Marie jumped up on a wooden crate to address those who had gathered following the most recent bloodshed.  She knew there would be backlash over this matter, but she did not dread it.  Her shoulders were broad enough to bear the burden.  Sometimes friends and kin needed expression to heal.  She would not deny them that comfort.  She also believed that transparency, at least as much as one could provide, was a good thing for the community at large. 

“The events of this evening pain me greatly.  My kin and the kin of Don Dub have had a long standing friendship, but friendship cannot be allowed to endanger the peace we have.  There were individuals within his crew that had been falsifying and deliberately refusing to report their activities related to their marksmenship training.  There is only one reason to do this and that reason goes against everything we stand for in this new era.  I did attempt to give the Don an opportunity to correct the matter through a general letter that was sent to all my crew leaders in Chicago.  The matter did not get resolved.  Normally at this point, I would have preferred to go to the leader of such a crew with specifics and have them deal with the matter.  Unfortunately, I could not go directly to the Don on this sensitive matter because there was a fundamental loss of trust.

The loss of trust developed over time with small matters, but with each one a characteristic patterned began to emerge.  I received hard evidence that on one occasion he shared city secrets with people who were outside of the appropriate circle of people he should have been discussing city matters with.  On another occasion he expressed his disagreement with one of my decisions -- to a hand from another city no less.  He also was known to have shared a private conversation between him and myself with mere associates of his crew.  I no longer felt like I could trust the Don to keep the best interest of Chicago and the interest of the One Family at heart.  Trust is the only real currency we have, and when that trust is lost than action must be taken.”

With that Marie stepped down from the crate and got into the car that was waiting for her.  Once inside, her men took her back to her headquarters.  There would be no rest tonight.

While I do believe that you are mistaken in there is only one reason somebody would not fill out a shot report because there are actually a few reasons.

I will give you some legitimacy on the fact that my dead kin was one of the people who did not turn in a shot report and while Dub did indeed mail the family as a whole about filling them out when his wishes were still not done there was no individual conversation about it between us.

I do know most of this is about giving one of your own the district, somebody who helped get you to where you are today. However, I applaud you for actually coming up with a reason that was true to get it completed.

Whilst I appreciate the difficulty in maintaining law and order in this thing of ours, I find the subject of trust to be an interesting topic to use as justification to kill someone who failed to submit accurate (or none at all) details of their marksmanship training.

I highly doubt shot reports are mandatory and enforceable just because the Godfathers like having something to read.

A snake was hit by a car. A woman picks him up, feeds him and gets him back to a full state of health. The snake then bites her, injecting her with deadly venom. On her deathbed she asks, "after all I did, why me?" The snake replies, "you knew I was a snake when you picked me up."

Trust is a fitting subject to have when multiple aversions emerge creating conflicts to the sustainment of that trust. Chicago lost some of its good men because of this. Thanks for clearing things up, GFC.

Listens as Don Marie speaks well on the recent events. I was not in the face of danger, but I completely understood, what she was saying. While not all crews may agree, some crews reply heavly on trust and filling out reports fullfills the trust factor. When that trust is broken, consequences do tend to happen. I would think you understand this when you are commiting an act that would break the trust.
