1st Annual Writers Award Publication

Ladies & gentlemen, this is, I believe, a first for this society.  The publication of a collection of articles created by you, members of this society, about the world we live in, what we do and why we do it.

Let's get the numbers out of the way first.  All being well, there will be a prize fund of at least $10M to be spread about.  And a lot of "perks" available for our winners,  Heck, we're so enthused about this that we will guarantee a substantial and significant prize for every entrant that meets our criteria, which is...  an article of 300 - 500 words, about this world - past or present.  Excessive salt will be rejected, everything else will get a fair hearing.

To make sure everyone has some skin in the game, we're also going to ask for a competition entry fee.  This has been at least matched in cash by us, and supplemented by millions of dollars worth of perks.  Basically, you send me $500k when you send in your article (with a note of your name).

So, you send me a 300 - 500 word article.  You get an automatic prize (again, something very decent) and considered for the competition.

And this is how that will work.  The articles will be published in a special newspaper - the winner will be the first article, 2nd prize the second and so on.  The winner will get a prize that might just be the biggest this thing has ever seen.  We're gonna try to keep it in line with the effort of the piece, but keep in mind we have a very serious prize pot to dish out.

We are on hand to assist first timers, and we are looking to get a solid piece of work out on the Streets that we can chew over and talk about.

I'm hoping for at least 10 articles - that's what we've budgeted for.  But if we get more, the prize pot grows, it's as simple as that.

So...  To recap!

1/ You write an article and send it to me. 

2/ You wire your $500k entrants fee

3/ You hear back from me thanking you for your piece (and if I need you to reduce the salt or not - but I'm guessing this won't be an issue)

4/ You see yourself published and you receive an automatic (significant and substantial) prize for entering.

5/ You find out if you're in the top 3 mega prize winners

6/ You comment on why you deserved to win or why the winner did...  or whatever!
