The meeting had been set up for anyone who had the contacts to enter the premises. A couple tables had been set up in the spacious basement of a Las Vegas bar and it was here that the various leaders of the big cities, as well as a few of their good men, were invited for the evening. A certain gloom loomed around the room, as something like this usually meant terrific news or bad news, and there sure as hell weren't going to be any party poppers tonight. Alfieri allowed everyone to enter and take their seats before he rose from his and cleared his throat to catch their attention. "Friends, I invite you here under tragic circumstances. This life of crime has been good to me. I'm a fairly wealthy man, to say the least. However, there comes a time in every mans life where has to stand back and observe his situation. We're living in a time where population influx is imminent, where the community demands more and more from their leaders, and where the youth of our nation need to be nurtured into a stable world. I'm not the man who can bring these to you. At least, not at the moment. Not as well as some can. That's why I'm announcing this. I intend to step down from my current position of CEO of The Iguana Corporation. It's not the right time of my career to be pursuing seemingly distant goals, as I lack the time required to do good to this world. I don't want to hog a position that I can't fulfill to my full ability because that would just hurt this community and being a liability is the last thing I've ever wanted to be. It pains me to make this decision, as I have grown so close with those who worked so hard for me, but I feel it is simply for the best. As with most things, there were complications to what we prepared. Initially, it was in fact Goosington, my trusted Left Hand, who I had set up as my auth candidate and successor but tragically, he was killed just hours before I was set to announce my retirement as a crew leader. The generosity of one of my closest friends shone through at a time of need for me and MolotovMcHugh made me an offer of which I can only wish to ever repay. While many of my members will be joining The Car Bomb Sallies, they are not obliged to, and I'm sure a few of them will stray out to the other various families in the criminal world. Myself? I'm going to retire to a peaceful life in New York, drinking away the nights with old man Molotov, keeping myself busy with the newspaper crosswords, and living out my days without the stress of the criminal life. Things didn't work out as I had planned. I don't regret it, though. Not one single bit." Alfieri sat back in his seat and took a long gulp of his red wine. |

There are times when we are faced with hard decisions in this thing of ours. Life changing ones. From choosing which family to give ourselves to, to getting our first button, to finally getting a crew of our own, staying true to our principles and a whole lot more. But there is nothing harder than having to give up something we have worked hard for. It is also another thing to give up the very thing we have striven for, the very thing we have given ourselves entirely, for a greater cause. Time and effort we have put in to realize a dream we envisioned for ourselves and only to be crushed by our own hands. There are things beyond our control and sacrifices that need to be done. It was a hard decision indeed but in the end, you made the right one. With nothing more to be said, I wish you all the best Signore. |

What a shock.... Really, I am shocked... Everything is going down the tube, every single pisspoor leader is screwing up and those who are not... are sick and tired of all the crap and are trying to step down and avoid blame and stress Nice going chumps. |

| Shaky, honestly, if you'd rather have a leader who is only able to be around for an average of about 25 minutes a day, I'll gladly withdraw my decision and keep on going. I mean, why the hell should I let someone else who's far more capable than me at the moment take my spot? That's ludicrous! I'm not scared to face the blame. I'm not intimidated by what anyone has to say about me. I made a decision to step down in order to let someone who can handle this job at the moment get their rightful position as I am with far too little time to make a real difference...hell, within a couple days, I'll be with barely any time at all around here. | |

Thank you for your continuing dedication to this place, Alfieri. Though others may criticize, I respect and understand your decision. To try to carry out the job of a CL without the attention it deserves is unfair to everyone involved. Still, though this may be obvious, many people lack the conviction to follow through. I wish you the best of luck with whatever has called you away from this place. |
