DominicG grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Of course he was of Italian descent which meant his family knew someone a part of this way of life. Dominic’s Grandfather was good friends with a lot of what we call Mafioso’s. Dominic and his Grandfather were pretty close, not much was not known between them. When his grandfather had ultimately passed away from cancer, he sat his grandfather's funeral. Losts people showed up to pay his respects. His grandfather never took any pictures with these men so that nothing would be linked back to the G family.
Dominic looked up his handkerchief to see a bunch of well dressed Italian looking men coming in talking to his Father, Grandmother, Aunts, and Uncles. Realizing who they were the sat back in the chair and just watch them come through, knowing that they were from the Chicago families. He suddenly felt a squeeze on his shoulder, not knowing who it was he looked back at them.
“I am sorry for your loss kid. Your grandfather was a great man. I will truly miss his company.”
“You knew my grandfather?” He would ask.
“Yes I did. Names Dominic Lombino, I am from the LA families.” He extended his hand to great his.
DominicG took his hand and shook it proudly, “Wow I didn’t know he knew anyone out of Chicago.”
“Yes he was good man, some of his friends from Chicago were sent out by us and he would house some of us when we were in town.”
He was completely shocked at what he had heard.
Dominic Lombino handed the kid a wad of cash and smirked down at him. “I need a favor from you, please keep an eye on all those members there for me. This note has my number on it besure to call when you get a chance.”
“I can do that.”
A few weeks later…
DominicG had kept trying to reach Dominic Lombino but there was nothing going through. Finally a man knocked at his door with a letter.
Dear Dominic,
With that DominicG packed up his bags and made his way out to Philly. With the letter and a few hundreds in his pocket. |

Ralph sat by his table, dinner set before him, but nearly untouched. He had received word the day before that his nephew Dominic was dead, killed in the fighting on the west coast. The family in Chicago nearly all chose to stay out of the business, preferring to remain safe, but Dominic had been a lad after Ralph's own heart. If only he had brought the kid under his own wing.
"Damn. Damn, and hellfire. He should have been out here with me." The night was getting dark, and the knock at the door was a surprise. Standing, Ralph walked over and opened the door. A young man blew in out of the evening, with dark hair tousled from the weather, but still clearly a Lombino. Who was...ahh, of course. DominicG, Dom's uncle from the other side of the family, who had been named for the man.
"Shit kid, it's looking to blow hell's own storm out there, get in here. What the fuck brings you to..." Ralph pulled the door shut and then placed his heda into one hand. "He sent you to me didn't he, Dom did. He wanted you to work for him but got his silly ass killed before you could start. Well, come in and we'll talk, you and I." |

After Ralph had let him in, stepping in he shook himself a little bit as the storm practically freezing. Dominic took his fedora off and set it on the coat rack at the door a long with his coat. He looked all around the entrance to Mr. Lombino's home, he was in just awe of how stunning of a home it was. Thinking to himself damn he must have done well here in Philly. "Yes, your nephew sent me." Turning to face Mr. Lombino, handing him the note. "This arrived a day ago or so. I kept some of the cash he gave me and bought a train ticket here." DominicG was a polite kid taking off his shoes as well as he entered the home. "Thank you for letting me in Mr. Lombino." |

"god damn. He wanted to get you in." Ralph read the note a second time, then looked up from his chair at the young man in front of him. The lad was tall, well built with a sturdy face. The Lombino face, it had once been one of the best known faces around. Perhaps it was time that became so again. "Alright kid, sit down. You're giving me a crick in the neck looking up at you." As The lad sits, Ralph meets his eyes. "Look, it's a bitch around here. This town is busy as hell, and it's just getting busier. you want to make it in this life, you gotta put your head down, keep your feet moving, and do whatever you have to. But let me warn you. Eventually, you either get told to take a hike, or you get an offer you can't refuse. and once you accept that offer, there's only one way out." Ralph looked the boy in the face. Would he be willing to try, and would he have the touch that would allow him to survive in the cutthroat world he wanted into. |

Dominic could help but take it all in. Smirking at Mr Lombino as he talked about the work. Realizing he said to sit down he moved to the chair next to him and listening to him continue. "I know its gonna be hard, I grew with some of the folks out in Chicago, they like to tell a lot of stories. I would be very interested in working my ass off to prove me keep. I promise, Mr. Lombino I won't let you down." Dominic extended his hand to shake Ralphs. |
