Madeline headed out onto the streets, dressed to impress as usual. She was accompanied by the lovely Kamille, and together the two women were bound to turn heads. It wasn’t very long before a small crowd had gathered around them, taking the flyer that the girls were handing out. “Ladies and gentlemen, Boss Kamille and I are pleased to announce that we are hard at work revitalizing the New York Business District. Inspired by the work of our friends in Philadelphia, our business plan, highlighted here in these flyers, is to link new potential businesses in New York City with our Southern Charm Boat Tours." Kamille picked up from here, her voice loud to catch everyone's attention. "These businesses will be launched right on New York City Piers. As of right now, Southern Charm Boat Tours launch from Battery Park and Brooklyn Bridge Park. Participating businesses will be advertised on the boats and recommended by the tour guides. The only businesses that will be allowed to open around the areas where the Southern Charm Boats load and unload passengers will be Southern Charm supported businesses. This will ensure a steady flow of customers to your businesses, as well as added safety and protection from our own security guards." Who wouldn't want free security? Plus, the guarantee of boatloads of customers arriving on the piers every 60 minutes. Really, the plan had merit. "There is a small fee changed to be a Southern Charm Supported Business, however, the rewards will far outweigh the cost. Come to see us at our offices in New York or send a mail to myself or Kamille if you’re interested in participating or have questions!” Madeline continued, her voice bright and cheery. “While participation in the Southern Charm Business plan is not mandatory for opening a business in the city of New York, Godfather Chairman Clement has authorized me to inform the masses that the New York City Business District as a whole will be closely monitored by Boss Kamille and I. There will be a flat tax of $100,000 for any business that chooses to open in New York. If you choose to ignore this rule, set by our Godfather, well…. your business may not be there when you return to it.” With that, Kamille and Madeline smiled warmly at the crowd, waiting for a while to see if anyone had any questions or comments about their plan while they handed out the last of their flyers. |

Tara smiled at Madeline, realizing she hadn't followed up on planning a meeting with her New York counterparts. "Exciting news, Madeline. I congratulate you on your initiative, and I wish you the very best as you work to build up the Big Apple. I look forward to sitting down with you and Kamille to discuss how we can work together productively." |

Jermaine dusted off his hat and overcoat from a cloakroom near the front of the HQ and headed out into the streets. Good god, he thought, its nice to see the outside world for a bit. He'd been pent up in there for weeks.
Thank you very much Madeline and Kamille, fantastic effort on setting up this venture. I'm a big fan of the business model and think its a strong addition to our soon-to-be thriving New York economy.
Just to clarify that last point ladies and gentlemen, we will be starting a rule this evening whereby any new business ventures in New York which wish to open their doors will require an application to me and the city planners and small fee of $100k to cover the administration and overheads which supporting local business naturally incurs. Any existing business is absolutely fine to carry on trading as they are. |
