With a small sigh to himself as he walked down the streets of Chicago, Oliver McTavish approached a small crowd of Mafiosi surrounding a newspaper stand selling the latest edition of the underground newspaper ‘The Mafia Tribune’. “Mind if I borrow your attention for a moment?” he asked with a winning smile, waving his hand for the patrons to follow him. For another block he waved at individuals to join along with the throng of people following him to a destination unknown. After ten minutes that seemed to be an eternity, the man finally stopped in front of the old Chicago Union station, hopping up onto the elevated steps and whistling to get the attention of the confused gathering. Right. Thank you all for your time. I’d like to make an announcement, and yes, it will be long winded. Bear with me, if you do not mind… I have, in my time here in this world, had the fortune of meeting a bunch of amazing Mafiosi. If asked to, I could rattle all of their names off without hesitation. There are many, though, that stand out in my mind much more than others. One of these individuals has for the longest time worked beside me; he has given his loyalty, given his all for myself and my family. His hard work has not gone unnoticed, and for that I am here to reward him today. This individual will soon be setting up alongside me in Chicago, not as a continuation of my own corporation, but rather he is being given his own chance to start his own venture, his own chance to shine. There are many, many things I could say about this man. Oliver pauses to smile and chuckle a bit before continuing. Though it make take ages to recount everything this man is capable of, I will do my best to give him the proper ‘goodbye’ as I have all his Badass Inc. brethren before him. He is a man who has a very honest sense of who he is, and a sense of how this world should be. Honor, loyalty- he has those admirable traits in plenty of supply… Oliver pauses again and shakes his head. This seems too bland, my apologies. Let me try to better express to you what I am trying to say. The man you will see shortly purchase his own headquarters in the Windy City is one that I have come to think of as a son. There has never been and never will be again in my life an individual who will rival his selflessness, his dedication to our world and his sense of purpose. He is a man who was truly born suited for ‘this thing of ours’, and one I know will be an amazing representative of my- rather, our fine city. Now I don’t want to bore you, so let me get to the part you have all been waiting for. Today I would like to congratulate JohnnyAxe, and welcome him with open arms to the esteemed rank of Crime Syndicate Head. Johnny, I need not wish you luck, for you have already far surpassed all my expectations out of you. I know that you will continue to make myself and every Mafioso you come into contact with proud. Best wishes to you and your new family. I have every faith that you will bring to Chicago that zest for life it so desperately needs. |

My father always admired you as a man of integrity, honesty, and great intelligence. Working underneath you in Badass, Inc., I came to see that he was dead on. You deserve this chance, and you will do great with it. Best of luck, sir. |

Your RHM, in your city, despite there being an open city at the moment... and you really want us to believe he is more than just an extension of your crew? Please stop treating people like they are stupid, generally they aren't. Don't get me wrong, I actually quite like Johnny despite his role in all I dislike about Oliver's reign (whole other conversation). He is deserving of the opportunity to run his own crew, and if he truly were running his own crew, that would be wonderful. Don't worry, you can use the "you're just a civi, shut up" retort, or maybe the "rank up and do something about it" line, that's not been pulled out in days now. Or perhaps you can take on board what I'm saying and learn a little from it. Those with something to lose aren't going to say it, but please don't think that I'm the only one thinking it. |

MacGyver walks up and reads the wooden framed plaque displaying the congratulatory phrases for Johnny. As he reaches out to touch the nice raised print on the paper the plaque looses hold on one side and falls. MacGyver pulls out his trusty swiss army knife and tightens the screws, holding the plaque, and ensures it is sturdy. MacGyver not seeing Johnny at the moment thinks to himself that this is a well deserved promotion. MacGyver turns and walks away as the lunch hour is hitting its peak and the streets are beginning to get crowded. |

Oliver, thank you for the introduction. In fact, thank you all for the congratulatory remarks. NSPCC, I think you (and all others that share your opinion) will soon realize that I am indeed running an independent organization. In our manner of business, I would expect more people to share your sense of skepticism; perhaps there are those that are afraid to speak those thoughts. Still, all I can say for now is that you will see. I look forward to proving you wrong. |

You carry a sign that says "Badass Inc, Always" You (presumably) had the option to set up either in the same city as Oliver, or strike out on your own to LA... yet there you are. Should Oliver be attacked tomorrow, I am 99.999999999999999999% certain you'd back her up. There doesn't seem to be much to distinguish you from him at this time. I hope you do prove me wrong, just don't see it happening. |
