I expect no crew leader takes his or her post with the intention of making shitty decisions, pissing people off and ultimately inviting their own death. From their peers, that is. By this, I mean crew leaders voicing insulting or wildly unpopular opinions, which directly impact the community of crew leaders. I would only expect to see those young or inexperienced to the role make these kinds of errors. I would however consider that someone placed in such a position to be correctly prepared by the one who authorised them have a crew in the first place. Rude, disrespectful and obnoxious individuals will not last long in a leadership role. Failing to prepare is preparing to fail. Anyway, I digress. So, crew leaders aside, we are left with the other side of the coin - the members. One driver to concern any operation is the potential of rogue warriors. The threat that could lurk in the ranks of any crew. You could be a charismatic, diplomatic and respected city head, however you're still not safe from the snake which could be swelling within your own ranks. One, two, an entire cell of disgruntled kin seeking vengeance and just need a quiet place to hone their skills. Often when this happens, the entire infected crew is dropped with a eulogy made that advises that the leader, or majority of deaths, were not necessarily the intended target. Collateral damage to remove the real threat. Now I'm not here to discuss with you what happens when these interceding steps are taken, or when the swelling ugly mass of rogues explodes and starts dropping Don's. I'd like to explore how you would expect these situations to be identified and resolved before they can boil over. Do you approach another crew leader and politely request they shoot their members square in the face? Do you request further information on the individuals in question? Approaching another crew leader with your concerns is a risky business in itself. It immediately opens the door to tension and paranoia. Nobody likes to have the motives of their members questioned, especially if they happen to hold a soft spot for the accused. Another way is to address these concerns is as the crew leader in question, before others have to. I'm not in the business of disclosing my entire personal approach and methods when it comes to how I walk these streets, however I believe that there is a level of responsibility that comes with a leadership role. This includes proposing and offering support to those who need it. Sharing best practices and tips, as we as leaders do for our members. There are obvious ways to tarnish someone with the "suspicious" brush. Activity levels vs shot report vs earnings being one. But these are relatively effortless. Engagement is a big one for me. By offering opportunities to engage with the crew, we can soon identify those who might be pushing all the right buttons, however have no intention of opening themselves up to the crew on a more personal level. Why build bonds with someone you're ultimately going to turn your back on, or just outright stab? I'd be interested to know what others think about this, and if anyone would care to share their own ideas on how to approach it. |

I agree with you jack. There are a lot of them, and it sucks knowing there are, and not really much you can do about it until it's too late.
I think it's a problem, but there's really not any solution to it.. I think Shonuff was a prime example of this, not trying to hurt anybody, just trying to stop what was bound to happen, and get everything out on the table, and that's all you really can do.
Though it is against the rules, and I understand that aswell. Unfortunate problem we have here. |

After hearing the start of JackMezzo's speech, Leucrota tilted her/its head, as she/it was obviously thinking.. History has shown that once a rude, disrespectful and obnoxious individual is in charge, general moral may change. People may fear the regime and therefore the power of said individual may in fact even be greater than one of someone that is supposedly loved by all, respectful and attentive. She/it grinned as she had these thoughts, as for her/itself, she/it felt she/it preferred the respectful, personal leadership. Leucrota lifted the corner of her/its wide mouth when JackMezzo spoke of the potential hazard of rogue members, as she/it disagreed. The majestic animal felt that some of the potential Rogue warriors could be positively influenced by good leadership, making them change their initial plans, lose their saltiness and cooperate with their crew to fulfill ambitions in a more generally respected way.. And Leucrota also felt the opposite could be true. Poor leadership could ignite rogueing as well. If people feel ignored, feel they do not have the opportunity to grow or feel they are not trusted, chances of them rogueing increase. Leucrota looked puzzled now. Yet again perhaps said rude, disrespectful, obnoxious leaders would have identified and eliminated potential hazards before they could destabilize the community. |

Dusty had stood around listening. She could potentially listen to the hard ships it takes on a leader but as a member she wondered if perhaps there was yet another way. Takiing her time she approaches Jack when it seems quiet enough. "I wonder if yet there is another way. We talk of killing these rogues off but every reign has disgruntled and unhappy people. Some will rogue out and some will start to hoard and collect for a better life for a kin down the road. Both would probably not interact with their families much, if at all. How do you differentiate the two motives? Perhaps we should take a closer look at what they are disgruntled about. If there is room for change, why not change things? Just a thought anyways." Dusty gave a bit of a shrug. |

Tara and Gavin were walking the streets as Jack Mezzo began to speak. Stopping and listening, Tara stepped forward while Gavin simply rolled his eyes. "I think it's an interesting point, Jack. I think every leader has dealt with members who are, at worst, a potential threat and who are, at best, a hassle. I don't truly believe it's possible to approach another crew leader and politely request they shoot their members- particularly if the members in question have already made an impact in that crew and are either innocent or have plausible deniability. Many leaders would fight to defend their members unconditionally; others would most likely always act submissively and follow the request. Most, I think, would measure their response between these two extremes. But what you're correct about is that most leaders would take this as a threat. By "politely asking" to shoot a potential problem, the asker opens themselves up to an attack." Tara shifts her weight to her other foot as she changes topics. "As for requesting further information? Almost impossible to do, I'd say. In both these cases, actually, the crewleaders in question must have a strong bond of trust between them. Sometimes even questioning a leader about one of their members can cause that trust to erode. Ultimately, I agree with you that building bonds is the only solution here: bonds between each crewleader and their members, as well as the crewleaders themselves." "Regarding those who have the potential to rogue to cause change, I agree with Dusty's statement that it's better to try to bring these people into the conversation to be constructive, rather than potentially forcing them to solely act through violence." Gavin cleared his throat as he spoke up from the crowd. "Sometimes you just need to shoot people, though. You can try to talk 'em to death, but some people just want to kill." Tara glanced over to her brother, frustrated, but she eventually nodded before returning to the crowd. |
