| Making RP threads more socially meaningful | Started by: DeadFish on Aug 25, '18 08:17 |

So, correct me if I am wrong, because I am not MR expert, but let me tell you what I observed. In RP threads one person is putting massive amount of text, then someone else is putting another amount of text. Sometimes there is even no response to what you wrote. I think that it is because just posting lot of words give you some "perks". I am not native speaker. That means: - I am discouraged seeing block of text with so many difficult words - I cannot produce such text to answer in simillar fashion This is frustrating to me. There are some suggestions from upper structures to try RP etc, but I feel that this is a field where always I will be less successful than others. What is my proposition? How about try to make RP more social? If number of words would be not the only things which count on first place, but also number of people engaged, who are REALLY talking to each other and create this way real conversation, maybe this could help. So if someone is referencing someone else that would count, if someone is writting in the same thread more than once, etc Of course I doesn't say to not take number of words into account - long RP stories are impressing for me and important for MR society. But giving an alternative to this could be also good. |

Hi DeadFish!
As someone who is always writing (perhaps more text than some folks care to read - see my profile to rp story links) and someone who has been writing on MR for the past year, I have some insights. I'm sure the admins will correct me if I'm wrong.
If you're having trouble getting people to respond to your threads, it could be a matter of courtesy. Some people don't just walk into a scene they weren't invited to (even though that is allowed and encouraged on the streets) so you might try letting your crew members and friends on the site know you've got a thread up and you'd love some people to come join you!
Personally speaking, I try to visit any thread people ask me to pop into - even if only for a post or two. So give me a heads up if you'd like me to have Bella pop by on something you've got running!
Wishing you success in finding great story here at MR and talented/fun people to write with - truly it's one of the best parts of the community, IMHO! |
