It was said to be dangerous to walk the streets at night, perhaps even more so if one veered off into a nearby alleyway. But, he had grown up on the streets in some capacity, with his parents hardly keeping a close eye on him and he wasn't stupid to venture into an alleyway without some form of protection. Lucky wasn't here for the darkness, but for the comfort of getting to know the city - getting to know the locations of where the nearest escape routes lay and where he could bug out at a moment's notice. A cigarette between his lips, the white smoke trailing behind him as he strolled. It aroused much less suspicion than a singular man walking around with nothing to do. He was also waiting on the right time, the right time to pull in the big bucks on a stash he had hung down a chimney nearby. Lucky nudged back his sleeve, stopping briefly under a spotlight to check the time before moving on. He was indeed lucky to be a part of a Family, certainly he hadn't thought it to have happened so quickly but he was going to do his job to the best of his ability. He had to be ready for what it also entailed, the fact that people from their network were being killed off every day - or being arrested, those were the risks that he had to take on. Lucky stopped on a street corner, deciding to park his backside against the illuminated side of the wall facing the street - watching as a Cord 812 cruised by, the occupants of the car too preoccupied with the kid in the back to notice the lone watcher. He pulled the rim of his fedora lower down his face as he flicked his smoke over to one side, stumping it out with his heel. It was quiet. Sometimes too quiet. But not tonight. Lucky didn't mind the quiet nights, watching and observing people passing by - at least those willing to venture out late at night. |
