The Council of Guardians coming to Detroit Started by: Salvatore_Luciano on Jun 15, '18 07:34

Lucky sat in his office and awaited the arrival of Kris. Kris had been working with Chicago a long time and now that Lucky had moved to Detroit he thought it was high time the man got rewarded for all his hard work.

Lucky had purchased a secure and nice building for Kris to use as an office not far from his own office. He had installed all the fortifications a headquarters would or could need it would be the perfect place for Kris to set up a crew of his own.

He sat there and poured himself a drink while he waited for the jolly old man to arrive.

Kris arrived at Mr. Luciano's HQ as per his request. Getting off the car he wondered what this could be about. He had been serving good, he had been faithful. It couldn't be bad news. His mind wandered as he entered the building in his classic red and white outfit, always eager to be himself despite ridicule or mockery. He smiled and exchanged greetings with his fellow family as he made his way to Lucky's office at the top.

He arrived at the top steps and gave a knock on the door.

"Knock Knock Knock"

Clearing his throat as he waited. He knew better than to barge in..

"Come in Kris," he said loud enough for him to hear through the door.

Lucky stood up to shake the man's hand as he entered.

"Welcome Kris, I know you are a busy man and well after today will become even busier," he said with a smile.

"I have ordered you elves to move your stuff out of this HQ." he told him.

Kris entered and greeted Lucky with a firm handshake as he spoke. Listening as he mentioned his elves and his stuff. His face a little confused as he asked.

"Always have time for you sir, but.. may I ask why?"

Maybe it was all the running around trying to deal with his ex wife who was still on the loose, or maybe it was something else but Kris was distracted lately. His hand returning to his side as he spoke again.

"I'm moving? But we just got here to Detroit.."

Lucky hands him a box wrapped in red and green wrapping paper.

"I never said you were leaving Detroit. Just moving" he said gesturing to the box.

Kris widens his eyes seeing the brightly colored wrapped box.

"You shouldn't have."

Santa never GOT presents so Kris got excited and grabbed the box and proceeded to quickly tear off the paper freeing the lid from the box. Pausing a moment as he glanced at Lucky before opening the box and looking inside.

Lucky watches as a set of keys on a candy cane key chain are uncovered in the box.

"I am promoting you Don and giving you your own Headquarters to work out. You have done well for Chicago and for me. And now that we are in Detroit I want to give you the opportunity to grow and lead your own crew." he says with a big smile.

Kris's eyes light up as he snatches the keys and drops the box. Chuckling at the candy cane addition and nodding with approval.

"Seriously? Wow.. I mean.. Thanks!"

Kris tried to contain his excitement as he gripped the keys to his new HQ. Never having expected this. His mind thinking about this could help further his mission to save Christmas and maybe his world.

"This is.. I mean.."

He cleared his throat and stood up straight.

"I'll do my best to not let you down, sir."

Kris said firmly as he reached out for another handshake. Jingling the keys in his other hand happily. His mind racing with ideas and plans for his future.

Lucky shacked the man's hand again. He was glad to see him excited

"I am also giving you Vincent to help you over there. He has done fantastic for me and I know he will do great things for you as well," he tells Kris.

Lucky knew from experience that having good hands can make all the difference.

Kris nodded listening to Lucky speak and how Vincent was coming to join him. He knew Vincent would be a great help in getting things running.

"Thank you Don Luciano, I'll make you proud!"

He said happily eager to get to his new HQ and check it out and make the preparations for his new family.

Awaiting in his 1932 Buick Series 60, Vincent finishes his cigar, so he could meet with some of the guys to celebrate this new era.

Detroit was full of small gangs battling among themselfs  ruining  Christmas, and all the sadness they spread needed to stop.

They werent expecting some Cosa Nostra group to come and put an end all this madness and restoring the most antecipated celebration of the year... Santa would make things better, and Vincent knew his reputation would help in the way...

"Lets do this"

Somny was happy and proud too see this thing go down. Proud of Detroit now being rebuildt under Sal and allready expanding. Kris was a man Somny was happy to see rise to become one of the brass. Especially since Kris had helped him a short while ago making his car dealership an even smoother and more efficient business.

But must of all he was proud for Vince who you take rigth hand with Kris. Vince had welcomed him and been a good friend when he joined Sal for what now seemed a million years ago.

But he would miss directing ocs and making Vince crazy racking up the truck heisst art thefts and whatnot. Oh well it was a sweet parting atleast with Vince and Kris moving on to new glory.

Salute!

Somny raised his glass.

Later that night, after everyone had said their congratulations to Kris and celebrated, he will find a small box on the table beside his bed.  Another gift.  It's wrapped in red paper and tied with a golden bow.  The exterior has a card that reads:

Dear Santa,

I have to admit that when we first met I was sure that you were just some sorry old man who had lost his damn mind.  I want to apologize to you for all the snickers I thought you could not see behind your back.  I realize now that life planted a cynical seed in my heart and blinded me to the truth that your crew will, no doubt, fight hard to bring back to our sorry world.  Now that I know who you really are, I felt it necessary to give you this.

The gift I've left you was the last on that I actually believed came from you and since I know nothing brings you more joy than giving it... I only ask that you please pass it along to another little girl.  In these days of the Great Depression - so many little girls go without and little Vera shouldn't be without a girl to love her any longer.

Congratulations Don St. Nicholas.  May your reign be long.  May your coffers never be empty and your enemies know no peace.

-Bella

Inside the box, as she said, was a well loved doll with dark hair and eyes, a doll she named Vera on the last Christmas Isabella believed in Santa Claus.  It was now up to Kris to find a way to give the doll purpose again.
