Delaware Started by: TheGingerbreadMan on Jun 06, '18 22:11

The Gingerbread Man had been walking around for a little while now. Walking through the piles of bodies left by the last few days of Durden massacres. He had shuffled through some of their pockets, trying to take a trinket of some sort, but had little luck. Usually people kept some sort of valuables of them or something of personal unique value. The Durdens all had two things in common. A gun tucked into their waistbands and a driver's license. The Gingerbread Man had gotten fairly curious at one point, possibly out of boredom or desperation to find something of value and started to collect their driver's licenses. 'Eh who knows, they might be good for making fake IDs,' he thought to himself.

After swiping dozens of driver's licenses he noticed they had begun to look extremely alike. In certain batches of Durden bodies the last name would be the same. All of the licenses were issued in the state of Delaware. Thus, The Gingerbread Man decided to take a little trip across the country, to a little town called Delaware City.

Once his plane touched down in Delaware City, he immediately noticed everyone gave him a blank stare. Nobody would respond to any question he asked. There was an overwhelming sense of hostility tangible in the air. Everybody seemed like the shell of a person. He was definitely creeped out, and decided to put some investigative work in before leaving town. He snooped in on a few establishments and pulled a surveillance detail on a few select sketchy looking people. After a while, he had tracked down one of the Durden officers, and started following him before getting an opportunity.

The Gingerbread Man pulled the guy into an alley and brought out his knife. "Who do you work for?"

The man spit at him and said: "I don't talk to you scum."

The Gingerbread Man was a little put off by the comment, but continued: "Why are there so many of you a-holes?"

The man grinned viciously when he said: "You've come straight into our land. What do you think? Delaware's not big enough for us anymore."

It quickly dawned on The Gingerbread Man, everyone he had passed in the airport, in the street, in the shopping malls, residential complexes, restaurants: they were all Durdens.

The Gingerbread Man quickly caught the next flight out, he did not want to be in enemy territory for long. Now, whenever he meets anybody that asks him about Delaware, he says one sentence: "Delaware is shady"
