WHAT THE F#$@ IS THIS?

Earlier tonight a large group of leaders on the site got to enjoy the musical parody styling of one of our own.  AND, as a result it was decided that someone (I drew short straw) should post a contest on the boards called "MR Idol"  ...this is the contest and as you can expect, to win, you're gonna have to write a parody of a popular song ... incorporating people, places and things from MafiaReturns... and SING IT on a youtube video that YES you have to share with the whole damn site.

Here's the important deets!

Anyone from a civilian to Godfathers!

WHO ARE THE JUDGES?

The community will judge the winners from all the entries via popular vote.

WHAT ARE THE FABULOUS PRIZES?

To be announced.

Rest assured we'll make it pretty awesome (we're happy to take your donations, please contact me with your generous gifts and let me know via pm that it's for the contest, since I'm defacto organizer of this insanity!)  

WHAT IF I DIE BEFORE THE VOTE IS DONE?

We'll be able to contact you by mobmailing your old account and we'll let you know how to claim your prizes.

WHAT'S A PARODY SONG?

A very popular creator of parody music is Weird Al Yankovic.  If you go to youtube and look him up, you'll see him singing many of the pop songs you know and love/hate from the 80s, 90s, and today!  Three decades of making earworm music even more awesome.

MUST MY FACE/BODY SHOW ON THE VIDEO?  I'M SHY!

Your real voice must, that's the only requirement.  The point is that we all sing terrible and I'm fairly confident Queen B or Freddy Mercury isn't playing MR... so rest assured we're probably all going to suck in that area.  The point is to laugh at each other and ourselves in the spirit of community and have a little fun!  So no, your face and body need not appear but we'd really love to see you!

THE SPIRIT OF FUN

It should go without saying but we'll put it in here... if you're going to sing something that has even a SMALL chance of coming off as hateful, mean, spiteful, or insensitive... please clear it with the person you're singing about.  We don't want anyone feeling bad about this project.  It's meant to be fun and if you write a really vulgar song about the finer points of someone's appearance or their love life... and that person comes to us and says "NOT COOL!"  your entry will be pulled so PLEASE if you're going to honor someone with a song about them... don't be THAT GUY... make sure they're cool with the lyrics first & they aren't going to feel the need to cry foul.  

SOUNDS FUN... HOW DO I ENTER?

APPLICATION/SONG WRITING PHASE (7/9 - 7/16) just reply to this thread and let us know what song you're going to write a parody of!  We want to know you're playing along so we can start to plan out prizes.  If there are three entries we don't need nearly the amount of prizes as if we get 100!  Also, it'll be fun to see who wants to sing what!

RECORDING/SUBMISSION PHASE (7/17 - 7/24)  Finish writing your parody of some song and then record yourself singing it.  Upload it to youtube.  On this thread we'll announce the end of the first phase and ask you to post your links to this thread so that everyone can go view your amazing work!

VOTING (7/25-29)  You will mobmail your votes to me between the 25th and 29th.  I will make a post to this thread telling you that votes are being accepted.  No votes will be counted if they are sent before or after my announcement of voting opening and closing.

RESULTS (7/31)  All votes will be counted on 7/30 and winner(s) will be announced on the 31st.  Prizes will be given out after that!
