Salvatore had it all. He had a loving wife who was sexy as fuck, a devoted daughter who had taken bullets for him twice now and would soon be coming into her own in the family business, and a new baby on the way to carry on his bloodline into the future. Business wasn't bad either. He had money coming out his ears and now, after the recent war, places to expand his interests and operations; but most of all, he had people he could trust: friends, allies, and family. The Velvet Room was a hole in the wall speakeasy on the backside of a cat house in Detroit's Red Light district. It wasn't a place for Dames but some rough ones did make their way down their on occasion. Mostly, however, it was a place where men could be men. Enjoy a cigar and some brandy together... and bounce gal on your knee without catching flack from your best moll. Lucky invited some of his best friends in this thing to which they all belonged, to join him today. It was time to celebrate another day alive and the future that looked bright ahead of them. He was three glasses into his bender when the man of the hour finally arrived. "Vincent!" He called out brightly, and the din in the room quieted some, because when the Don speaks - everyone shuts the fuck up. Lucky opened his arms to embrace and kiss his trusted Consigliere. "Look at you! This suit is fantastic. You have to get me into your tailor, damn! Someone get this bastard a drink. Sit, sit... by me." He pushed out a chair for his friend and waited for him to sit. "You've been with me a while now, right Vincent?" He took up the crystal decanter and poured a glass for himself and Vincent. "Through wars, moves, new crews... all of it. Good and bad. You've been at mine and Godmother Marie's side and we've been fucking fortunate to have you. You keep my coffers full and the whole damn thing running like a real smooth machine." Lucky took a drink and then said, "I'm gonna be sorry to see you leave me again." He could see the confusion on Vincent's face but the resolve to do as his Don asked of him. "I need someone I can trust out in LA, someone who I know follows the old ways - who won't let shit happen that I don't approve of. I don't have a lot of guys like that Vincent, so I asked you here today to let you know I've decided that I'm going to sacrifice one of my best.... to ensure I have the best out in LA." He put aside his glass. "I'm sending you out there. I want you to run your operation, under my advisement and with my assistance ... but it would be your own thing. You've more than proven you're capable of it and played second fiddle to others long enough. It's time we let you have some leg room to build something of your own. What do you say?" |

Vincent and Salvatore knew each other back from the day. But was after the "big one" that the real bond started, as Salvatore pushed the sicilian blood gangster next to him, as he knew how top earner he was and the discipline of the cosa nostra book was handed down, no matter what, to the army that was spread all over now. La was to be next, the movie industry was a "license to steal" place, kind like Las Vegas. Vincent had the contacts, the strength and people around him that understood the business. Now was the time to do it.
"Dont know what to say Don Luciano, been quite a ride all this years, but last months proved Cosa Nostra taking it over"
Vincent now relaxes, opens up a button on the coat has he makes more confortable on the chair now, speaks in lower voice, and approaches the Don ear, how usually the most trusted man do it without much people listening
"Sal, this is it. Let me get some of the people I need there with me. And LA small gangs, movie stars and studio directores we ll all be in my pocket"
Vincent sits back and signals a fat scary man closer to the door for a beer, his favorite booze |

Sal listens closely to his friend speak of his plans. "That is good to hear and I look forward to watching you run LA and do it well. I am here to help you in any way I can." Sal says pulling a set of keys out of his pocket. "I have bought you a place where you can set up and get things going. I know you will do well." "Now let us drink and celebrate this day. Congratulations my friend you have earned this" he says holding up his drink. |
