alejandrito, oh my! I never even thought of all the blood that splatters. I am thankful I can afford to get some dry cleaning done every once in awhile. Might want to soak the stains.

Somnyoneshoe, That is a very fair stance to have when regarding the whole situation.

Renegade, thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.

If you think I am following you you are delusional,  I Pick your pocket when I see you because of how pissed you got the first time and ill continue to do it.  Respect  ? lol It took you till now to mention me why because Nobody did and he backed you, im sure you thought id be quite because our RHM sided with you but I really do not care who sides with you,  it could be Dar himself and if I disagree then I disagree . Ill continue to pp you, and when I can reach him I will start pping him, if you take it personal that is on you. Iv no issue with  you but you seem to have one with me .

There really shouldn't be any argument about it killer is correct he can pp whoever he likes in effect, hes happy to receive a mugging or so so that's pretty much case closed if this is what this is about

is this a inner family grief thats being aired on the streets? is that what im getting from this?

looking at BlueBelle, Alejandrito adds

Isn't this the beauty of it all?
Some people care, some don't, some use it to check how one's protection is, how easily accessible their pockets are, and some are very wary of that. Some people love a good mug, some never will, some accept the risks they take, some don't.

That is where the beauty of the subject is. There is an almost infinite range of possible outcomes, from an unnoticed incident to a person being shot by their leader, because they shot at another gangster who mugged them as a retaliation of being pickpocketed. And apparently.. The possibility of being in one and the same family makes it even more complex!

Alejandrito pauses for a moment, pulling an eyebrow up as if he was thinking..

As he steps back, it seems that apparently he wasn't..

Pickpocketing, what an interesting topic!

When I joined the game, not too long ago, I assumed that mugging would be the natural outcome of a caught pp attempt, then all these pretty tags "PP friendly". So I was like "Hey, I enjoy PPing, so I write down PP aswell so I let people know I won't be attacking them for playing that game".

I have fun with PP because it's some like of exciting interaction and challenge that won't cause too much trouble (except for these rage shooters), unlike that... well that kinda World War it happened. So on the other side I usually rather PP someone who's not friendly (or not wearing a tag) and risk something more, also because if I PP a friendly one I feel like giving the money back, they may be hesitating to mug and won't be fair; if I keep the money, also if they're much less than a good drug trade, I feel they are more earned than a simple drug click.

I'm not sure how many get mad over the moneys though, it's not a big amount that could be stolen, I understand the thing about testing the defences, but I'm not a shooter, so if they worry about that their problem lol, I had more people complaining when I couldn't even take their money, also been on the hit list recently. So yeah maybe I can be a nuisance but won't cause any more harm.

And oh, yes, being PP friendly doesn't mean like I walk around throwing money at people, I'd appreciate if people give them back, but never mugged if they didn't.

Okay, now the discussion arrived at such a point that it makes sense to say a few things from my point of view. First of I want to thank BlueBelle for bringing this topic up for discussion in public. Second I would like to thank Killer to stand by your convictions and through that interaction added to this discussion.

Both of you have access to our family rules that clearly state my point of view on PickPocketing. Do as you please while under strong recommendation to pick your targets with care as I am don’t plan to be involved in any disputes. That is unless a life-threatening situation occurs. Killer being called out here is his responsibility. BlueBelle’s interpretation of disrespect is hers, but that does not make it fact necessarily.

I don’t believe that tags, ranks and the roof under which we sleep comes with deserved respect. Actions and words do. Respect is a reward, but not a gift you can claim. I personally don’t think a border of disrespect is being crossed here. Both parties take an approach that wouldn’t be my own, but then again, these people do not share my character. I appreciate them both for who they are, even though they may be clashing on this topic. As long as their different approaches and ideas don’t endanger the operational efficiency of my family, I gladly let those differences be.

That brings me to what for me is most interesting, and I take the liberty to go slightly off-topic here. It’s the question of RedRocket wondering if this is an inner family grief. With it comes an unspoken question of whether this shouldn’t be handled elsewhere.

For me it should not. I’ve been aware of the whole situation and even of the intent to make this public. For me it’s a low-risk showcase of how it’s fine to be different and discuss that. If my members can’t discuss this, how can we discuss other, more relevant matters? I’m pretty bored by the abstract life we live of taking the moral high ground and how we pretend our lives are smooth as fuck. In reality many of us don’t agree with leaders. Many leaders don’t necessarily agree with each others approach. Made Man might think certain Gangsters are idiots, while another Capo thinks highly of that same Gangster. While we are now rebuilding a country, conflict is at the core of this community. If we dare to take some conflict out in the open, that can help us get one step further removed from back-room handling and walking past the armory wondering about which solution we prefer.

Public conflict allows for public solutions and that may inspire others. Conflict isn’t dirty, but overcoming it is a challenge. In the history of this community thousands of our ancestors died because of the inability of a few to solve their conflicts. Again, the streets are opportunity to remedy that.

Of course there is a time and place for each type of situation, but if in the basics we wouldn’t assume it a problem if two actual people opposed each other, this world would both become more interesting and more peaceful.
