Twilight ricocheted off the bright neon that illuminated the back room of the club, highlighting the intense fury on Saturn’s face, and the unfiltered glare that bore straight into the man across from her. She had just wanted to come out to the club and forget the stresses of her current job, maybe get really fucking drunk and forget about whatever hell was in store for her tomorrow-but no. Some masculine asshole commented on her appearance, calling her a filthy gadabout and exclaiming that nobody here would want to do her, therefore he himself would take her home and do the honours. It was no wonder he found himself staring at the hidden blade that Saturn had integrated into her ink quill, a heirloom she carried everything. It was a sudden movement, and if Saturn had to she’d have no issue slicing the skin off his face and making life insanely painful for him. Her breathing was heavy, and the man looked utterly confused for a mere few moments before a booming laugh riled from his throat. Saturn’s eyebrow twitched in utter annoyance, surely he didn’t get the threat the quill possessed? “You don’t scare me, ginger-snap. Put the lil’ thing away and maybe you’ll get to see som-“ “50 bucks.” Saturn’s voice raised, and she took a step away from him, holding her quill to her chest with a no-nonsense expression. He seemed confused, however a smirk raised upon his features. For a moment, the club was utterly silent. Mocking voices erupted around the club and Saturn fought to keep her farce. “You reckon you’re worth th-“ “50 bucks, a little game of blackjack. If I win, I can cut that scha-fling of a smirk off your face. And... If you win, well, you can have your way, mate. Who can resist a lil' game, whaddya say?” The mocking voices died down, and Saturn watched as she man’s face broke into a crooked, victorious smile, all before the game could commence. Saturn let out a huff, orchestrating her impatience, and pushed her hand out for a shake. The man glanced at her hand, her chest, then gave the scummiest smile a man could deliver. Saturn was beyond disgusted as his clammy hand wrapped around her own and shook for far too long. She just wanted this to be done with so she can get pissed and collapse at home on the couch in a pitiful mess. “Deal.” Hollers spread around the club and Saturn was guided to a chair, where she crossed one foot delicately over the other, adjusted her round glasses and listened as people began betting in the background, most for the man of the hour. Some bets were… not about the game- but that didn’t quake Saturn and her outlook on things. No man should get away with being such a pig- hell, he didn't even know who he was dealing with. She had a trick up her sleeve. As the man took his place across from her and cards were dealed Saturn took one glance at her cards and a corner of her lip tilted up. Let the blackjack begin. |
