If you were unaware today, June 11, The repeal of net neutrality rules goes into effect.

By and large most people don’t see any changes to their Internet service today but there is no one watching to make sure that ISPs aren’t throttling your access to certain websites.

That should really concern you if you stream your TV through services like Netflix and Hulu.  Your Internet provider is often times the owner of cable or satellite systems.  And they want you to be paying big bucks to be watching their TV channels not getting it on the Internet.

By slowing down your Internet or selling your packages that offer better speed and access to streaming services, your provider can make certain they are getting their previous large chunks of cash that they use to get through cable packages.

And a larger concern is the thought that companies can control and may choose to control what websites you can access at all.

So please consider getting involved in someway, perhaps by letting members of Congress who represent you know that net neutrality is critical and important to you and that you will show how you feel about their stance with your votes.

Is this just for this US or for the UK aswell?

i believe for the US only. but the decision here could impact other parts of the world. 

I'm really hoping for legislation that solves this issue permanently.

I mean, I'm not holding my breath... this is Congress, after all. But I am hoping.
