Make No Mistake Started by: Mistake on May 26, '18 11:30

Mistake and Slash were in Mistakes office, having a couple drinks. It had been a long, but good day for both of them. Plenty of money was made and spirits were running high. They had been laughing and joking all night, a few other friends had also dropped by for a bit. Most of them couldn't stay long, though. The two joked around, insulting each other.

"Fucking hell Slash, I've had to look at your ugly face for about 5 hours now. When are you going home?"

Slash took a drink from his glass, barely managing to find his mouth.

"I'll go home when you fuck off back to London!"

Mistakes attitude changed in an instant, just the mention of that place put him on edge. He sat there, just staring straight ahead. Grinding his jaw a little as a slow stream of cigar smoke escaped his mouth. The hurt and rage was visible on his face, however he didn't say a word.

"It was just a joke you wimp, come on.... Don't take it seriously!"

Mistake smiled a little, chugging the rest of his drink.

"Those pricks forced me out of my own home, after everything I done for them. That is how they repay me? Walked all over me like a fucking door mat... And I done nothing about it."

"Mistake, you need to fucking relax. It was a joke, fuck is wrong with you? Things are better now, why are you still caught up on that?"

"Alright, alright. You're right. I'll drop it. On a serious note, though... It really is getting late. I need to get some sleep, got an early one tomorrow."

"Yeah, I should probably head off too. The missus is already pissed at me. Just forget about that London shit, alright? We got it good here."

Mistake walks with Slash outside, he calls over one of his mechanics and asks him to give Slash a lift home. He heads back into his office and sits down, slouched in his chair. Memories of London streaming through his head, from the good times... Right up until the day he was forced to leave. He knew, that no matter how much he tried, he could never just let what happened back home slide. How could he call himself a man of honor if he let them get away with what they done. He got up and went to find Jack, who was still working on one of the cars.

"Jack, I need you to book me a flight to London. Earliest flight they have."

He walked away before Jack could respond, heading back to his office.

The next morning, Mistake went and picked up the ticket from Jack. Mistake looked on edge and tired, it was clear he didn't get much sleep. The only luggage he had was a small carry-on bag. Jack gave him a ride to the airport, during the drive he kept trying to make small talk with Mistake. Each attempt was just met with a blunt one word answer. They arrived at the airport, Mistake got out of the car and turned to Jack.

"Watch the business for me for a few days, if there are any problems... Call up Slash."

The flight went smooth, it felt weird for him... Going back to this place. He remembered when he used to love flying back to London after business trips, it wasn't the same anymore. After the flight landed, he got a taxi to Hackney and booked into a local hotel. Whilst in his room, he opened his bag and pulled out a note. There were two names written on it, followed by their address.

"No time to waste." He muttered to himself, before putting the note in his pocket and heading out the door.

Mistake jumped on a bus and headed to the first address. He managed to sneak into the back garden from around the side of the house. Knowing that his target wouldn't be home at this time. Grabbing a shovel from the shed, he used it to pry the window open. He entered the window and quietly checked the house, making sure every room was clear. Searching the upstairs bedroom, he found the mans gun, he grabbed it and made sure it was loaded before putting it on his waist.

He went and sat on the couch in the living room, just waiting, patiently. Roughly 2 hours had passed, Mistake remained completely calm and focused, just replaying the scene of what is about to happen over and over in his head. Imagining every scenario possible. Eventually, the time came. Mistake heard the man walking towards the house, his keys jingling. The scratching noise of the keys as he tried to fit them in the lock, little did he know what he was about to walk into. The man walked into the house, holding a grocery bag. As he reached the living room and saw Mistake sitting there, he froze up, dropping the bag. Mistake pulled out the gun and pointed it at him.

"Remember me, Dennis?"

"N-no.. Please.. Mista.." There was a loud BANG followed by a more subtle thud as Dennis's body hit the floor. Blood leaking from his head.

Mistake got up and stood over the body briefly, shaking with adrenaline. He felt amazing, as if a massive weight had just been lifted off his shoulders. Moving the body with his leg, it was clear Dennis was lifeless. Putting the gun away, he left the house calmly, as if nothing had happened.

After leaving the house, Mistake waited at a bus stop. He pulled out a pen from his jacket pocket and got the note out. He put 3 crisp lines through Dennis's name. Jumping on the bus, he headed to the next address. Unfortunately, things had taken longer than expected, he was worried that the next target may be home already.

The bus journey felt like an eternity, with the adrenaline still pumping he just wanted to get the job done. Eventually, he reached his stop. Upon closer inspection of the house, it seemed like someone was definitely in. Mistake was sick and tired of sneaking around and climbing through windows anyway, this time he kept things nice and simple.

He approached the door and knocked loudly three times, before stepping to the side, hugging the wall. This ensured he wouldn't be seen, after a brief delay the door opened and Mistake quickly raised his gun and pointed it at the mans head.

"Good to see you Victor, lets go inside to talk."

Victor stuttered and mumbled whilst walking slowly backward. Mistake closed the door behind them.

"Mistake, it was all just a big understanding. I tried to help you, I swear! That fuck Dennis caused all of this."

Mistake smirked then hit Victor on the side of his face with the bottom of his gun. Blood started to pour from his eyebrow.

"Don't worry about Dennis, I paid him a visit too. Do you know how much I trusted you? After every-fucking-thing I done for you... It turned out you were just sniveling fucking cowards. It really is a shame it had to come to this, you only have yourself to blame."

"Mistake, we can work something out. It really doesn't have to be this way. What do you want? Money? Drugs? Don't do this mate, please."

"Facts are threatening to those invested in fraud."

Mistake raised his gun and places it on Victors head. Looking straight into his eyes.

"N-no! FUCK YOU!"

Mistake pulled the trigger, parts of Victors skull scattered across the floor. He then headed to the kitchen to clean his hands before stepping over the body and leaving.

Mistake made his way back to the hotel room, a big smile on his face all the way. Being extra polite and smiling at random people that passed by him. It felt like the weight of the world had been lifted off his shoulders. He proceeded to grab his belonging and head to the airport, just in time to catch his to Las Vegas.

He slept for most of the flight, waking up when he was close to Las Vegas. That is when the feeling hit him, that same feeling he used to get when returning to London. This was his new home now, this is where he was happy, this really was the new start he had been hoping for. Once he left the airport, he spotted Jack waiting to pick him up. Just before getting into the car, he lit up a cigar and stared at the beautiful blue sky.

"What a city, ey Jack?" He said with a smile on his face.

"Its good to have you back, everything at the business is still on track."

"Thanks for taking care of that for me. Can you drop me to the bar downtown? I'll call up Slash for a few drinks."

Mistake calls Slash and they meet at the bar, Jack joins them for a few drinks too. Mistake fills them both in on exactly what happened, from the reason he went back, to what he done when he was there. Jack seemed shocked and a bit sick, however Slash was loving every second of it... Constantly asking for more details in regards to the violent parts. A good few drinks later, Mistake felt on top of the world. Finally ready to move forward and let go of the past. He raised his glass for a toast.

"There are good ships, there are wood ships, there are ships that sail the sea. But the best ships, are friendships, and may they always be."
