Murder, mayhem, and money. Started by: Vela on Jul 11, '18 03:02

A chaotic sequence of events had been occurring for the past few days, but it didn't seem like it would ever end as Vela received an... unexpected letter.

She sat in the headquarters of The Seraphim Empire, located in South Side, Chicago. Vela was not particularly busy, but her mind was racing with thoughts about her recruitment, if she was sure that she wanted to permanently stay there. That decision was finally made upon reading the letter, the words which contained a sense of genuine kindness and sincerity, Vela was surprised to say the least. Although she would absolutely love to stay with Don Dub, it would be with great apologies and extreme professionalism that she had to express her interest in a particular city. That city being Detroit, Motown, The Motor City, the place where Vela had planned to go ever since her eyes were laid on that personal telegram. She read over it once more with a gentle smile plastered on her face.

'To the wandering souls of Los Angeles, I have been informed about your Alpha's retirement, and this letter that you are receiving right now is intended to acknowledge your presence and help you want to rise from what you have just been thrown into. Your dear Alpha, Ely, is someone I have known, as well as someone who has an excellent eye for talent. Some of you may have already found shelter in other cities, but if you would be so willing, in a few hours, I will be setting up my own family here, in Detroit. We will be catering towards the community, with the profound knowledge that each of you have developed over time. Any worries for compensation will be dealt with, but for now, I will only tell you this much. Murder, mayhem and money... All this can be yours for coming to the light atop the Ivory Tower. I hope to hear from you soon.

From the depths of my heart, Isabella Luciano.'

From being buried in her paranoia and overwhelming sadness, Vela was now motivated to more further downtown, where she would finally be able to meet face to face with the mysterious person who sent her the letter. She still needed more time to help the pain in her heart, only now, she was more optimistic and hopeful about her future, as would be able to make a name for herself in the local community where there was voices that were waiting to be heard for the betterment of society. The very next morning, Vela rose from her deep sleep, which she hadn't experienced since few days ago. She got up, fixed herself a cup of coffee, before proceeding to the bathroom to take a shower. Vela had been staying at a rented apartment, besides the fact that there was little to no room to move around, she was happy that she was able to get a spot for a few nights. In a few hours, she would set off on her own to the beautifully harsh landscape of Detroit, where Vela imagined buildings towering over her and skies that would be a constant reminder of the angels that roamed this earth. Many people she had encountered over the years in her life would be engraved in the back of her mind, except those who tried to trick and fool her. That would be no more, as she only had one priority, to join in camaraderie with like-minded individuals.

Vela looked back at her appearance in the foggy mirror in front of her, after she had taken a boiling hot shower, which she had done to ease the unbearable, mental anguish. "Don't give up hope just yet..." She whispered to herself, trying not to let any tear run down her pale cheek, which was stained multiple times already with those harrowing drops of sadness. The sun was starting to rise when Vela looked outside the window in the bathroom, peeking through the glass and admiring the streets view for a quick second. She smiled gently to herself, as she now began to pick up the missing parts of herself, those things that included her persistence, courage and determination. The three things that she had to hold on for dear life as she would embark on her new journey as a mafiosa in Detroit.

Returning her attention to the mirror, she started to get a move on her appearance, taking a comb and lightly brushing her jet black bob. Vela huffed, her side bangs moving out of the way, and she continued to slide the comb through her dark locks. When she was satisfied with how her hair looked, she set the comb back on the sink top and bent down to reach the bottom cabinet where her powder makeup was. Vela grabbed the plain, black face powder container and opened it gently, picking up the flat sponge and applying it lightly on different areas of her face. She smoothened out her complexion, making sure she didn't miss any parts of her face. She didn't bring much of her clothes to Chicago, so she just settled for a simple blouse and a clean pair of grey slacks, which failed fit her nicely as her petite figure was in need of some good meals to satisfy the hunger in her stomach. Her fingers travelled over her hips, lifting the tiny handles that were attached on the waistline of her slacks. What was planned ahead of her was an adventure that she was eager to hop on.

Before leaving for Detroit, she tried to leave the apartment the same way she came in, making sure the pillows were fluffed and she had cleaned the toothpaste stains from the mirror. Vela gave the room a look-over, before taking a deep breath. It wasn't long before she turned on her heels, locking the door behind her, making her way to the landlord. "Thank you..." She said delightfully, looking around her, before taking a wad of cash from her purse and quickly placing it on the man's desk. "It was much appreciated." She added.

The cool breeze outside welcomed her with open arms, her heart full of joy and her mind cleared from the daunting past.
