Magua and His Errant Shot Started by: Roman on Oct 18, '10 19:48

Today has certainly been a peculiar one, whilst slaving away trying to put all my paperwork in order and into my safe, I narrowly avoided a bullet that came flying in through my office window. The perpetrator was Don Magua out of Los Angeles, I saw his plates as he fled from the scene. I believe they read "MGW4CR4ZY". Needless to say I was stunned, I had no actual dealings with Don Magua in quite some time, but here he was, trying to kill Old Roman one day removed from celebrating my one year anniversary.

There's really no way to tell why he did it, although rumors are circulating he was itching to get out of the life. It is sad to see it all transpire though, I didn't know him personally, but any loss that had the chain reaction his did is certainly something to do a double-take at. My dear friend RoRog was on the money when he talked about the actions of a crewleader directly impacting the people that work underneath them. As a result of Magua's actions, several of his people were killed. It's an ugly scene, but it's certainly to pay attention to when you are a new person searching for a family, and why it's important to ask questions about the family you are looking at joining.

Nevertheless, just a sad waste of life today, and one that could have been prevented with a simple retirement speech or bullet through the brain.

Jimmy overhears the Godfather speaking on his father's old crew.

Godfather Roman, the events that took place are a shame. A good man seemed to have snapped under the pressure of leading a family, or for an unknown reason. Personally, it is a bitch when someone, especially a CL, decides that this life is too much and does something stupid. Like you said, it had a direct impact on the people below him. My father was a casulty of stupidity. A simple retirement would have sufficed, but no. Upset as I am, personally I hold no grudge towards you because you are really the victim here. When searching for a new family you cant really tell what is going to happen in the future. We just take a chance and hope for the best. Victims of CL's that snap are also not at fault. If the scenario is told to them, I do believe that some of the people in a family could actually live without being killed because of their leader's actions. But whats done is done, and those that died will be missed.

I have one question to ask about this and the rogue situation as a whole. Isn't wiping out a whole crew exactly what breeds more of them? I mean surely there's going to be a few sons and daughters who didnt approve of your actions. so wasn't the killing of everyone just throwing fuel on the fire?

I just want to say i dont plan to ever get made im but a lowly bin dipper. I just think "we" as a whole tend to shoot ourselves in the foot and wonder why we get the same results repeatly.

Report Post Tip

Killing members of a CL that went off is a security reason. If someone is pissed they might decide to look for revenge.Killing them can cause the same effect but thats the chance people must take to ensure their own survival.

Report Post Tip

Im just thinking its easier to "monitor" someone if you know who they are. Death gives you the freedom of creating a new identity and snuggling up with you enemies. Ive been known to do that from time to time.

Report Post Tip

true. But in the end it is all up to the powerful leaders of our cities. Not much we can really say about that.

Report Post Tip

that it is my friend that it is. I love this thing of ours and the

excitement is what keeps me coming back.

Report Post Tip

Same here, love this shit haha

Once you've obtained the rank of Made Man in a family it means, or well should mean, you've shown so much loyalty to your family to be now accepted in their inner circle of trust. This means you live and die for your family by all means.
In this case Magua took a shot at Roman, the members with the rank Made Man and above are almost expected to back up their CL by any actions he does. Whilst an associate, Wise guy or below, isn't really within the family yet and thus seen as a lower threat.

Now, there's always the possibility that the next kin of one of those Made Man holds a grudge against someone, there have been underground crews and everything because of these grudges, but at the end of the day. Your next of kin is a lot less frightening than yourself who has had the time to build a gun, buy bodyguards and what not.

Thats how it works in this thing of ours...

Report Post Tip

As much as I kinda disagree with making every Made Man responsible for the stupidity we recently witnessed, I think examples need to be made.

If Magua knew he was condemning all the high ranking people from his crew, he might have not taken such an idiotic way out.

I agree with the meaning the Oath is *supposed* to have, but we also know that Mafia Returns has some peculiarities that make people feel like they are not losing much by losing their own life. Many people really feel they can life their life through their son's so they are willing to go balls to the wall and do crazy things they wouldn't normally do.

Then again, like I said, when other people fall because of the actions of one, maybe in the future people that are bored will take more honorable ways out of the business...

Report Post Tip

After listening to everyone speak McDermott clears his throat.

I agree with SyrupWaffle here and the fact is that Magua knew exactly what he was doing. He knew once he fired a shot at the Godfather of Chicago that all hell was going to rain down upon him and those who we saw as threats.

If anyone should be mad and looking for vengenance out of those that died they should be trying to find Maguas' son and send him swimming with the fishes just like his father. He was the sole reason they all died.

Report Post Tip

In fairness to people who disagree with the actions I've taken or perhaps that there might've been an easier way to go about letting some folks off the hook... I think my history with turning the other cheek has been well documented, as have been the unfortunate losses that have been incurred to my city as a result of the live and let live mantra.

I'd chosen a peaceful resolution every time leading up to this point when someone had acted aggressively to it, and more often than not it led to people from my own families being killed... Or dear friends such as Colin and Evangeline.

Report Post Tip

I would like to start this by Saying I was Magua LHM

I no time would I agree to a random shot such as this :/

Now with that said I would have agreed with it however if it was a dicission between the top three in any family.

Now with those two things said I would like to add this ... I do not agree with the killing of a whole family when something like this occurs (The single random shot)

However: If I would have been privy to the knowledge then yes, take out the whole family.

But as we grow in these our fine streets we all have more than one life to give, and now I give my life to my new crew and Family Boss.

Because this is the devil we all ride. The streets called "Mafia Returns"

Report Post Tip

I think some things deserve to be straightened out here. First Magua was not a rogue. He was a crew leader. Granted he chose to act on his own but that's his prerogative to do so. That makes this a war. In a war there is always collateral damage. Those who are full members are generally considered threats to carry out what the leader has started and tend to go out with the leader. There are occasions where someone will have relationships that make them valuable to another city and will be rescued the fate of their leader. This is a move that is certainly open for debate but the removal of button men from a downed leader generally is not.

The other is the idea that somehow knowledge by the hands should make a difference at all. Every leader uses their hands differently. For example, I'm very close to my hands and seek their opinions regularly to enter into my decision making. Some leaders only use their hands as enforcers for their policy. The one thing that is universally true is the buck stops at the leader and not the hands. So what the leader decides goes for everyone including the hands. Whatever anyone thinks about the decision Magua made it was his alone to make.

Report Post Tip

Pardon, with leadership comes responsibility.  Once you are a made member of this thing of ours, you are responsible for not only your own actions, but the actions of everyone in your family.  When you are in a position of authority, you are doubly responsible.  Magua had no possible hope of toppling Roman. No one is questioning that fact.  Part of being in a family is trusting that the person you work for is capable of handling your business.  They need to have the connections to keep you out of jail, and the power to keep you alive.

There is no such thing as a single random shot coming from a Crew Leader.  When a crew leader fires a shot, it is an act of war.  Who is to know who did or did not know of this wild attempt ahead of time.  I believe when you say that your father was not privy, however, at the end of the day I do not believe that it matters.  Leadership is a responsibility.  Roman had a responsibility to his family to remove any possibility of a threat.  Magua failed in his responsibility to his family.  Roman did not.

Report Post Tip

As intimidating as I appear, I would like to calm all Chicagoans by saying that I will, in fact, not take a shot at Roman. I know you were all on the edge of your seats anticipating my vengeance, but I've decided to let him off the hook this time.

Or, you know, I don't own a gun... and can't even snatch an old lady's purse. That might be a valid reason, too.

But you'll never know.

Report Post Tip

"However: If I would have been privy to the knowledge then yes, take out the whole family."

And what? He was supposed to ask you and Magua's RH whether they knew about the shot, and then believe the bullshit you'd 99% likely come out with? Or should he actually trust in the fact that as Left-Hand and Right-Hand to Magua that you would follow him everywhere, and go to your deaths with him? Along with all the Made Men and above in Magua's family you were bound by life, and with that, by death.

"Now with that said I would have agreed with it however if it was a dicission between the top three in any family."

So what you are saying is that if he'd told you he was taking the shot then you would've gone along with it? Then surely by your own words Roman was right to kill you, the RH and all the made men and above? Good. At least we can agree that Roman was right.

Report Post Tip

Sir you are not understanding the words that here written here.

I would have gone to war just like any other family member if it was planned properly

But since we did not know of it it is simpily a sad way to go.

I did not disagree with Roman ... as a matter of fact I mailed him personally on this matter and told him I had no hard feelings.

So don't get worked up when you do not know all the facts ... many people died and only a few are upset, I am not one of those.

Mandalore walks up to the conversation with his blaster rifle drawn and pointed in the air pulling the trigger. Loud blaster shots echo through the buildings. As the sun reflects off his armor.

"I say to all this bickering enough. It is pointless for right now we must recognize we are at a time of peace with each other. The failings of one crew leader shouldn't echo into his family but giving the situation look who has the power Roman. It was his decision to let the weak fall to their grave then so be it. A Mandalorian respect power and strength and Roman has it and it should be recognized. Those who would oppose this would feel his wrath. As we can tell most of us submitted to his actions. Roman is a true warrior he fights for what he believes in and I respect that. So should all of those who disagree for everyone else here is considered a warrior of some sort. An about this hole more Rogue pfft. Those who where weak usually stay weak and don't find the chance to thrive or the will to fight. I have fought in numbers of wars in my time but it wasn't here on this planet with you humans. But in the last couple months I have been here I have seen the willingness to fight in many and I say if it is a time of peace let the peace be there just as long as you can hold it. Wars damage the soul and many of the young haven't seen it just yet let them stay so innocent. What is done is done. Let it be the past is the past for a reason and present is a gift."

Mandalore spins his blaster at his side and back into its holster.
