Ending The Slump Started by: Wild on Aug 02, '18 13:03

"Let's dance Wild."

"Not today my friend."

Feeling herself start to slip away into the darkness, Wild could not help but to turn down the things she once loved. Before she would never refuse an offer for something such as dancing but tonight, tonight the bar looked more appealing and the drinks were flowing. It was just at that moment another glass of the burning liquid was set down in front of her and she reached for it.  Only to have it swatted out of her hand.

"What's the matter with you lately Wild. You never seem up to your usual self anymore."

"I don't know. A slump I guess? Ever just feel not interested in anything anymore? It's like that but a hundred times worse these days."

Having said the words she grabbed back her glass and downed it fast before it could be taken from her again. Wild was used to people being around her but somehow she just wished she was alone in the bar. Alone, being served drink after drink because what else was there to do? Sure she could go knock over a post office, or share a few grams of heroin with the local dealer. Here and there she could even pick up extra work if she really wanted to... but did she want to?

"Sometimes, Wild. A slump is a hard thing to come out of but you need to shake yourself up. Wake up and blink back the darkness to see the light again. We all know you can bounce back better than anyone else can. So do it. Bounce. Back."

"Oh I don't know. Bouncing back seems like such a ridiculous thing to do right now. What would I be bouncing too? A discussion that rarely gets seen or people that just pass on by without so much as a word? You know they had thought about it but they don't seem brave enough anymore. Brave enough to have an opinion, or at least to share one. Brave enough to open themselves up to a discussion where there might be opposing views. What exactly is the point of bouncing back just for that?"

Calling over the bartender, she made another drink order. She needed it. Her head was spinning with all that she observed and it just seemed to keep her further down. Further into the slump. After her next drink they continued their conversation on.

"Maybe that's all it will be but you will never know if you don't try. Try and see where it takes you. Like the wind be wild again."

"Alright... Alright I will do it. Just let me enjoy this one last drink while I think about what exactly to do."

With that she got herself another drink and sipped it slowly. Slowing her thoughts down in the process as she debated just how far she was willing to bounce back. But first there was something she needed to do.

"Let's dance."
