Sienna put her hand in Lia's, but she didn't make eye contact. Marco did, obviously wanting to ask what had happened, but refraining for the sake of the child. Instead, he remained silent as they walked back to the rest of the gathered family, who looked at Lia with questioning eyes- and not a small amount of concern.

"You all know why I'm here, that was no secret from you. But, there is a man coming after me now, and information says that he's in Sicily. I cannot risk endangering you all, mi famiglia. Paul is getting me away from here, somewhere more remote and away from the estate. Donny is going to stay here with some extra men just in case."

Lia looked at them all sadly, but she knew it had to be this way. 

Marco Cassaro looked at Lia sternly, but spoke softly.

"I'm not going anywhere, and neither are you. Family doesn't run away when there's trouble. Carlotta, Julia, and Sienna will leave, rent a house in another town for a while that we've never been. But this man... if he has money, he will find us, no? Where would you like to be when he knocks on this door? Alone in some cave? Or here with your family? I will hire some security, and we will make this place a fortress. And when this man comes here, we will end this."

Behind Lia, the younger Marco started clapping, then piped up with his own two lira.

"And besides, must we sit around and wait? If you know who this man is, we can watch the ships that appear in Palermo. We see him, we find him, and I take him out!"

He paused.

"By which I mean pick his pocket and seriously inconvenience him."

Marco Cassaro just stared at the younger man for a moment before speaking.

"Maybe. Maybe not. That's up to Lia. But Lia- do not leave. We're all safer if we remain together. Have you not heard of divide and conquer?"

Papa Marco's words brought tears to her eyes. Her first instinct was always to run, to protect others. But now, the ones she loved were telling her to stay. And, he was right. More people would make a better stand. She turned to Paul. 

"Take Carlotta, Julia, and Sienna to a safe place. West of Palermo, then get back here. We will stay."

She turned to Marco, standing behind her, and smiled to him. 

"This was not in the job description when you became my assistant, or my boyfriend. Thank you...for wanting to stay with me."

Marco grinned as Lia looked back over her shoulder. 

"Well... I do expect some overtime pay."
