A few hours had passed since his first taste of blood.. his first contract killing; a good for nothing durden none the less.. He seems to think the only way to keep his mind off the whole ordeal was to continue on with life like nothing had changed.. so he did. Thomas was out for coffee at his local down town Detroit diner when he noticed an old man leaning back and forth, back and forth, slightly glancing at Thomas has he did. He held small book in his hand, it looked to be a bible. The waiter soon approaches the table and asks Thomas for his order; he falls into a few seconds of silence then orders a cup of coffee to wake him up from the day dream he finds himself in. After the waiter had taken the order Thomas then glances over at the old man once more and to his amaze the old man has his eyes glued on Thomas as if waiting for an answer to a question that has not been asked. His obsessive need of leaning back and forth and the prolonged eye contact caused Thomas to stand up and head over to his table.. "May I aid you with something Sir?" asked Thomas trying to offer the old man some help before he falls into a deep endless sleep, he had been waiting for something to get his mind off of the malicious dealings of earlier. "no, me? no, why would i need help? me? no" the old man appeared to be in a state of shock as if something drastic had happened to him in the past, the back and forth motion seemed to exhilarate and Thomas begun to think he was very, very unwell. Trying to comfort him Thomas then pulls out a cigar and hands it to the old man. " Wh.. why thank you young man!" Seemingly pleased with the gesture, the old man begins to stop shaking, he wipes minor sweat off his face and looks at Thomas once more. "What do you know, of the perfect crime?" the old man suddenly asked after taking his first few puffs of the cigar.. |

"I am talking about the murder of Kate's father! You've heard the story haven't you?" The old man asked "No.. I don't recall hearing such a story" Thomas replied Confused as to what he was hearing Thomas beckoned the man to continue with this mysterious story.. Thoroughly enjoying his cigar at this point the old man then places a piece of paper on the table and looks at Thomas once more "The day he died.." the old man said in a shallow voice "The day who died?" Thomas interrupted "If you let me flippin' continue then you'll know boy" snapped the old man "You see, the day Kate's father died, the perfect murder was created. There was a note book found under his bed Indicating that he was devising a way to murder his daughter without being caught, but he knew from day dot that it was going to be difficult. The father knew that what ever he does and what ever lie he would create, with a little patience, the truth would soon be discovered and he would take the fall.. he just wasn't cut out for such things at all" The old man then takes another few puffs of his cigar and continues "You see, he wrote in the notebook ten different ways to murder his daughter; well making it look like a complete accident but all of them seemed to come to the same ultimatum .. He believed what ever he did, no matter how precise he was, he could not pull off this perfect murder. He needed the crime to show as if it was an accident, there are only so many explanations for a death; Murder, Self explicable , natural.." Thomas then leans back and interrupts the man once more "A car accident would have been the best bet for him right? cut the brake lines, do what you need to do for whatever reason that may be.. It's not your fault, move on." Thomas couldn't understand why the so called Father wanted to murder his daughter, but he was very much interested to hear the rest of the story "You're telling the story now?" the old man snapped once more "Shall I continue?" "Now by killing his daughter he would prevent her from running off into the sunset with this poor schlub of a man he hadn't approved of. He seemed to have her in a sort of trance and he felt any minute now she would have up and left without saying a single word.. His only flesh a blood, running off with a farmers boy. He believed that by committing the said crime he would be setting her soul free and for that he would have no guilt.. that he would commit this perfect crime and not feel guilty one bit.. But nothing ever works out quite like you hope.." "Does it?" |
