The Start of The End Started by: Solum on Jun 07, '18 17:58

There was a loud creak as her door shut, stepping over to her desk she would relax looking down at her papers. Thunder and lightning flickering and lighting up the sky outside her window she would turn to look watching as her window had rain drops trailing down. She turned back to her desk signing reports and tapping her pen against the wooden surface. Without paying attention to her eyelids becoming heavy, she closed her eyes. Solum would always enter the office to see her mother asleep at the desk. Waking her up to have her come along and rest elsewhere. Come morning it would all be different.

She was small... the wearing a peach dress when she was younger, her mother loved making her look sweet. She liked causing trouble, fighting with the neighbor hood boys. She was always watched, walking with her mother who was known but quiet and sweet. She was always dropped off at a friends place as she went to work.

Hours passed, normally drinking tea and eating sweets as she was watched all through the years. Staying away from trouble, she studied and worked for what she wanted. Picked up one night she went home talking about the day. Her mother refused to speak about it, but rarely did she hear about the deceased.

There was a day she was woken up to the door opening. Getting up she saw her mother there, "Where are you going?" Solum looked at her getting up from her bed. She moved closer to her mother.

"Go back to sleep, I will be back as soon as I can. Do not let anyone inside." Her mother spoke in a stern tone.

Solum not wanting to let her leave so easily stepped in front. "Whats going on?" Solum asked again as her mothers body guards stood at the door and waited for her mother to come along.

Suddenly she was hugged by her mother with a kiss on the forehead she smiled. "I promise I will be back. Just stay home.... and do not let anyone inside." She backed up as a guard stayed behind to keep Solum company.  Solum sat at the door as her mother and her guards left the area. Backing up.. locking the door she went to her room sitting down as the one who stayed back stood at her bedroom door back to her.

Three days later she had gotten a paper from the guard with a story of a war that started the day her mother left her alone. She shook her head in disbelief and threw the paper into the fire. Through the day, rain had started, picking up as she waited for her mother to come home. She was worried but believed her mother would return as promised.

The evening dragged on, she refused to move from the main room which had a clear view of the front door, drifting off on the sofa. Knocking throughout the day she they did not bother to open the door as the request from her mother. A envelope slid under the door, the guard came over to Solum and spoke in a gruff voice. "Solum, there is a letter here for you." He had little bit of a frown as if he had known what it could contain.

Solum sat up taking the letter and opening it. Pulling out the letter she lost all expression. She took a deep breath calming down as she read it over:

To the kin of the fallen,

We send our sincere apology to the kin of those who have fell to the recent events. We hope that you have a life of peace.

Figuring that many had passed she dropped the paper to the floor heading straight to her room. Shutting the door she would sit there till morning. Thinking of the past, those cherished memories she had.

Her mothers guard which had become her own took her to the funeral. She wore all black looking at her mothers soft features. Her white hair tied up and roses surrounded her. Old friends and family she had not met before. and those who she had met once or twice she looked down, placing the bundle of roses with the others and let a silent prayer for her mothers soul. Her closest guard put his hand on her shoulder and spoke. "We hope to see you do good with what your mother had left behind." Solum could only nod her head in agreement as she stood watching as members of the funeral gather had started to disperse, seeing one man, Karnage, standing out. She did not call out afraid she would be wrong in asking how he knew her mother or anything along the lines. As only a few members stood gathered she turned preparing to leave back to where she lived.

The times had changed and he knew it. The Carnage that was once a beautiful city needed to be rebuilt. Karnage stepped up in the time of need and started his own family. He still had to go to Castelli's funeral. Castelli was Karnages boss and was constantly sending him on errands abroad. Karnage had just recently returned home from a trip to NY only to find a note on his desk and a set of keys. Castelli was nowhere to be found. It took about 15 minutes for him to soak it all in.

He was finally pulled back out of his deep thought by a nudge from Ferdinand, one of his most trusted bodyguards who pointed at the woman eyeballing him.

"She has been looking at you for quite some time now. shall i go deal with her?"

"Nah, she is the deceased daughter. Kleknot kept her hidden for the most part but we know of her," he replied to Ferdinand.

As the funeral drew to a close, Karnage paid his last respects and pulled out a letter that Klejknot had given him for a time like this. It almost seemed as if Klejknot had predicted her own death and knew he would take care of her daughter.

"Actually Ferdinand, I want you to give her this letter and make sure she is in my office tonight."

Ferdinand nodded, taking the letter he walked over to Solum to deliver the letter and the message. Karnage had disappeared back to his office. He had phone calls to make and telegrams to send abroad. The road ahead was not going to be easy but he knew he could handle the challenge.

Solum looked at the bodyguard who delivered a letter to her. with a small nod she thanked the man before walking beside the guard she came with. But with the ride home from the funeral she opened the letter that @Karnages bodyguard had given to her. She looked at the guard who was driving and then back to the paper.

Making it home she fixed herself some tea and got changed into something a little more presentable. A dark blue dress and a pair of short heels at least to make herself a little more presentable when coming face to face with a crew leader. She looked at the guard and gave a nod. "Time to head to the WolfPack HQ."

That evening she appeared at the HQ. Standing at the entrance she knocked on the door, guard next to her for safety. She waited... for what seemed a few minutes before someone opened the door. "I recieved a message from your leader to come here? I wish to request a audience with him." She spoke calm and quietly.

Karnage was sitting at his desk getting caught up on paperwork. He had been procrastinating it for some time but couldn't any longer. Ferdinand and a couple of his other guards escorted Solum into his office. He looked up and saw her standing there with the guards next to her. He gestured for her to take a seat and nodded at his guards.

"Leave us. close the door behind you"

The guards left the office and as soon as the door was closed he began talking with solum.

"I assume that you know why you are here so I will cut straight to the point."

Karnage lifted a cigar out of the box on the left corner of his desk and lit it. After lighting it, He took a couple of glasses and poured some whiskey into both glasses and slid one of them over to her.

" Your mother left that note in my possession, should anything happen to her. I dont know exactly why she did it but I feel that I would be doing her memory a disservice if i didn't honor her wishes, well in part anyway. Your mother didn't want this life for you, which is why i assume she kept it hidden from you for as long as she could. However, times being what they are, I think you can handle yourself very nicely. I wanted to honor your mother's memory by keeping you close."

Karnage paused for a moment and took a drag of his cigar and a sip of his whiskey.

"I wanted to personally offer you a chance to be with me here and serve in a very prestigious position on my right side. Second in command of this family if that is how you want to look at it. I took the liberty of having my servants prepare an office for you and from what i can tell it looks very nice. Should you accept this offer, ill have my people put your stuff in there and you can direct them as you wish. I think you will like it here."

He looked at her and awaited her response. looking into her eyes, he could see the wheels turning in her head.
