| Writing Prompt #6 - Results | Started by: Squishy on Jul 22, '18 13:01 |

I want to thank the writers and crews that submitted to the last writing prompt. $100,000,000 was donated to the Fort Fund for each crews submission, as well as 3 Super VIPs, and a CA. (Forts can be shot at for a good deal of XP, then repaired with the HQ funds if properly coordinated) It was nice to see some of the entrants being upper structure, there is nothing more motivational than the upper structure leading by example. However, on that note, this is the final writing prompt. I had hope to get more entries and more views, but it doesn't look like its panning out. We will try a different style reoccurring event to see if we can find a better fit down the road. |

I did enjoy the writing prompt competitions. It is a shame that there were not more interest in it to keep it going (and also sad I did not get the chance to submit an entry into the last one). It has been a great time for me and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Thank you so much for having it going for as long as you did. |

I think these writing competitions have been great; the last one, in particular, encouraged me (and at least one other person I know) to write with someone brand new. My guess is that the administrators wanted to see many responses for these, and I share the disappointment there. However, I'd personally suggest simply spacing them out more before ceasing them altogether. Notice the rate of responses for each: Writing Prompt #1 May 31st = 48 responses Writing Prompt #2 June 9th = 29 responses Writing Prompt #3 June 19th = 25 responses Writing Prompt #4 June 29th = 13 responses Writing Prompt #5 July 7th = 13 responses Writing Prompt #6 July 16th = 8 responses (16 participants)
Did people simply lose interest in these over time? Did they just get bored of them because they were happening too often? Personally, I intended to enter every single one of these, but there was still a single competition where I simply lost track of time. I would suggest a monthly writing prompt, rather than the current schedule of 3 per month. My guess is that the scarcity/larger window will allow for many more responses than what we saw near the end. Additionally, this counts down on the amount of time for reading/review by administrators. It's entirely up to the game administrators, of course, to provide official competitions as they see fit. But if the administration wanted to see increased participation, I might suggest tweaking the system before giving up entirely. If the response is that people had their chance to support this more and they simply didn't enter, then that's certainly a fair position. Just sharing my two cents. |

Squishy, I have truly enjoyed the prompts and the ability to put my mind to writing. I like GavinandTaraByrne's suggestion of perhaps having a monthly competition but regardless, it has been so much fun using these prompts. |

Thank you Squishy! I have enjoyed this competition, although I wish I had participated in all of them. I just kept losing track of time with them and missed out. I like the idea suggested above about possibly spacing them out more. Although I'd say maybe 2 a month rather than 1. I mean it could have the same outcome as the current set up, but I feel it could be worth a shot. The RP/writing aspect of the game is what got me to stay years ago. It is partially what has kept me here recently. Whether or not you change things up slightly or entirely I look forward to it and hope to have a higher participation rate! |

I too want to add my thanks for the writing prompts. They were a great way to stimulate creativity and were a definite help in motivating me to get back into the habit of writing. I didn't enter all of the prompts due to my own personal time constraints, but I would also be excited to see this return from time to time if perhaps a little less frequently. |

I'd also have to agree with everyone. I really enjoyed the writing prompts, though I'm a bit surprised that there were not more entries then there were. Anyways thank you for putting them up, they were a blast. |

It was fun while it lasted. Anywho that last one was really enjoyable, writing and reading them! I'd like to see this form of writing prompt continue into the future, but don't feel pressured to start it up too soon, we can wait. I look forward to what other competitions you come up with, though, Squishy! |
